Urumqi Uyghur Cuisine

OK it's a place you go eat, alone or as a group, with no bells or whistles. Food is halal, delicious and spicy too. I liked the BBQ. The place is always busy, so food is fresh.

Forget all the bad review you read, come and enjoy the food, you wouldnt regret it. The food is amazing and huge, and the customer service? Dont ask, its one of the best in Adelaide. I know sometimes wait in line for long and waiting for food also takes time but what you expect when you visit a busy restaurant. I love it, i will coming back and try other food.

So, we've hit up this spot a couple of times, and I gotta say, the food is usually on point. But let me tell you, the other stuff? Not so much. The last time around, we ordered a dish expecting some potatoes, but nope, got hit with a ton of chilies instead. We flagged it with the staff, and they hit us with the "chef forgot" excuse, blaming a shortage of kitchen staff. Seriously, why should that be the custumer's problem?
And get this, the first time we rolled in, we showed them pics from Google, and the chick at the counter looked annoyed as heck. She questioned if those were even their dishes. Like, what? She wouldn't even help us decide on what to order until we proved those were their pics. No apology, just a whole lot of attitude.
These aren't isolated incidents, either. The absolute worst was when we tried to give some feedback about the service, and the staff member straight up got rude. I kid you not, she chased my friend out the door, demanding an explanation for our words. I'm still in shock – what kind of service is that?
Oh, and another thing about this place: the menu pricing are ridiculous when compared to nearby restaurants. I mean, I get that good food is expensive, but this place is overcharging for it. With those high prices, you'd think they could at least get basic things right, like using the right ingredients in a dish and custumer services. But, apparently, not.
Overall, the customer service vibe is just off. No respect, lots of rudeness, and it feels like they couldn't care less about how customers feel. Not cool.

Great food, amazed at how flavourful the lamb chops were - nice cumin spice rub with crispy bits. The chicken kebabs were so soft! The grill master is obviously an expert. The noodles, vegetable dishes were also good. Fried rice was ok.

Service is bearable, I suggest ordering everything at once.we have a had wait for ~20 minutes because we didn't. The restaurant was full to be fair. Also, they just bring the food based on whatever gets ready first - so of you are in a group, some people end up waiting.

Overall great experience, amazing food. Will definitely come back on my next trip.

The ambience is probably left over from a cafe or something that was here before Urumqi.

Won't comment on the price, I have no idea if it's reasonable.

The food is amazing. The toilets have no soap though. I would appreciate it if they could add soap in the toilets.

Very terrible service. My only advice to the lady at the counter, (basically if you don't like your job and You are unhappy because of it, just quit it).
I was waiting for some dishes and I found out later that they forgot about it as she was taking the order by memorising. My friend was allergic to spicy food and they didn't specify that the Kebab will be spicy in their menu, when we ask for changing they said we can't. We ordered our food separately as each of us wanted something else and when we came to pay she said we don't spill the bills! Are you guys kedding me? I only pay for what i get for myself only. Completely terrible experience and I will never back and absolutely not recommend at all.

OMG - Their dishes are too good. The every single kebabs are over the top. Authentic spice and charcoal took the taste of Kabab in different level. Other dishes are also mind blowing. Food and Customer service deserves 5 Star.

The food was so spicy and the menu did not mention that it is spicy
So I am having allergies from spicy and I asked them to change it to normal and I said that I have allergies to spicy but they said I cannot change it because you did not said that you have allergies
I will make a complain to SA health and say that the food got me Diarrhoea and a very bad medical problem too
The persons there was so rude when they were talking to me and seriously they don’t know how to work or do a nice food.
I know how to cook better than them and my Chinese family knows how to cook better than them

Food: 5 star superb, no question
Service: Can improve a lot. Went there recently, ordered kebabs, fried rice, a chicken dish and bread, Kebabs came first with not much delay, then after a long delay, and inquiring a few times, the chicken dish was served. About half an hour later the bread, then another 20 mins later the fried rice. This is basics of running a restaurant, you prepare the whole order and serve it, not parts of it. Many others were having the same experience while we were there.

We are living in 2023 and they got the worst customer service still. You will be finished with your dinner and they'll still be cooking one of your dishes. Initial order takes 45 mins to 1hr to arrive. And best of luck if they are busy because your order can take 2 hours.
Been eating here since 2018, still they can't get their service sorted. Highly disappointed.

We order 4 items in the menu and we only received 2. The food was good but the service was really bad. Staff are unprofessional specially the girl (I don't know if she is the manager) didn't even apologize for what happen.

Cold service, oh yes. Lots of room for improvement as many other reviewers have mentioned. But the food alone is fantastic. Though pity about the price increase; lamb kebabs used to be $2.50 each now $5.00 each! Overall menu is pricey for establishment standards. I only go back because I must admit I do love and crave the taste.

Its really tasty food. Smells fresh and lots of herbs. The lamb kebabs were amazing. Dumplings were tasting very fresh
The food had that theme of freshness. Some of it very spicy but not in negative way. Food took a while to come out but the taste made up for it

My kids ddnt like it but it's not cause of restaurant, I would recommend it as a hang spot with mates. Different cuisine to the usual stuff. I liked it and will check it out again.

Exteremely terrible and long wait times. Food was good and staff were trying to serve everyone as best as they could. However l believe there were 4 or around 4 staff members serving the whole restaurant which was packed with people. People were lining up out on the street, took us min 1 hr to get only the first portion of our order! The management seriously has to reconsider their strategy and stop thinking about cutting costs.

My all time favourite for Uyghur cuisine. The dapanji is absolutely delicious. My new favourite is the chicken kebab. Such an amazing balance of flavours and not dry like other kebabs in the town.

Food was good but the menu is very misleading. The lamb chop ribs said it was 19.90 for (5pcs) and didn’t specify that it was actually 19.90 for each piece. Obviously if it was written that way anyone would’ve perceived it to be 19.90 for 5pcs. We ended up accidentally spending 100$ for the ribs that they didn’t specify the price. Scammed us all with even an attempt to make us order more food adding on to the ribs.

The food was exceptional, we arrived on my wifes birthday to find out the normal chef was absent. The original owner (Lady) was happy to cook for us. We were the only people in the restaurant. What an honour. They have decided to retire and close up the restaurant. We will remember this place very well. Thank you again and happy retirement.
