The Pickled Duck reviews
65Prompt and delightful service, greeted with a wonderful smile. The food, as always, was wonderfully delicious (highly recommend the duck steak sandwich).
Great place for a few drinks after work and a quick bite or a sit down delicious meal
Good atmosphere for the locals or welcoming to those who have just discovered it's no longer a St Johns station many years ago
The pickled duck is a great restaurant that you should certainly visit! The service is great and they have a great atmosphere! The food is pretty good too except for the chicken nuggets with massive desserts such as the brownie for two that could feed ten and the build your own sundaes which are far too big to eat alone, even the small one! If you like good service, a fun and bubbly atmosphere and delicious food you should visit the pickled duck!
Delicious gluten free food, thank you. Having a fryer designated for only cooking gluten free food would be a great addition. Sometimes I really fancy chips and having coeliac disease means I don't get them very often.
Not sure it's the accoustics of the building but at 50% capacity it was impossible to make out the music over the sound of conversations and it just added to the din. Almost everything on the menu is fried, but it's good for what it is. One complaint: salt and pepper should be on the table, and if ketchup/aioli are not served with chips, they should be available on the menu to order.
Generally the food and service are reasonably good. I prefer this place to other burger / pub foods in the area. Even when it is busy they are efficient. I would comment that it was a bit expensive but I think dining out is just expensive nowadays.
Service was excellent. The atmosphere was good and the food (burgers and steak special) were quite good but a bit pricey for what you get. Will try again.
If I'm honest the place is a little disappointing. The online menu is not up to date to start. The portion sizes are ok but it's not amazing food for what is charged.
Proper barbecue it is not.
The tables are clean and the outside area is nice enough.
The chairs are really uncomfortable and the round tables are not big enough for 4 people.
Overall it's a bit of a damp squib and a let down for what it could be
Ok. Good service, food was solid but nothing groundbreaking. Wouldn't be back in a hurry but good if you like your fried food.
Went in for a quick lunch on a Sunday. Didn't have a booking but was able to be accommodated for after a table was cleared and cleaned.
Ordered the chicken burgers and had a strawberry and basil cocktail. Drink was delicious and the burger was very tasty and filling.
Will definitely be back
Location, food, service, all top notch.
Took a few adults, some kids, and some upcoming adults, catered to all of us, had a great time, and also got the obligatory satisfied food coma
It isn't really my style of food, but if you enjoy American style burgers etc, I think you would enjoy it, it does have some vegan dishes but it is mostly meat based meals. They have some amazing looking shakes and desserts. It was quite popular with a mix of age groups. Worth visiting if you enjoy this type of food.
Food was okay, maybe a little pricey. Very noisy and clattery, made table conversation quote difficult.
When first arrived we were waiting on the rest of our group and after 5 minutes we were told that we had a time limit and should order soon, when over the phone while booking we were told we had 15 minutes to arrive. The food was nice, the schnitzel was well sized and cooked well, the kids meals were also very good. The service received was disapointing and made us unconfortable. Seasonings like pepper are used without customer knowledge so make sure you ask if seasonings are involved. (And when you inquire they are apprehensive). We Were rushed through our meal and felt like we were being pushed out the door. We were reminded throughout our meal and then warned during dessert about our time running out. Hard to look forward to coming again hope next time the service is a bit more welcoming. We are unsure of these time limits as other resturants and takeouts are not pushing that rule. It is somewhat understandable to share the asscesability of this service but i feel that level was unnecessary and effected our enjoyment of this experience.
I'm disappointed. No kids activity, even simple colouring sets would be much appreciated. Not only by parents, but more of dating couples. Prices are skyrocketed. Food is definitely good one hence 2 stars.
Quick prompt customer service, bustling atmosphere and busy but even busier during the dinner time rush. We arrived a bit before then and the food came out fast. The photos are bacon boyz burger, duck's potato bake and Lamborghini pizza. This was all shared between 2 people and was plenty, we had to get a takeout container as there were leftovers. The burger was super delicious, all the great kind of greasy goodness and was eaten in minutes, the potato bake had sliced potatoes and cheese in it and was not too creamy. The taste of potatoes was balanced and the cheese was crispy on the edges of the bowl which was super yummy to eat. The Lamborghini pizza had smoked pulled lamb on it and by far was one of the best pulled lamb on a pizza by far. There was tzatziki sauce, roasted capsicum, onion, feta and baby spinach. Despite having many ingredients on the pizza it was very balanced and delicious in taste. You can order online through a QR code on the tables, anything that's on the menu can be placed in an online order form. So there was no need to get up and wait in a long line so that was great. Overall, I strongly recommend this place and will be coming back:)
Service and food was good, came out super quick and how accommodating they were for my partners food allergies was next level amd without hesitation thanks guys.
No vegan options! Went there for breakfast and the only thing I was able to order was orange juice and coffee. The menu clearly said “vegan options available” and what I was offered was “you can have the poached eggs on toast without the egg and the toast”
FYI Management a vegan option is not removing the “meat” from a dish! A vegan option is a dish CREATED without meat in the first place.
Service, atmosphere and parking is all good. Just don’t go if you are vegan and you want something to eat.
I booked over three weeks ago for 15 people and 1 small child with a high chair. I was told by the person who took the booking they would try to place us all together by putting the tables together. At no time during my booking or on another occasion when I telephoned was I asked if I wanted to be seated inside or out. When we arrived I was advised we were to be seated outside. When we directed to our seating it contained a bar table and bar stools. I requested if it was possible for us to be moved. I was advised this was the only table available. I asked for the high chair. Unfortunately the high chair was only half way up the bar table and the young child would be unable to see his Mother or the other guests. I did ask if we could be moved a a lower table and was informed that was not possible because there were no other lower tables available. When the Mother and child arrived she also was unhappy with the seating. She also requested a move to another table which also was declined by staff. Five people on each side of the table is too many.one guest had to move away from the table to eat. I do not blame the staff who attended to us today. They were doing the best to be helpful. I would suggest that Management train their staff who take the bookings to check if the patrons would like to be seated inside or out and also, if they had objections to be seated at bar tables and stools. No apology by Management was made today. I will not be returning nor would I recommend a visit the the Pickled Duck.
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Only drawback is pricing on soft drink. $12 for a coke and a raspberry is bit steep
