The Greek on Halifax reviews
65 How can you not give this establishment a 5 star rating. The seafood platter was amazing. My only piece of advice, buy larger bottles of wine because it was exceptional
Well done to the team at The Greek. Highly recommended
First dined here a year ago and the food was flavoursome and generous in portions. Had a lovely night then. However, dining here last night was a different story: the Colossus at $40 didn't live up to its name, instead, some dried out, small portions of barbecued meats and half a sausage with about 4 spoonfuls of rice. Service was hugely impersonal and off handed. Given yesterday's experience, don't need to return.
Still, it's always a hugely popular place. Perhaps we just lucked out at our table.
Very nice food, loved the Octopus. Would have been 5 Stars as seriously good food, the service is a bit scattered maybe I was here at a very busy time.
When at restaurant passport dropped out of wife's handbag when she was getting out phone. Rachel our waitness found it on floor and rang us that evening at 11.30pm. We needed it as going back to UK within 2 days, so we were very grateful to get it back.
Had our belated work Xmas lunch there today.
Great food and the staff were very friendly.
The only downside was we were in one of the side areas and we were a little bit out of sight so the drink service was a bit light on.
Overall, highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great place to go for lunch or dinner.
Second time there and the food was top shelf both times
Delicious food, relaxed warm atmosphere and excellent service, they even had my favourite scotch, Another time it might be the seafood platter, again. Everything is good. Come with a group!
Where to start. We arrived early for our booking and the girls working were very welcoming. We started with an out and some pita & homemade Tzatziki. We opted to try "The Greek" Cab Sauv which was like we were drinking wine from Greece. As we love Octopus we chose to have the main as entree with Saganaki, which was the best I've had since being in Greece nearly 20 years ago. Then the absolute hame change was the meat platter. Who would have that char grilled Quail would be so good! My fav lamb cutlets to die for & the giros melt in the mouth!
Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and delicious food. Great place close to town to bring guests. Good for dates and large groups.
The best food is here - deliciousness on a plate! I had the vegetarian moussaka with a Greek salad and it was so good. I tried the souvlaki (lamb & chicken) which was soft, succulent & flavoursome and served with fluffy pillows of warm pita bread. The best dish was the Krokettes - zucchini & cheese balls lightly fried & served with skordalia. They were to die for!
Couldn't fault the service - our wait staff were friendly & attentive on a super busy night as the restaurant was packed. Can thoroughly recommend The Greek.
We went on holidays and came across this restaurant. It is busy, lucky we rang and did the booking. Food is amazing and the staffs are friendly. We had Yiros, keftedes and chefs dish of the day which included char grilled chicken breast. We all really enjoyed ourselves and the kids loved the food even my two year old loved it. I'll definitely tell my families and friends about the restaurant, that if they ever go to Adelaide they should try this restaurant.
Had the Colossus main - very tasty but lacked the full Greek experience without the octopus/calamari (maybe replace the sausage. I'm not sure how Greek sausages are?). The kantaifi serving was large and delicious.
Food was tasty but nothing special and too expensive. $32 for a yiros plate is laughable given the size and simplicity of the dish.
We stumbled upon the restaurant. One of the best meals we have had while visiting AU. Pita, meatballs, and halloumi and grape salad. Perfect!
Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing Greek food. Fab atmosphere and great location. Would recommend
Delicious food, relaxed warm atmosphere and excellent service, they even had my favourite scotch!
Very impressed, couldn't fault the place, looking forward to going back.
Authentic greek food in a restaurant with gorgeous decor. Got Haloumi and dips for entree and the Octopus for main. Unfortunately the octopus was way over-salted. Asked for more lemon to cut through it, but it didn't help. The chickpea salad to go with lacked flavour. I'd go again, but definitely order a different main.
This time it was just relaxing, outdoors with a drink and mezze. Another time it might be the seafood platter, again. Everything is good. Come with a group.
We ordered a variety of dishes and none were even approaching anything one could call 'authentic' quality Greek cuisine. Carelessly presented with obviously low quality ingredients and poor cooking skills. That's not good Greek food and quite expensive on top! A lovely setting - that's all.
The food is always outstanding traditional Greek cuisine with a modern influence. Fantastic friendly service. Highly recommended
2nd visit and they don't disappoint. Fabulous Greek food, great ambience and top notch service, at affordable prices.
