The Greek on Halifax reviews
65Excellent, highly recommended. The Seafood platter was wonderful, Morton Bay Bugs, Octopus, Prawns and part of the Calamari were grilled. Amazing piece of Snapper, so succulent. Dayley was the perfect host. Busy night, it was Valentines day and Greek on Halifax still shone brightly. Thank you so much for a special meal.xx
Excellent service, prompt service once ordering from extensive Greek Cypriot menu. Welcoming and friendly staff. Food quality excellent. Love the resturant.could easily imagine sitting in a resturant overlooking the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean.
After a Covid enforced absence it was good to able to get back to The Greek and again enjoy the ambience, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent wines; the lamb cutlets are to die for.
Such a festive environment, staff and food. Seafood was amazing, perfectly cooked with care taken on each type. Lamb was juicy, pink and beautifully seasoned. Chips,
and zucchini croquettes fried/baked were wonderful accompliments. Such an amazing night. Easy to find, easy to park, great value and clean bathrooms. Thank you
The Greek at Halifax was an Okay experience for us, lets talk about the positives, their friendly, super helpful staff and their dessert, Cream Kataiffi.
The let downs was the food, us being vegetarians there werent many options but the options we ordered were pretty bland and dry. We literally had to drink after every bite as the Kroquettes were really dry and bland with no even enough salt. The vegetarian Moussaka was not that great either, it had all the ingredients but no spicies or salt or any flavor what so ever. The meat dishes/section in food might be really good but not too sure as we won't be trying that ourselves. Good ambiance okay food with high enough prices so choose at your own will.
Done Greek dining.
Beautiful food and the service is perfect.
Always feel welcome and there is no waiting.
Pays to book in though.
Really nice ambience. Love the traditional Greek touches to the decor. Prompt service. We decided to order several dishes and share the lot. My favourite was the zucchini croquettes. Yia Yia’s chips taste good! Everything was delicious. Will try different dishes next time we go. Spacious restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Clean toilet facilities.
Wonderful evening shared with family and friends. Delicious food, excellent wine and friendly staff, great customer service. First time but will not be the last. Highly recommended 5
A bit stingy with the whitebait for $18, averaging at 30cents per tiny whitebait, but otherwise tasty and pleasant
Cosy, good service, nice coffee and great cakes.
Friendly, and efficient service by the staff
Went for dinner in July 2020.
Food 4/5: Good quality, decent servings, but no 'X-factor'.
Service 4/5: Friendly, prompt, attentive but not overly so.
Price $$$: Appetisers, dinner, 2 drinks, dessert came to $85/head. A 'try it once' restaurant.
Experience 3/5: Nothing special.
While it does have a decent range of Greek food and embraces it's Greek heritage without being kitsch, it didn't give you an 'experience'. Modern Australians are familiar with at least half the menu, and there are hospitalities and aspects of Greek culture like 'γλυκά' and ouzo that would at least make it, well to be frank, worth the money. It's not bad, it's just not remarkable.
Delicious food, tasty deserts, yummy coffee liquers, fantastic atmosphere, great service thanks to the team vunderbar lol.
There were 12 of us.everyone was served together.everyone enjoyed the food service and vibe! Ps really good veg selection too.
Food and service were good. There was four of us and the food was a little expensive but delicious. Would go again to try some more of the food on the menu.
The outside tables were awesome, very good and attentive staff. The food was just great, we enjoyed every bit of it. The only thing downside was that we were charged for the extra bread we wanted. Other than that it was an awesome experience.
Food was good, service ok is a bit pricey, if you dined inn there was not much room, too crowded for my liking. No Covid distancing or Qr code or sign in from what I witnessed!
Love the cosy yet industrial brick interior of the restaurant.
We started off with the authentic Greek Sanganaki cheese, which is a must try at any Greek restaurants together with some bread with a beetroot and Coriander dip. 10/10 for the sanganaki, but a tip is to eat as soon as it arrive, as it could get abit hard.
For our main we shared the mixed platter (amongst 4 of us, which was a good portion) which sort of included a mix of everything from octopus, calamari prepared two ways - grilled and batter fried, prawns, chicken and lamb - prepared two ways - cutlets and yiros. It also accompanied with some rice. My favourite of the items was the prawn skewers. It had so much flavour!
The dessert menu looked intriguing, but we were too full to try it our, so we put on our boring pants and just had some old-school hot chocolate.
Totally recommend this restaurant but better get a reservation well in advance!
Recommend the moussaka and ‘the colossos’ which were both delicious. While the food didn’t change my life with flavour the restaurant ambience is really nice and would be great for ‘date nights’! Recommend to book as it can get busy and is very popular
We arrived 45 mins earlier than booked (group of 7 people), the staff promptly set up a table despite it being a busy Friday evening.
Very friendly and professional.
The food was superb, which was not a surprise
Highly recommended
It’s a popular restaurant and whilst you may be lucky to get a table by just turning up, it’s best to book. The menu caters for both traditional Greek food and a contemporary variation on Greek food. The waitresses are attentive without being intrusive and are so helpful. I have dined as a couple and as a group and the staff are brilliant. The food is plentiful, tasty and delivered in a timely fashion. I would recommend, quail, the colossus and seafood metaxa mains but their starters of feta and calamari deserve praise as does their chocolate kataiffi and risogalo for dessert. It has several dining areas and consequently you feel private and comfortable. Noise from others patrons is not a problem and they have a nice al fresco area too.
