Sturt Gorge Recreation Park reviews
36Some areas easily accessible but challenging if you have poor mobility. Quiet and plenty of wildlife
Absolutely stunning place for walking, hiking etc.some tracks are intense and require some tricky rock walking, but other areas are smooth just hills and dirt tracks. Great place for dogs, very scenic views too:)
I’m so glad to have discovered this awesome hiking trail not far from home. Was a bonus to see and hear many kookaburras. Loved the unpredictable way in which the trail winded. Will definitely be hiking here more often.
A bit scary at first (it was very high up) but after about 13 minutes of walking we were by the creek and it was amazing
Nice place.relaxing and entertaining
Would heal you if you hang around enough
These places hold the key to free up minds
Great place for a hike with the dog or mtn bike. LOTs of brown snakes in the summer month's. Saw 3 within 100m of each other on the gravel path on the Craigburn Farm side. If coming in late spring or summer. Keep your dog close on a short lead.
One of the best nature hikes so close to Adelaide. There are even a few geocache to find which adds to the fun.
Hard to believe this exists in middle of suburbia, various paths of different difficulties wind through here, watch the weather as high rainfalls makes paths very difficult to take. Always love my visits here, looking forward to bringing my dogs next time.
Nice tecky mtb tracks, along with awesome flowing tracks, a huge selection of mtbing here for advanced and newbies.
Great Gorge walk to small waterfalls along a winding river. Multiple crossings. You might end up with wet boots in winter.
Awesome place to go for a trail run, MTB, hike or just a casual stroll. Great technical trails so close to the suburbs
Well sign posted trails a good mix of terrains could use a bit of maintenance here and there but where would the thrill be if it was too well groomed, a very quiet spot considering where it is and will be back!
Variety of walking tracks to choose from with native vegetation and a lake and dam to the west of the rec park.
Great hiking gorge, quite steep for inexperienced hikers, but there are paths which are easy for beginners. We liked the dam. It is very quite there
We did the hike in Sturt Gorge Recreation Park last Saturday. It was a bit drizzly in the morning, but the color in the park got so much more vivid because of the grooming weather. We took our cat Parker with us this time. He loved being in the wilderness! We had him on a leash where he was walking proudly along side of us among the tranquility in the park. It’s moment like this that make you feel that life is indeed beautiful. ️
Very Fun hilly hike. Come prepared for some muscle toning activities. Nothing much at the base of the dam. More picturesque from the top and very easily assessable. Good place for a small picnic, just make sure to carry your rubbish with you after. I think there are some fresh water yabbies in the pools there. Catch and consume at your own risk
Nice bush walks. Saw lots of wildlife today. Even 3 different Koalas sitting low in trees, 3-4 meters above ground.
A gem hidden in suburban Adelaide. Lovely walks amoung shaded tree lined creeks and gullies. Lot's of walking options between easy and challenging. Plenty of mountain biking options too.
This was my first time hiking Sturt Gorge. We took the wattle track. Roughly 2hour hike. Very nice walk it would be gorgeous in the autumn and/or spring time. Plenty of Birdlife, we heard what sounded like a family of kookaburras laughing away together. We seen roo poo on the track So if your quiet enough you may even see one or two the view from the dam wall is stunning and don't forget to shout "ECHO" when you get to the top (my 20month old loved it)
It's definitely worth packing some snacks and plenty of water for the walk!
