St. Francis Xavier's Catholic Cathedral reviews
38I often go to the Cathedral for Sunday mass and special Catholic celebrations. Even on weekdays I drop by. It's good it's often open to come visit and pray. One thing is thst I just wish there is heating in there coz it's very chilly with the very high ceiling during winter. But the whole Cathedral is a peaceful place to connect with our Lord. The architectural design makes me feel Im in Cathedral in Rome. Though not as grand! Love our Cathedral
Peaceful. When at an off peak time to burn a candle and pray. Simple lines. Not ornate but inspiring!
Great and big catholic church with in Adelaide not the biggest but definitely most significant off of Victoria Square biggest Square in Adelaide Nothing compared to Central Park In New York but still picturesque
The church was very peaceful and beautiful.
One could have a silent prayer at this church away from the busy life of yours. You could introspect your life in a calm environment.
The church provides free candles for you to light and pray for the absolution and to get your prayers to be heard. Their was a priest in the confession cabin to do confession. Mass timings are shown in the photos.
I love very much with this Church and Thanks God as an Indonesian tourist i have 3 times joined on Sunday mass. And on the 3rd time Philip who likes me was very happy sit with me, hold my hands and we praise to the God
I am not religious in any way or form. However I love this beautiful cathedral, it is very special and I may be tempted to endure the meaningless rambling of a service just to visit this beautiful old cathedral again.
Solemn place. A step into a older time right at the heart of the city. Stained glass windows and wooden truss forms takes on away from the mundane troubles of daily life.
It's been my Church since highschool. I was confirmed there, my parents were married there. So been a big part of my life.
Beautiful old cathedral in the heart of Adelaide. Plenty of services to choose from all week long. Something for everyone. Also love the organ there. They just don't make them like they used to! Get right with God and pay a visit! You won't regret.
St Francis Xavier's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Adelaide, South Australia. It is classified as being a Gothic Revival building in the Early English style. The tower stands 36 m high and is 56.5 m lengthwise and 29.5 m horizontally.
Lovely peaceful cathedral in a nice part of Adelaide.somewhat austere but gothic in aspiration and style
A beautiful place of worship with stunning architecture. I drove from Melbourne to visit this church and did not disappoint. May God bless you all!
Living in Goa, India: St. Francis Xavier has deep significance for my family. A must visit while in Adelaide.
Was there for Easter Sunday mass with Archbishop of Adelaide doing the service and the Governor of South Australia in attendance it very beautiful service in an amazing cathedral a must visit even if your not a Catholic
Beautiful Old building, stained glass windows are spectacular; as are the marble floors; the architecture; check out the Christmas Crib! The priest who said the 9.00 am Mass was lovely, friendly, helpful and his sermon short, to the point, challenging, relevant. The parishioners friendly, music lovely. They are running in the 'new-ish' recently installed Canadian pipe organ. Come and hear, come & see!
Greetings.
Standing please to make a start, thank you.
Quite good exterior, although the candles were very strange. Flicky tricky switches on the candles. Quite dangerous. However, I really love the new organ from Canadia. Hmm yes, how nice. Great use of OT windows.
5 star rating,
bye now.
I love this church. I was looking for a church where we can go and light a candle. Beautiful architecture too.
When necessity brings me into town I often visit St Francis Xavier Cathedral. This time I brought my atheist husband to sit a while to gaze at the beautiful architecture. After my prayers, he remarked how "serene & peaceful" He is absolutely right a place of tranquility amongst the world woes, thank you
