St. Francis Xavier's Catholic Cathedral reviews
38Gorgeous church. Worth the visit and definitely a picture worthy stop in the heart of Adelaide.
If you're looking for a Catholic Cathedral, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral is a must. Solemn ambiance. Situated in Wakefield Street with breathtaking Jacaranda trees during summer.
Was nice.
Feels wrong to give it less than 5 stars given it is a Special Church.
But please, please can we fix whatever was wrong with the Audio system in the church. We were there for a wedding, which was nice. But having good audio would have been better
Love this church a lot. Its architecture both in and out are marvellous. I went during Christmas. Midnight mass was busy and lively. It has underground parking. Given this is a Roman Catholic Church, it was open on Christmas day.
Big chungus stepped on me there and i busted the absoloutley fattest nut ever my snake was so hard it actually withstood the hiroshima a bombs
My place of refuge. I always come here at least once a week to see a mass or even just to sit in silence. This place is so serene. Sitting inside for a few moments will give you a peace of mind. ️
This is my favorite church in Adelaide. I like the ceiling and the place is very peaceful and serene.
First visit in many years. Church Service was powerful. Several young men on altar throughout service. Possibly one ordained Priest with Deacons assisting. All dressed in white vestments.
Birthday Feast of Mary the Mother of Jesus.
Sung Mass, Young woman sang beautifully, Gregorian chant I believe. Heavenly
Located at the heart of Adelaide City.
Excellent day and night views.
Beautiful and serene church.
Friendly catholic community.
One of the historic Cathedral built 16th century in Adelaide, South Australia
The Cathedral is dedicated to the great 16th century Spanish Jesuit missionary saint who is also patron of the Church in Australia and patron of our first bishop Francis Murphy (1844-58). Initial construction began in 1851 and there has been various phases of activity leading to the installation of the tower in 1996.
Building of the Cathedral began in 1851, making it the oldest cathedral in Australia.
The tower was not completed until 1996 – 145 years almost to the day after workers had dug the first sod for the beginning of work on the Cathedral site.
The Cathedral is usually a busy place with several daily Masses, Rosary and confessions as well as weddings, baptisms and funerals.
It is both a Cathedral and a parish church, so there are usually many diocesan and parish events held here.
Very sad day. Funeral for my vili my cousins husband. We were close and I am broken hearted nut it's a lovely church
The most beautiful temple I cannot believe they build this in AUSTRALIA what a random place to build such beauty but ooooookay
PS I am Hindu so I know good buildings really well okay
Been so long im peace to attend mass ordinary days, good to being good and I do obey this church amen
Place of silence and encounter with God in the middle of the city. Beautiful building, confession regularly
A very beautiful cathedral, indeed, peaceful and serene, lending itself to a place for prayer or silent contemplation.
A lovely place to visit whatever your beliefs.
Nice architecture.
Spacious interior.
Has elements of the 1800 and early 1900 architectural design.
St. Francis Xaviers Cathedral has a gr8 history n has got a cultural vibe. The best part is that it is located in the heart of the city. Close to bus and tram stops. The parishioners are very welcoming and kind. If you are new to Adelaide then it is the best church to go and get to know people.
Tranquil, I feel as if God has called me to this church, feel very close and loved by God there, love the old style masses, priests, sacrastins and all envolved are very professional and helpful.
Beautiful building with do much history both in terms the growth of the Catholic faith and history of early days of Christianity in South Australia
