Sorrentos Cafe

We have meals at Sorrentos regularly. Never had an issue. Went 4 lunch today. Meal was divine as always. But disappointed with the rude staff member. Looked like she was in charge. Not a good Mentor 4 the other 2 girls behind the counter.

For a coffee shop in mt gambier you'd think they'd fix the air con. Gave me my drink here coffee in a takeaway cup. They have that stupid system where they ask you what table you're at. I just walked in, how should I know?

On January 7th, with 4 friends we decided to have a drink at Sorrento Cafe. After drinks, we decided to check the menu. We all decided to eat a pizza each.

I was split between vegetarian that sounded good, but it had too many items on it (never a good sign) or a salmon pizza.

We lined up for ordering. I was the last. After my first friend who ordered and paid realised he could have had a pizza a beer deal. The second one got his pizza and beer. My third friend who doesn't drink beer offered his beer to me, but I said no, I am ordering a pizza.

I asked for a pizza and beer deal. I was told salmon pizza isn't included.

I looked up the menu to find something else. Should I give the veggie a chance? I decided Nah, I can order a salmon. Then it occurred to me, the veggie pizza was 19 dollars, while the salmon was 20. I am already feeling slighted because I could have got the free beer from the other friend.

Then I checked the menu and it said 'any pizza and beer. '

I asked about a clarification before I paid. The server said she will bring it up to the manager later. I realised she was trying to ditch me. I am like that doesn't help.

A senior staff saw this conversation. Which I was quite calm, I believe. She came and yell at me to not give hard time to junior staff. Never do that she said. And she also ok'd having a beer.

At this stage, I am thinking I am getting a pizza with spit on it.

I went back, sat down and explained the situation to my friends. They are all joking that we will get terrible food.

The senior staff came and threw the menu at me and said read it was public holidays not included.

I am like what public holiday are you talking about?

she grabs it back paused and found read it says conditions apply. I am like why not take any pizza out? She is don't give hard time to junior staff anymore.

I am thinking is this really happening?

Surprisingly my undercook pizza arrived first.

We noticed all pizzas were done on a grocery store pizza base with holes on them.

I make better pizza than this.

Spare yourself some time and store-bought gravlax, cheese, bread and rockets. It would be tastier and no one yells at you.

Pizza and pasta here are nice. Had the chorizo and prawn pasta and the dijon chicken pizza, both were good. The garlic and parmesan bread was something different (tasty though). Servers here were nice. They can easily host large groups.

Great pizza and pasta. Food took quite a long time to come out, however staff were friendly and patient despite a busy period

Very bad BBQ meat lover pizza. It was too sweet and jut ham and some few pieces of chicken.
I couldn't have it and paid for it.

Beautiful food 10 /10, clean restaurant and friendly staff. We had take away desserts as we were too full to eat them. We will be stopping in for dinner on our way back to Melbourne. Thank you for an amazing meal, the beer tasting plate was fun

Could not rate this place enough for beer. Brewed locally by the owner and the beers absolutely amazing.

We arrived during quiet hours when full menu was not available, but even what was available was very reasonable. We had a nice late lunch. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were on a long journey with 3 kids, and found it very nice and relaxing. Thank you.

After being invited to grab a table left after waiting 15 mins without anyone approaching the table to offer us lunch or drink menu's. Very disappointed

Ordered a mug of coffee and received a cup, got told they ran out of cups only after I asked. After waiting 50 minutes and for our breakfast we were greeted with a small serving. Ordered mushrooms as an extra and got 3 halves lol. Coffee was good that’s why they get one star.

Food was ok but had egg shells in my salad. When I pointed it out, the girl said sorry but didn't really care. Didn't pass it on to the chef/cook.

We all ordered the sirloin and none of us were disappointed. The chef must be commended on how the steak was cooked, we loved our meal. Many thanks!

There on a Monday afternoon, so not busy, so appreciated the very attentive waitress. Menu options were good. A lovely environment.

Food on the menu is overpriced. Some staff were happy and some looked like they would rather be yelling down a tunnel or being at home in bed. Some light music would pick up this food outlet.

I dined here the other day to find out what all the hype was about.honestly think some food items are over priced.

Very friendly customer service. Ladies were lovely. Plus food came out on time. Also they were open on Easter Sunday.

Went in for a birthday lunch (mine) yesterday. Our Caesar salads were substandard - tough Cos leaves, cut into strips across the leaves (including the stalks), poached egg straight from the fridge and inadequately nuked to pretend that it was fresh. And $21+ for a G & T and a bottle of Great Northern. Plenty of excuses for the meal but nothing else. Won't be back, guys.

Actually 5290 function room which is owned by Sorrento, Great small function room for parties, food available from Sorrento kitchen and a pretty good bar.
