46Absolutely wonderful food, and the owner and staff are so lovely. We go here every time we want Japanese food now:) Great quality every time too.
The location is in Melbourne street with number of restaurants and coffee shops around. The staff were very friendly and the service was good and quick. Nice selection of drinks. The decor was dated and not very well maintained (which matches the food) with Japanese elements in it. Traditional seating is available. We ordered two appetisers and two mains. The sashimi salad was not very good! The combination doesn't quite work together. For sushis you could definitely tell that they don't taste fresh and smell a bit. Chicken teriyaki was the best dish although it was a bit too salty. The pork katsu with rice and caramelised onion and egg on top was a sample of sloppy food prep! The pork katsu should be crispy and juicy which wasn't in this case. The miso soup was average.
Very tasty Japanese food in Melbourne St North Adelaide. Sashimi of different seafood, Katatsu chicken and green tea icecream. Very friendly staff including the Chef
One of the places I would go to for a decent Japanese dinner in Adelaide, and the service is the second to none.
Went here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was fantastic! Service was great, food was delicious and the restaurant itself was nicely furnished and decorated. Definitely going back and worth a try if you haven’t been before!
Delicious food, variety of sitting options for the guests and quick service. Love the decor and the cleanliness.
The most attentive and polite staff, amazing food, great owner, generous spirit and relaxing environment.
We love eating at Sato's, the food is always high quality and delicious. Owner is generous and friendly as are the staff. You wont regret eating here.
Super Yummy! Really like their high quality food and relaxing environment!
Definitely worth a try
Banquet menu was delicious, big servings and well priced. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Fantastic service.
I went here with my japanese class on an excersion and the food was really nice, great and friendly staff. The katsu chicken is amazing, as is their green tea ice cream. I would definitely recomend visiting here. Also, I don't remember where, but somewhere in the restaurant there's something that says "sato does not stand for south Australian taxation office" and that was funny.
Wonderful banquet meal. Beautiful friendly and gentle staff. The full range of Japanese flavours. We will be back.
It was a nice surprise to find this place and also find it has great Japanese food, also they have rice beer which is delicious! Thanks!
The food here is great! Sashimi was ultra fresh, and the sushi was tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. This place is one of the standouts on Melbourne street. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic Japanese restaurant - visited soon after coming back from my second trip to Japan and I was amazed how authentic it is. Perfectly done food and some great sake and Japanese beers on offer. Definitely recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant! The staff are so cute and friendly. Food was exotic and delicious.
One of the best place around for Japanese cuisine. Sashimi were fresh, the pot rice came in extremely generous portions and were a delight to eat, the udon soup was just a stunning flavour bomb that made me put down my spoon and chopstick, picked up my bowl, and drank all of it. Also, Waiters were polite and service was prompt. Definitely will come again.
Pretty good quality sashimi and decent katsudon. Abit pricier due to the higher than average standard Japanese restaurant. Nice and authentic atmosphere.
The food was of fantastic quality and the experience would be fine if there was only one customer in the restaurant. But we were a party at 6 and the restaurant was moderately busy but we spent a lot of time waiting for food, with the first three people getting served 20 minutes before the last three. Many groups who came in after us we're getting served well before us; one couple turning up, ordering, eating and leaving before we even saw our food. Perhaps choose a quiet time and take a small group and you might be fine.
A nice traditional setting with the utmost attentive service gives this classic styled Japanese restaurant a beautiful ambience that cannot be matched by the likes of any uptown Oriental restaurant.
Five stars is most certainly not overstating the value and quality of the cuisine available in this quaint place, and after you have been there once or twice, you'd fall in love with the overall atmosphere I have come to love as Sato's.
