Rickshaw Inn Chinese Restaurant reviews
32We ordered salt and pepper squid, but got almost burnt deep fried battered squid with no salt and pepper seasoning. Fried rice was very plain. Hokkien Noodles were a bit bland. Overall very disappointed.
Has been around for as long as I can remember. Not much from the outside, but wait till you get inside. To be around for so long, you must be doing something right. I have been going here off and on for 30 years. Very quaint decor, what you would expect from an old-time Chinese restaurant. Staff have always been helpful and friendly. The food is great, and I never had a bad takeaway meal. Haven't eaten in as yet, but maybe that should change. Pring is not over the top, very affordable. So if you are looking for a really good, well priced Chinese meal, then this place comes highly recommended.
If you're looking for the ultimate retro Chinese Restaurant that looks like it is straight out of the early '90's, this is it!
The food was of a good quality and quantity and I'll be back for sure.
The only problem was the shared carpark. Holes there large enough that you could lose your grandmother in them.
Seems someone is taking offense to the popularity (maybe Uber Eats) of this small family restaurant. Okay the decor is tired but that's where the negativity stops. Portions are large, staff are always friendly. It is more suited to takeaway and has a large customer base collecting takeaways.
It is our go to Chinese Restaurant in the Modbury area.
Iconic and tasty and my choice for Chinese in the area. Really well priced banquet options for 2+ people.
The Rickshaw in is THE BEST Chinese restaurant around without a doubt. We have been going here for 45years and it just keeps getting better. The team are wonderful and always remember you when you order but during covid they very kindly cooked meals for us to last for 4 days which kept my elderly mother safe and very well fed plus we too were also sustained when we were not feeling up to cooking. My friend dropped it at our door for us. I can not speak highly enough of this amazing restaurant. If you have not tried there meals yet you are really missing a great feed.
Love their rice, their fried chicken but I literally drive for half slan hour just for their satay beef; it is so tender and saucy. I'd add 6 stars if could. Been going there for years and will continue. My personal favourite Chinese takeaway spot in Adelaide.
FANTASTIC POPULAR FAMILY RESTAURANT FOR 40 YEARS SAME FAMILY. PERSONALLY WE HAVE BEEN PATRONIZING FOR 40YEARS SINCE WE MOVED TO MODBURY HEIGHTS IN 1980. DECIDED ON YUMMY TAKE AWAY TONIGHT FOR CASUAL RELAXATION WITH THE FAMILY. I ORDERED AS A TREAT FOR US, 2 EXTRA LARGE SPECIAL FRIED RICE, FOUR TREASURE DUCK, GARLIC SCALLOPS, AND FROM THE CHEFS SPECIALS - MONGOLIAN LAMB (HOT AND SPICY) AND MONGOLIAN FILLET STEAK (HOT AND SPICY). IT'S BLOODY DELICIOUS AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY AND ENJOYING THEMSELVES. OWNER AND STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND GAVE COMPLIMENTARY PRAWN CHIPS. ONLY WAITED 10-15 MINUTES. GREAT PRICES FOR GREAT VALUE TOP TASTE. HAVE A GREAT HALLOWEEN
Excellent food at very reasonable prices.
The decor could do with a spruce but that is not so important. We will be back!
Tim Geddes (of Geddes wines) recommended this restaurant, it was as good as said. Go again in a heartbeat.
I had a pad thai from here - it was delicious, nicely garnished and a generous serving too. Nice quiet dine-in atmosphere and friendly service.
The Banquet for Two was just right. The staff are very lovely and humble. Good food indeed
The prices are realistic
We are looking for a new place to get our Chinese this place is not it! Worst fried rice ever the rest was bland and forgettable
Rickshaw inn always has great food have been going there for 30 years plus you can even eat in if you want.the staff are always friendly and polite.
Food is reasonable, been there twice, first time the beef satays were made from an old shoe (well that is how tough they were) and last time, the spring rolls were burnt. Eat in menu is pricey.
Basic menu that hasn't changed in 20 years but always reliable great taste, used to be the best prices around but is getting pricey. (like everywhere)
Been looking for a nice local chinese restaurant and after trying a few, we have found it.
Tried it on a Saturday night for the first time and will be back.
Quick service, 15 mins to make up about 6 dishes.
Nice, light, tasty dim sims. The spring rolls appeared to be home made, good ratio of filling to pastry.
Had chicken and sweet corn soup + short soup, a little salty but generous portions.
Went with my favourites Honey King Prawns and Mongolian Lamb. Not too much batter on the prawns and tasty sauce on the lamb.
Also had sweet and sour pork. The pork was a little tough but nice sauce.
My partner had combination chop suey and fresh mushrooms + vegetables. Apparently reminded of a restaurant went to many years ago so thumbs up. The veggies all seem to be fresh and cooked well.
Nice generous sizes, we got about 4 meals out of our order.
And reasonable pricing.
As above, will be back.
Haven't visited this store in quite a while and just bought fried rice and prawn crackers as my son is a fussy eater. Was tastier than previous visits and owners have been there forever so other food must be good too.
Great friendly service, the food was delicious, we will be back for sure! Lovely relaxed family environment.
Great Food and Staff are lovely. They make the best Mongolian Lamb! We still go back even though we have now moved away from the area.
