Pipers of Penola reviews
55I ended up in this special setting by chance. Without exception, the dishes were of absolute top quality and the service was both personal and cordial. A real hit!
Breakfast was delicious. The breakfast menu isn"t elaborate but definitely caters to everyone. The staff were warm and friendly. Amazing staff.
Absolutely love getting my Sunday morning pastries & coffee from Pipers! Amazing service and always such a delicious range of pastries to take away. The coffee is superb too!
Chanced upon this nice cozy restaurant on our roadtrip in Australia. Celebrated our friend’s 50th with good food and attentive service from the staff!
One of best places I have dined in. It was for our wedding anniversary and I would highly recommend it for any occasion. We have told so many people about how good it is.
Entree was luke warm as was my main venison. Staff were friendly and efficient. Very disappointing
Amazing food and service from some very special people! Blessed to have such amazing quality in the regions.
This restaurant may be over rated. Alas! In the land of the blind the one eyed is the king! The scallops and quail for entree were reasonably good. You may call the flavours subtle or bland! The Robe Snapper was a bit chewy and the shaved truffle potato had very little truffle and the safron cream had no hint of safron. The dim lights and a dying candle negated any visual perception of the food we ate! There were long waits from order to entree and from entree to mains. The Ruma baba had an exotic description but was quite plain. The price was exorbitant for the quality. Why drive from Mount Gambier when there are better choices in town?
After hearing so many good things about Pipers, my wife and I finally made it to the Coonawarra for the weekend and had dinner with friends at Pipers last Saturday night. It was everything that we could ask from a higher level restaurant and so much more. We all try different appetisers and main courses, my seared kingfish was an absolute delight with a beautiful balance of taste and texture. Instead of dessert, two of us went for the cheese platter and at that point ordered the always wonderful 2008 Katnook Odyssey which we thought was very reasonably priced.
The service was both warm and attentive without ever being obtrusive, the noise level was ideal in that we knew we were in a crowded restaurant but never struggled to hear each other. In fact we had such a good time that we went back the next morning for their once a week (Sunday mornings) breakfast which was also very enjoyable.
I can't wait to go back again and try some of the other menu items which all looked so good!
Lovely place with great food and service and a cracking wine list. Highlights for me were homemade dumplings and a seriously good main of venison.
Unbelievable experience. Staff fantastic. Food never ceases to amaze. One of life's special occasions.
Our first evening, the food was fantastic, so we went back the next night. The prawn dumplings are amazing! The staff are wonderful, the atmosphere and location are beautiful. Highly recommend and if we come back to Penola, we’ll be eating there a third time! Loved it!
Perfectly considered menu, uncluttered, beautifully cooked & presented meals of local, fresh produce. A little more expensive than others but worth it for the delicious food, relaxed fine dining setting and impeccable service. An added plus is the chewy melt in the mouth bread now for sale in loaves on Sundays - get in quick!
It would be worth driving from Adelaide to Penola solely to eat at Pipers. Fantastic food and fantastic service, an amazing establishment that shouldn't be missed.
Thank you again Simon and Erika. The 5 x 5 dinner was extraordinary, fantastic food and service. Congratulations to you and your staff, you do a wonderful job. Craig P.
This place was absolutely wonderful. It’s an old Church. Loved the decor. Staff were very attentive & friendly. The food was next level, delicious, highly recommend it if you are in the Coonawarra Region
Cool converted church, food was exceptional especially for a small country town, can vouch highly for the apple turnover, staff were very good atmosphere was a little lacking and the toilets needs updating bur don't let that stop you, book early as they're always busy
Another terrific night at Pipers and a culinary triumph from Simon and the team. Food and service was brilliant, and the ambience terrific.
Lovely setting, beautiful menu and top notch service. Such a wonderful building and love, love that it has carpet! Wine list is comprehensive and having been to a number of cellar doors, there is not a huge mark up.
We enjoyed our evening and will definately be back.
