Phonatic Restaurant reviews
73Very tasty phó. I had the beef and the Mrs had chicken. Both very good. Probably a little small for the regular for the price, but pretty cool venue to get a nice atmosphere
Absolutely terrible experience at Phonatic on Sunday evening. I ordered two fried egg Bahn Mi rolls and was disappointed to find that one of them had pork in it. I returned to the restaurant to request a refund and the staff members took the rolls away from me to the kitchen and then returned with two egg rolls and claimed that I was lying about the meat.
This level of dishonesty was absolutely disgusting and I'm unbelievably disappointed as a regular customer. I was refused a refund as the staff claimed I was lying and then actively attempted to gaslight me.
You have lost my business for good and I will not be returning.
The whole experience was alright. Food is on the average, although I should say that their sizzling beef and caremelised pork belly were cooked pefectly. The baos were a little bit dry, as it doesn't have any sauce unlike other baos we've tried. The phonatic spring rolls were like the tiniest and the special fried rice isn't that flavourful. What I enjoyed most is the coconut coffee shake. Overall, food is alright, service was superb and venue is cozy but cramped.

Grabbed a drink here after dinner. Nice little place, lovely staff and right across from our hotel. Brilliant service with a smile. Food looked really good although we didn’t have any!
Fantastic food.
Great service.
Affordable.
Accepts AMEX.
Highly recommend when visiting Adelaide.
We had a lovely Pho and Bun bowl for dinner here, excellent food and service as well as eclectic furnishings.
A $18 bowl of combination of beef pho feels more like a $13 one and tables here are never clean, poor restaurant.
Great Vietnamese food for Adelaide. Very cute vibe with good food. The waiters seemed stressed and always in a rush. Nice food but lots of used dishes surrounding the bar so wasn’t pleasant to look at.
The staff was very friendly and professional. Food and drinks are well priced and proportional. Will definitely eat here again.
Vietnamese coffee was average not as strong like you expected to get in Vietnam. The Pho and Bun Rieu was pleasant. 2 out of 3 staff that served our table had a very good attitude and was always very friendly except for the grumpy one girl who was quite grouchy when we spoke to her about our food orders that kept us waiting for 30mins after our coffee came. Will return again.
Food, service, atmosphere was fantastic. Couldn't fault it, highly recommend if you enjoy Vietnamese food
Fantastic service, and extremely tasty Banh Mi rolls and cold rolls. Their prices are great considering the quality of the food!
We visited from Melbourne and it was the first restaurant we tried. Tu the waitress/manager was sooo nice and helpful with the menu and service. They accidentally cleared a plate and she made up some food for us, and also told us when we doubled up on an order to recommend other dishes! Best ever. Food was great!
Highly recommend this place. Hands down the best food and service in my experience. Food was really good, huge portion, authentic and fantastic flavors. The service was top notch with so much attention to us party of 7 people. One staff accidentally took an unfinished plate as our friend went away for a little while. Honest mistake but they completely gave him a new bowl of the meal. We went back again for their Bahn mi and it was fantastic.
I came for some take away orders, and while they are not busy, only a few customers, the staff ask me to leave the table so their customer can pick the table they like, it’s so mean, I am customer as well. And then I have to wait for almost an hour for the food, while people come after me almost done their meal. I’m very disappointed! Otherwise the food is very good.
Phonatic is utterly Phantastic
The Restaurant has a cool quirky atmosphere that is welcoming and cozy. There is a real industrial feel about the decor that I like.
Anyway, what you're here for is the food. It's incredible. The salt and pepper tofu is to die for. The best I've had. I've been to Phonatic twice now and had the tofu Bun Bowl and both times it was perfect. It's fresh, big and the bowl balance is right on. There's a generous serving of tofu and lots of chilli if thats your jam.
The rest of the menu covers all of your Vietnamese favourites and is extensive. You'll find something for everyone.
There always seems to be a staff member when you need one too and they are super friendly and helpful.
Best Vietnamese in Adelaide. Love it.
Nice food! The phonatic pork roll was super tasty. Also lovely service. Great vibe inside and great location. Open later than most, and with reasonable pricing.
So fresh and clean meals unbelievable best pho chicken I have tasted and the pork pad Thai looked amazing and tasted even better. Do yourself a favour and go try, with a cocktail bar to match.
It was a first time I visited by friend's recommendation. However, the quality of food should be improved. Plus there was an unexpected baby cockroach in my Vietnamese pancake. I got refunded from the dish but still feel afraid to be back again.
The 3 star has given coz the service was nice.
