New India Restaurant reviews
65We snagged a Groupon deal for some grub, getting chicken tikka, rita, and papadum to kick things off. The chicken's got that perfect marinade, Rita's a double dose of refreshment, and the papadum? Crispy heaven. For mains, we picked beef masala and chicken curry – both winners with well-balanced flavors. Beef's got that savory kick, while the chicken's got a hint of sweetness from tomatoes. The meat? Super tender. Rice was on point, fragrant, and the plain nan rocked with the curry. Finished it off with homemade mango ice cream – creamy, dreamy, and the crushed pistachio added a nice crunch. Overall, a bang-for-your-buck and oh-so-yummy experience!
Went here on a groupon deal for my birthday with hubby. Whilst the building was old it was very clean. We were amazed at the quality of the meal. All piping hot, papadams, tikka masala, sauces, two main course curries of choice, naam bread, steamed rice and icecream desert to share. Chilled caraffe of water. Total for everything $35! Unbelievably good value and service. Lovely waitress. Highly recommended.
Close to North Tce trams to city train station. Thankyou New India for a very special birthday outing.
Lost count of how many times we ve been to the New India.
My husband and myself absolutely love the food. It's a 10/10 from us everytime.
I went to the restaurant with my family last week. We order different variety of curries. The taste was great. Great options for street food. The owner and and front staff was friendly and nice. Overall good experience.
Visited in July. Mixed feelings as the chicken biryani was good but the vegetable curry and tandoori chicken was sub par. Owner is friendly and staffs are alright but the food is a miss.
Their service was good and the persons at cash counter (probably the owners) were polite, so that gets 2 stars.
Rest, food was really ordinary, none of the curries had any taste, couldn't find flavour at all. The naans weren't good as well.
Although the portion size were alright.
$14 for rice plus 2 curries. Very small portions, hardly any meat. Taste ok. Can get better elsewhere.
Possibly the least authentic and disappointing ‘Indian’ food I’ve ever been served. Tandoori roti was oily and not dry? ! There was no fresh coriander on the dahl tadka, the aloo jeera tasted more of chilli than cumin and was served soggy and not dry. Need I go on…
I ordered from this restaurant via Uber Eats based on online reviews but I can’t help but think those reviews are not independent…
I just tasted the street food in the new Indian restaurant…itsss really nice i tried the pani puri and choked bhature. The all ones were very delicious.along with them the quality of service was Vry nice.
Great food for a reasonable price, plus you can get some discount from the Eat Club app. Not too busy so you can get plenty of seats. The curries were packing a lot of flavour and tasted amazing with the garlic Naan.
Food was not good as the ratings are so high
Malai kofta is so sour in taste and kadahi panner is full of oil.
And waiting time is so long
We have to wait around 45 min
Not recommended as it get 4.3 star ratings

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this restaurant. My partner and I were the only customers there, and it still took an outrageous 20-25 minutes for our daal chawal to arrive. When the food finally did come, it was a complete mess. They couldn't even get a simple dish right! It's unacceptable that they couldn't properly prepare such a basic meal.
To make matters worse, there was no one available to serve our table. We had to keep getting up and going to the counter just to get attention from the staff. It was incredibly frustrating and disruptive to our dining experience. The person who eventually brought our food was extremely rude and had the worst behavior I have ever seen from a restaurant employee. It was a complete turn off, and it made us feel like we weren't valued as customers.
To add insult to injury, the papadam that came with our meal was all soggy and cold. It was clear that they had been sitting out for a while before they were brought to our table. It was a small thing, but it just added to the overall poor quality of the meal.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The slow service, poor food quality, terrible behavior from the staff, and cold, soggy papadam made for an unpleasant experience. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else where you can actually enjoy a decent meal and be treated with respect.
Loved the food. Great ingredients and well prepared. Friendly service and excellent value for money.
We sat down and ordered our meals.
Restaurant empty and now we know why. Tandoori chicken was terrible. Mainly breast and all dry and inedible.
Vindaloo beef and fish curry were good.
Staff offered me a chicken tikka entre instead which was better but I should have been offered refund for tandoori instead.
That’s where they get you. You order at counter!
Will not return.
I went there with my family of 10 people. We tried all different indian street food such as pav bhaji, pani puri, choley bhatura, dahi puri.
Also my parents love rajma and kadi with rice.
It was amazing experience.
Brilliant food, reasonably priced and fantastic service. Best Indian food I’ve had in Australia.
Service was nice and friendly. Meals were served fairly quickly. Food was delicious. Will definitely come back back
It was a lovely and calm atmosphere, very delicious food. Gopal and the team are very welcoming and ready to assist families with young baby. We really enjoyed our dinner.
Highly recommended
Ps: must try the cheese naan with butter chicken
Food was mediocre. Serving sizes had dropped ever since I remembered, what would usual fit us have no longer become enough. I rather they increase prices and give the same portion sizes. But aside from that, quality of food has dropped.
Service was good. Moved quickly and gave our food without disruption. Polite and nice service.
Terrible food! The worst indian food I have had so far. Serving size is tiny. A serve of butter chicken barely has any chicken in it. I’d call it chickenly butter instead, oh wait, you can’t actually taste the butter lol. Even butter chicken from Aldi is way better. All curries are liquidy, lack of texture and flavor. Way overpriced for tiny portions. I won’t recommend anyone to come. If you really have a craving for indian food. Go to woolies/coles/aldi buy the ready yo eat indian meals, Trust me they taste a mile better than the food from this place.
