Martindale Hall reviews
54Fantastic, classic old building with authentic history and a real story to tell. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit.
Lots of history on this fascinating building and it's surrounding, The people who lived and worked there, The town of Mintaro.great place to visit. The movie hanging rock was filmed there to. Recommend visiting on your travels.
Colonial elegance a wonderful building furnished with items from the late 1800s.
The best Colonial squattocracy exhibit I have experienced. Entry fee $15 pp but worth it.
If you're in the Clare Valley try to include it, you won't be disappointed.
Absolutely amazing.the history, and the detail.a step back in time to rural Australian opulence.serioysly worth a vist
It gives you a glimpse of how rich people lived back in time and you seem to be transported to their era. Many people have complained about the fees; true that the fee could be little less like $10 pp but it’s still worth it. I truly enjoyed my trip.
Meh. Was told it was the place to go but not sure what to make of it. Didn't go inside but understand that there is a fee. Interesting to see a mansion in the middle of nowhere. Makes me wonder why someone would build it there
Beautifully presented; heritage building with a significant detail in each room of how the Bowman family and their employees lived. Definitely worth visiting.
Exploring Martindale Hall is like being transported to Europe!
It has been beautifully maintained and restored with priceless treasures still on display. The grandeur is an oddity especially considering how isolate the estate would have been at its construction. We arrived at opening on a Sunday morning and had the place to explore for ourselves. Have been wanting to visit for ages and recommend that you do also!
Just a short drive from Mintaro main street, sits the regal Martingale Hall.
This historic building is steeped in history and sits amongst beautifully manicured gardens.
Fun fact for movie buffs; MDH was a chosen movie set location for the iconic Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Unfortunately it was closed when we visited, but will endeavour to return when we next visit out that way.
I drove a group of 20 lovely ladies here today.
It was excellent.
The commentary brilliant.
It's great to see what it was like back in the day, and what they went through.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
I truly recommend going here.
Martindale Hall is full of history and interesting facts about the different owners of Martindale Hall. Entry is $15 per adult with no concession.
I love historical buildings, this one was really great to go through. Still in process of being fully ready for visitors as some places were inaccessible. I would have liked to look at the top floor. Definitely worth the picturesque drive in the country to see.
Historic building with entry to see, all set on a scenic estate, there is a fee to get in, & no bags or backpacks allowed. It set back in time to show how they lived & what they used, beautifully reconstructed. Signeage to area is good, & not to far from the maze.
Well worth a look
Soooo fascinating and impressive! A beautiful place to learn about SA history and to admire beautiful architecture.
Beautiful old house but $15 entry fee and as well as a donation box at the entry gate is too expensive to view a house.
Without a doubt an exceptional English Home. Worth a visit for anyone in the area that wants to feel as if they are in England. It's main foyer is very reminiscent of the Adelphi Hotel Liverpool!
A really cool experience into how rich people lived in the 1800s.
It was a very interesting and enlightening experience seeing the set up which told a story of how the affluent and the servants lived a long long time ago.
The fee to enter was a bit steep I thought with $15 a head and $8 for children.
Considering what was there, $10 would have been a bit fairer and more value for money.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Hall and grounds. Such a wonderful piece of history preserved in a beautiful location ️ we would love to go on a guided tour of the hall one day if those are ever offered!
My family enjoyed the history behind this magnificent piece of work! But the entry fee (even after the discount) is kind of expensive for me.
