Karen’s Diner reviews
37The idea is great. Some fun effects when you have to bang on the window to get in, self seve yourself because the staff can't be bothered, or guess which cocktail is what because they just plonk them on the table but don't care to tell you. Although I found some of the execution rather dull. The staff all pull long faces all time long. A sprinkle of humour would have made me come back another time. But who feels great after an hour of grim rudeness in their face? Once-only experience for me.
Went for a catch up today. Food was really good, the guys and girls working there were great, shout out to Tash and Daniel. Unfortunately it did take a while to get our order and then food, but were told that they had some issues in the kitchen. Please parents don't take your 13 year old girls with high pitched voices to Karen's, or at least teach them to turn the volume down.
All in all we had a great time
Like the idea of the theme restaurant and the staff did play their part. Food/ drink was a disappointment, had to wait nearly a hour and a half for food and only got to order and get one drink all night. One of our meals (hot dog) was burnt black on the bottom of the bun, couldn't eat it. Bar and kitchen were called closed before our meals and drinks arrived. Basically had to shove our meals in in the last 15 min before they told us there shutting time.
The theme was a good concept, staff were in character but the kitchen let the whole experience down badly.
Food and cocktails were amazing - Staff were rude and loud which was extremely entertaining and funny. Loved going here with a group of friends and watching them to the activities at the front was very funny. Winning activities to get a percentage off your total bill was also really good - we won 10% by singing and dancing YNCA. Very fun - something everyone should experience at least once. They also made it clear that if you’re not comfortable to say so and they will stop so there’s always an option for people who don’t like it but they can still enjoy the food and the entertainment around them
Was a great and fun experience, had Rory and another young lass that I didn't catch her name.
Both fire crackers and great performers
Will be back thanks legends
A little adventure for JJ who had been dying to see the restaurant chain with best worst service in the world
These reviews omg shut up. You went there for the rude experience and they executed perfectly. The loud music, I liked because it gave the place that burger bar feel. I also liked the random flipping the bird. (Person that didn't needs to get over themself) They did a great job.
Great food, Tash, Sarah, Caleb, Matilda, all did a fabulous job, good laugh, will definitely be back!
Somewhat funny at the start, but when you have to wait 30 minutes for loaded chips that even my dog would turn his nose away from, it kills the mood. All the staff do is swear at you and walk away when requesting service.
They drop the menus at your face
They aren’t even real karans
There just annoying stubby people trying to be cool
Plus they swear at you
They're actually kinda nice to us because we were nice to them and the food was good and very funny employees
Waited for 30min to order.
20min After that one burger came, then eventually (after we asked for em) the (partly wrong) cocktails came.
40min after initial ordering, the food came which was not too bad.
He’ll ask for sauce on the coleslaw, which, you should consider cuz it’s just raw cabbage and cut carrots.
Despite that, which they probably fix soon ish maybe: Air con wasn’t working.
We, three ppl, sat facing a wall for the entire time.
All the acting and stuff granted (which is the intention and everything and I’m not criticizing that) was annoying after all the above.
Maybe we’ve just been very unlucky. And they seriously apologized for the inconveniences.
Would suggest to eat dinner somewhere else before coming here. I don’t think they would pass a health inspection. The one is for the good laugh. The disappointing food is a 45 min wait and you can wash it down once the drink comes after dinner
Go for the comedy value and that's it! Lower your standards if you want a properly cooked hot dog and a $10 can of beer that the waitress tipped out with out replacing, never again pop up shop.
Went today and got plenty of laughs. Got told off, ridiculed and abused just as expected and it was hilarious. Not for the faint hearted, but well worth the experience
Experienced Karen's Diner last night with some girlfriends. Had a fun night, we knew what we were in for, (obviously the other reviews didn't) quite entertaining and interacting. The food was delicious especially the cheeseburger spring rolls.
Would recommend to try, even just once as it is a fun night.
Not only was it shut, they didn't even bother to update the website. I get that Karen's is supposed to be rude but surely they would think to update business opening hours
