Grange Hotel reviews
52This place has definitely lost it's way. Prime beach front pub but they have no idea how to run it. It has no vibe, it's tired. The bar staff are a miserable bunch. I found them rude and disinterested.
No food service between 3 and 530.not even fries.
Long wait to get service at the front bar.one server and others doing cleaning rather than attending to customers.
Great location though
We had a large table for family birthdays by the window with views to the sea.
Food was absolutely delicious, I had the best gluten free burger. Kid friendly, good service too. We will definitely go back there
Really great location watching the sun go down over the beach. Service was good. Food not bad but not cheap. I had the crab chilli pasta. At $36 not cheap and needed more crab and chilli. Other mains (schnitzel, steak and a vegetarian salad) were also okay. Not many GF options.
Terrible service, excessive wait times, average food at restaurant prices. Extremely disappointing
Food was ok. Service was terrible. Had to poor my own drinks into glass at the bar twice. As there was no table service. Plenty of staff doing nothing it seemed.
Top spot for a pub meal with friends or family! Gorgeous beach views, clean facilities and staff are helpful and friendly. Main issue is parking during busy, balmy nights but it's worth the extra walk to enjoy the food here.
Terrible food which was inedible. The staff did their best to remedy the situation but would not offer a replacement meal or a refund. Unfortunately will not be returning
Just had Australia Day lunch, absolutely beautiful, staff were great.
Keep up the great work.
Really Bad
Charged a Public Holiday surcharge on a weekday, no service, food was excessively slow, and can't cook salmon. Not recommended.
I was a touch disappointed! I was expecting a bit more than just a pub. The kitchen was closed and all I could get was crisps.we waited until the kitchen opened and the olives and dips plate was disappointing.it doesn't take much but a bit of pride in what you are serving guys.
Terrible service, very inattentive staff, but the food is a 9/10 with excellent portion sizes. Very talented and flexible kitchen.
Mike the manager treated my mother with disrespect, lied to her face and didn't let her sit at a table she reserved! Atrocious service.
I live locally and have been twice. Both times The Grange let us down in the same way. The food is decent, better than most, although pretty expensive for what it is. But this is not the issue. The service is really poor. Waiters are tearing around everywhere in a seemingly permanent state of chaos. They seem to be doing their best, but the look flustered, and never seems to be helping you! After a very long time you might be served. We needed to wave someone down, interrupting their chaotic wanderings. But then drinks take forever to arrive. This time I just went and got them myself. Ask for Tomato sauce, it never arrives.need to ask again. Worst of all, the place is super-noisy if its busy. I mean crazy noisy! My family gave up trying to talk to each other at the table as it was just insane. And it really wasn't *that* busy. We ate and left. Operationally this place needs to pull its socks up and train its staff properly. Sadly, I wont be going back anytime soon.
A positive experience! We just dropped in on NYE for a drink and had a lovely time sitting out front without head-banging music drowning out any possible conversation. We are gonna come back for a meal soon.
Best 10/10 customer service. I had lovely Sophie, Rachel and Emily serve me tonight. They are great employees and know what they are doing. Great food and great atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting and I will be going again?
3 years ago, I left a negative review for the Grange Hotel, and I can’t believe that I would be back again writing another and final NEGATIVE review. Never ignore a review, no matter how negative it is! Potential customers typically read independent reviews from past customers and will base their future dining decisions on this.
My brother-in-law booked a table for 15 people for New Year’s Day (public holiday) family luncheon. We waited close to an hour before they served our main - mind you; we needed to remind staff of the wait time. Garlic bread finally came, and we were told our mains were 8 minutes away - which was not the case. We had children at our table - poor kids were starving. Spoke to the venue manager, who was not helpful and didn’t apologise for the excessive meal delay. We also noticed other people who came in after we were being served their meals.
People when you ask the waitress if your meal can be modified, i.e. How spicy is the meal? A little advice, if requesting a modification to a meal please ask that same waitress that you will get what you had ordered because they will change the point of discussion to their needs not the needs of the patron.
My sister-in-law asked if the crab fettuccine was overly spicy - the waitress said that she would ask the chef to make a plate up for her, which was too not spicy.
Finally, our meals arrived, which were substandard and overpriced. The fettuccine ended up being spicy. My sister-in-law queried the order with the waitress who told my sister-in-law that she didn’t speak to the chef as she knew that the fettuccine isn’t spicy at all.
Everything just spiralled from that point on. My mother-in-law ordered grilled fish with chips but was served crumbed fish - speaking the same waitress we were told that they would replace the meal with grilled fish as per my mother-in-law’s order. We noticed that they had scraped the crumbs off the original fish. We questioned this, and we were told by the same waitress that the fish was freshly grilled.
It just seemed that each time our intelligence was being questioned.
As we were seeking compensation, the venue manager finally came over to discuss the level of poor service quality of food, the timing of our meals - he offered us 25% discount off the total of our bill. We agreed to accept his offer. Approached the counter to be told that we couldn’t pay for our meals separately.
The total amount was $359 - he agreed to take $59 off the total bill. And to top it off, we even paid the 15% surcharge. The overall experience - was horrendous! Never, ever will we book a function with the Grange Hotel.
The professionalism of the staff is inadequate.
If you choose to open your establishment on a public holiday, please have more staff on to avoid disappointment. And, of course, when the establishment charges patrons 15% surcharge to have the hotel opened to its patrons, you would expect service levels to be of a better standard.
Food - a small plate of fettuccine (a handful of pasta with three prawns and no crab meat) overly priced.
It is very clear that the owner/owners do not seem to care about patrons’ opinions.
The customer is always right–read the reviews and make changes.
A powerful way to make your restaurant shine is to focus on customer service!
Enjoyed sitting in the cool on a hot day, the meals looked good that were coming out but I have to admit bar staff service has changed since I worked at it part time and not for the better.
Great food and service, beautiful pub in a pleasant location, only complaint would be parking as we had to walk a fair distance.
Good place for gathering. Front house is mostly for drinking and horse racing bets. The other side has a best view to watch sunset while dinning. Upstair section for function.
