Flying Fish Restaurant & Cafe reviews
66Wanted a light lunch so we picked a couple of small meals. The grilled fish was way over cooked. The chips and battered fish were greasy. The fish was small and they were served on a very large base of either salad or chips. The salad had too much dressing poured over it. The view was magnificent, but it didn't make up for the food. Won't be back
Very nice location, nice food and drinks at reasonable prices.
Staff were very helpful and food came out quickly considering the line up of people.
Definitely worth a visit
I have to watch everything I eat. I asked my waiter to ask the kitchen and said they will make something up. 20 minutes later a bowl of pumpkin soup showed up. Nice and creamy. I applaud the kitchen.
We have been to this fabulous Restaurant twice this week
Service first class lead by Michael and Elizabeth
Food was amazing
Huge difference from the past and have been here many times over the the last 15 years
Chicken burger superb
Noodle salad with either eggplant or salt and pepper squid amazing
Great service great food and great view
Seafood Platter for Two; I had with my wife tonight. I have eaten my fair share of delicious meals in my life but this seafood platter was the best meal I have ever had. The waiter Michael (Canadian accent) was the nicest man I’ve ever interacted with in a dinning location. The view of the beach superb. 5/5 Stars is an understatement. I’ve etched this experience into my memory in the place where I store my ten most precious life experiences. Truly I am overwhelmed with delight.
That was lovely at Port Elliot we had a lovely meal at Flying Fish restaurant. Lovely and clean restaurant it was great being there overlooking the sand and sea.
Fish and chip and salt and pepper serves are enormous - beware. Outdoor area is nice on a fine day with some seating on the picnic benches on the beach side. Very busy during the summer holidays of course!
The place to go for fish and chips or squid by the beach. Loved the squid dish I got. The pieces were plump and juicy. Lookingat the picture, you know it ain't a lie. The beach view was a plus. My friend had the fish and chips and he liked it too.
Very very disappointing.drove all the way from Adelaide to get starchy chips and fish certainly not fresh. DON'T BOTHER!
Drove to Horseshoe bay for a 2 hour lunch supporting local industry. Went to the flying fish cafe for some fish and chips.
Ordered there signature dish for 2. Quite expensive and very disappointed meal the batter on the fish fell off as it was undercooked. The fish was grey and sloppy. Nothing was seasoned and was inedible. Thank god for the location as horse shoe bay is beautiful. Would never eat here again. Next time go to the bakery instead or bring your own picnic.
Very disappointed.
Worst fish and chips we have ever had
Very expensive for unidentifiable fish and average chips
HorseShoe bay is beautiful
Take a picnic lunch
Instead of our normal morning walk on goolwa beach, me &my sister thought we'd take the dogs and walk from the caravan park to horseshoe bay. After our rock scramble, we arrived. Unexpectedly, we saw the window open here, umbrella up, coffee machine on & asked through the window if we could get a coffee. Girl shouted back - "we dont open till 0900am". We walked away, feeling confused and maybe a bit annoyed, then checked the time and it was 0857am!
Now i know why, as a local, i have never eaten at your overpriced, priviledged, tourist-manufactured business. Quite rude and unwelcoming.
I also run a small business - I couldn't imagine if a client rang up 0757am and i told them "no ring me back at 0800am".
I won't be taking my friend from england there either.
"Coorong cafe" on hindmarsh island is better for customer service and fish
Good Cooper's ale battered fish and homemade tartare sauce. Chips good, not handcut but crunchy. Quick service. Coffee was good, possibly a bit too hot though
Great staff, delicious food - very accommodating to our needs. Great venue for a team meeting, my only problem was the view was very distracting lol!
Hi flying fish cafe staff. I just had breaky this morning bacon and eggs scrambled on sourdough, serving was very generous and both food and coffee is outstanding. Thanks guys
The Flying Fish, the best fish and chips in SA. Battered, crumbed, beer battered, awesome. OK, the chips are cooked right. You can book or sit outside, your call. We'll worth a visit.
The service was horrible. Ordered food and practically thew it out the window at us. Also the prices are so expensive more then two $ signs. Food is delicious though!
Can't speak highly enough of this place.
Location is fantastic.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
The food is amazing (and I am very fussy).
We only chose this place because of the good reviews. They weren't wrong. The best meal I have had for a long time!
Delightful place overlooking Horseshoe Bay. Food was great and well presented. Staff friendly and helpful. A must visit place if you go to Victor Harbour
Absolute brilliant seafood. Was here on a warm summers day. Looked quite busy. Staff were excellent and friendly and the food came out very quick for the amount of people. The fish is perfect and loved the amount per box. Probably a little pricey but worth it
