Phemie and the team at Ekhidna hosted our wedding ceremony and reception. They were absolutely sensational from beginning to end. Phemie was wonderful, helping us pull together (in 6 months) all the pieces we needed for our wedding day. She was incredibly organised, and made us feel relaxed and confident everytime we visited or spoke to her. On the day, the event ran beautifully, and Phemie and Sonia kept the show running smoothly behind the scenes. The whole team made us feel so welcome, and the venue itself with the beautiful surrounding vineyards was gorgeous. We received fantastic feedback from our guests about the food and drink, the service staff, and the venue generally. Thanks again, Phemie and team!

We had an excellent all round experience. The staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. The lunch menu items we tried were delicious. The recommended wines were splendid.
I wish I lived closer - it would be a regular spot to visit.

So unbelievably disappointed. I booked 2 weeks in advance for a beautiful lunch to celebrate our first wedding anniversary (which I noted in the booking notes). Upon arriving, there was noone to greet us and had to search for someone to seat us. We were then seated near the entrance and toilets so every single person had to brush passed my husband when arriving, leaving and when attending the facilities. There were vacant tables elsewhere. It then took a bit longer than desired for someone to attend to us to take our drink and food orders but at this stage we could almost forgive the experience so far. I then realised almost every table had a tablecloth and flowers except for ours. We started to feel like we were an afterthought squeezed in and forgotten. Entree came out and was okay. We then waited an hour and a half for mains (no exaggeration here at all), I was pretty furious and definitely hangry at this point. Conversation was extremely hard during this waiting period as packed patrons had to compete with the loud DJ causing our conversations to be us pretty much screaming at each other in order to hear. After 70 minutes of waiting, someone did come out and apologise for the delay and assure us that our food was definitely coming - having to wait a further 20 minutes after this is simply unacceptable. Once our expensive mains arrived (beef), they were small portions and my husband's was full of fat and gristle so much of it was inedible. We are not fancy hard to please people, but this was completely unacceptable for the standard this winery purports to uphold. It was 4pm when our mains arroved. Dessert looked great but was was average. It was too rich, unbalanced, and needed something not made out of pure cocoa on the plate to make it enjoyable - that relief did not come. After picking at dessert we were honestly relieved to leave. Was a REALLY disappointing way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Will never return. In the spirit of honesty we were comped an $8 drink as a form of an apology at the 70 minute mark. We appreciate the gesture but it doesn't in any way make up for this terrible experience. Not worth your time or money. Go literally anywhere else in McLaren Vale.

We visited Ekhidna for lunch. The food and paired wines were amazing! The staff was wonderful, both helpful and friendly. Olivia in particular took very good care of us and was very friendly.

Matt was incredible, generous and warm, an incredible host. Some of the most generous tasting pours in McLaren Vale! My only advice - don’t drive! The wine is amazing - you won’t be able to stop at one glass, particularly the sparkling Shiraz!?

Amazing wine and an even better experience! I came in for a wine tasting and Matt at Ekhidna winery went above and beyond to make it a very special memory. Couldn’t help but leave with a couple bottles! Definitely first on the list when back in Adelaide, can’t recommend highly enough

We visited over the Christmas period and dropped in unannounced, they were so busy but still accommodating and friendly! We got very well looked after and so did the kids, they got a complimentary kids wine tasting. The wines are great, food is delicious (make sure you get the roast potatoes!). We'll be back again

Ekhidna is one of the best wineries in Mclaren Vale. Matt and the staff are sensational. They are always so welcoming, always make us feel like family. Matt’s wines are just amazing, my favourite by far! Highly recommend this beautiful winery with amazing staff and seriously awesome wine.

There is lack of flexibility in your choice of meals.the 2 course set price.you cannot choose two entrees instead of an entree and main course and the waitress was rude delivering the no answer. One of our group is highly allergic to egg and asked another waitress to check if something contained egg. When asking the same waitress 20 mins later for answer she said she wrote a note on the order, so she assumed all would be well. She was again asked to check with the chef and not assume it was well. We got very bad service over the 4 hours and had to get up a few times to actually get service. The main meals were all good. I unfortunately chose my worst dessert every.love brulees but their pumpkin one is not good nor the maccadamia icecream. It was a cold day and even though the blinds were down not enough of the gas heaters were in use. Very expensive for what it is

Wine and service was lovely. But sorry cured kingfish like rubber, salt and pepper squid had alot of cinnamon in it. Duck buns bland Thai baramundi was awful and couldn't eat it. Chicken was flavourless potatoes nice. Very disappointed with this spring menu. Used to love the food at ekhidna not anymore!

Wowser, that was the most sophisticated plant-based 'Let Us Feed You' we have ever tasted! This was created by a chef who is incredibly innovative, with very clever and delicious flavour combinations. If you don't believe that plant-based can be exciting, then you really need to come here for lunch!

The perfect amount of food, with very friendly service. An amazing dining experience - highly recommended, especially for vegetarians and vegans. Well done Ekhidna team, we will definitely be back!

4 of us went yesterday. One did tasting. What we love about the place is The offer of a free coffee for the driver. And other drinks for non wine drinkers. Beers and Cider. Matt obviously loves his job and is always friendly and welcoming.

The feed me menu is not worth $85. Quality and quantity.
The scenery/location is lovely, great on a sunny day!

Loved our lunch here. Friendly and attentive staff. Some quite young but well trained and just so lovely. So nice to see a business that values its staff of all generations. Food was delish and wine matching perfect. Could not fault. Would def recommend and visit again. Loved meeting the wine maker who has a genuine passion for service and wine!

Ekhidna one of McLaren Vale's hidden gems.
Wine, Food and Beer all top shelf.
Stand out is the people _ service.
Live music on some Fridays.

This is one of my favourite places to visit in McLaren Vale.

Our first visit was for wine tasting. The staff are well informed and make you feel welcome. They are more than happy to answer any questions and do not make you feel rushed. We staying much longer than expected tasting and chatting to Matt. The wines are really nice and we left with a few bottles.

Our next visit was for lunch. Every dish was well presented and tasted wonderful. Again the staff were really nice and we didn't feel rushed and had a lovely afternoon.

Will definitely be going back.
