Dr Ben LaHood was absolutely amazing. Right from the beginning starting with my consultation through to post op care Dr LaHood has made me feel so comfortable and confident in all the processes. He is a pleasure to deal with and has a very personable manner. He answered all of my questions which made me feel very at ease going into laser eye surgery. Dr Ben went through my options thoroughly, and recommended the most effective, and safest, option. I never felt pressured into an option, nor did I feel like I had to get anything done. He even drew his own explanatory pictures, which is helpful for those who learn visually. Once I made the decision that was right for me, his medical receptionists booked me in efficiently. They really are his first point of contact for each visit and their dispositions sets a jovial yet professional tone, which was very calming and reassuring when I was feeling apprehensive because I’d watched too many YouTube videos and psyched myself out.

Due to the severity of my short-sightedness, I ended up choosing PRK. The procedure was very quick, and his medical staff worked like a well-oiled machine. Once again, Dr Ben talked me through each step and filled me with confidence. He made a procedure that sounded high-risk (because he was literally lasering my eye away) very reassuring. He is incredibly knowledgeable, innovative in his field, and his relationships that he builds with his patients is professional and caring. He has a great sense of humour too.

During my recovery and check-ups, he was always contactable, conservative and thorough - great attributes regarding your sight. He was always willing to answer my silly questions or made up scenarios.

I recently opted for the Smile procedure to correct my vision, which was -7 in each eye. I have had a severe terror of anything to do with eyes since childhood, so to even get in the door for the initial appointment was a huge achievement for me!

I needn’t have worried as all of the staff were so friendly and welcoming and put me at ease. I feel very fortunate to have been seen by Dr Lahood as he never once made me feel silly for being so worried and took the time to listen to my concerns and allay my fears.

On the day of the procedure I was terrified but again, I needn’t have been! They do give you a little ‘somethin’ somethin’ to help you relax if you need it, by the way. I experienced the same wonderful care and the procedure was a piece of cake. If I’d known how easy and painless it was, I would have done it years ago! My vision is excellent, something I never thought I’d enjoy in my lifetime, as I’ve worn glasses since 8 years old.

Had a fantastic experience using Dr Ben LaHood as my specialist regarding laser eye surgery. Hes's easy to talk with, and he went through all options available to me with honesty and integrity and I am very impressed with results. Certainly recommend to anyone considering improving their daily sight, as mine was worst than most. He has also offered free consultation and potential adjustment if required in the future.

When I scratched my eye gardening I did not expect that the injury would not heal and would tend to get worse over the next months.
Eventually it was recommended that I seek corneal laser surgery, and this led me to consult Dr Ben LaHood.
There was not a long wait for an assessment appointment, and then there was not a long wait for the laser surgery. The laser surgery itself was painless, though it was sore for less than 48 hours afterwards. (But not as sore as the original injury).
Unfortunately the first surgery did not fully fix the injury so Dr LaHood promptly organized a second laser surgery. This was successful and as a bonus my distance vision in that eye is a little better.
Throughout Dr LaHood was compassionate and kind, as well as thorough in his attention to details. I appreciated his follow up and his reassurance when I was worried.

He informed me in detail of what the procedure was going to be, the for and against to which I was grateful.

I was referred to Dr Ben by my optometrist as I had a raised lump on my right eyeball, this was particularly hard to diagnose due to having eyeball tattoos so the whites of my eyes are jet black.
After pressure-testing and eyesight testing, which both came back perfect, we decided that a surgical biopsy was the best way to diagnose
what the lump was.
A date was set for surgery, and after trying both steroid and antibiotic eyedrops to no avail, we went into theater.

Throughout this entire process, Dr Ben was constantly in touch with me, txting me updates and never missed a single appointment, he is an absolute professional, and I had the utmost confidence that he was the most qualified and best person for this surgery from the start.
The surgery went ahead without a single hitch or delay, the "cyst" was removed from my eyeball and 3 stitches later, I was on my way home!

Dr Ben is one of those rare medical professionals you meet that have a clear and absolute passion for their field, he was pleasant, polite, has a very good sense of humor and clearly explained all options every step of the consultation process.

10/10 would get a flap cut in my eyeball again, also his team are very responsive and amazing with appointments, invoicing and working with southern cross insurance.

And his optometrist is probably the coolest in the field, super friendly, genuine and pro at what she does!

I got in touch with Dr Ben through a referral from my GP for an ongoing issue with redness in both my eyes. Dr Ben was quick on his feet and knowledgeable and explained the possible issues to me in a friendly and reassuring manner. Even after my treatment had wrapped up and I had moved back home to Fiji, Dr Ben kept in touch to make sure everything was okay.
