Discovery Parks - Lake Bonney reviews
71Great place with lots to do for the kids. Bathrooms could be cleaned 2/3 times a day to stay on top when the park is fully booked out like it was.
We camped out in our tent for the night. The ground on the powered sites was great to set the tent up, not too hard but not to soft where the tent pegs wouldn't stay in, even in a really windy night. The shower/toilet blocks were immaculate. I'm not sure how many times a day they were cleaned but I saw the cleaning lady in there quite a few times. We've stayed at a few Discovery Parks but this one is definitely one of the best. Thank you for providing a great service.
Brilliant place for relaxing. A little overcrowded at times and too much dirt in the amenities, but thats what you get. Staff are exemplary while trying to keep on top of things.
Caravan park very tightly packed in. The ammeneties are ok need paint. Most caravan sites are loose dry dirt which turned bad in the rain. No drains for caravan water waste.
Paid extra for a lake side site only to have campers in front of us and Reed beds blocking access and view. Being close to good water it would be easy to plant grass every where to keep the dust and mud away.
Just get a site number and check it against the park map to make sure it's what you want when you book.
Would have preferred a different spot where our view wasn't permanent on sites but the kids had a fantastic time with lots for them to do, the amenities were cleaned regularly through out the day and Sassy Brews was a hit with everyone. We are already planning our next visit.
OMG this is the best holiday park you can go to. You can sleep right on the lake. There are so many activities. Kayaking, water park, lake trampoline, etc. We stayed there for 4 nights and could easily stayed longer!
We booked a one night stay whilst driving to this place in the morning through Wotif for approx $450. We arrived in the afternoon. I went to the check-in section and told the lady I had booked one cabin for the night. She checked her records and found the booking. She suggested I pay them direct, $385, rather than go through Expedia (I had booked through Wotif!), more convenient and all over and done with. I assumed they would liaise with Wotif. Three days later I checked my bank account and saw that BOTH amounts had been deducted!
I rang back saying this should not have happened! The person said, rather defensively, and without an apology, there were 2,000 bookings that day and mistakes were bound to happen! They should get staff who know what they are doing and be more apologetic when they receive money TWICE for the same booking. I have no doubt their mistake would NOT have been detected if I didnt check my bank account!
I hired a canoe for an hour and paid the fee to the person manning the activities booth. She gave me a key to unlock the lock securing the canoe to a chain. Upon arriving at the lake, the key did not work. I went back and told the same person about it. She came with me to the lake and confirmed the key did not work. She left the lake and took the key with her. I assumed she was coming back soon with another key. We waited some 20 mins and she hadnt showed up! 35 mins of our paid hour had gone. A family came on shore from the lake so we took their canoe. When I went back to the booth to return our vests, the same person was sitting down behind the counter all relaxed and simply asked, "How did you go? " I was totally shocked. How did we go? We paid money for a canoe for which we could not gain access to, which was known to the staff, and were left at the beach to fend for ourselves! Unbelieveable!
People supporting such regional businesses after covid deserve better service and respect.
The cabin was a Bit expensive for one night. No aircon in main bedroom, toiket was used and uncleaned, crockery all chipped, bedroom cupboards hadnts been dusted in a very long time. Expected much more fir $260.
Beautiful well equipped cabin and facilities. Quiet and refreshing w e clone pool. Thankful for the aircon too as it was 43 all week
The family and I loved it! It has absolutely everything you could need for a self contained family getaway at a great price.
The only reason I don't give it a 5 is it needs a little more cleaning, I had to empty the aircon filter and there was a few other things requiring attention to detail.
Great place, we will be back again soon.
Beautiful place to stay, super clean amenities the only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the highway noise of trucks
Absolutely wonderful park to stay at. The sunset over the lake is breathtaking.
Our kids had an absolute blast, and my husband and I truly relaxed.
Kayaking on the lake is a must! And i dont care how old you are, the waterslides are bucket loads of fun.
Very beautiful place for short holiday. Kids can have lota of fun. If you go in group will enjoy more.
Other than wierd bugs in the pool, a confusion of site numbers (and small sites) a nice spot on the lake with clean amenities.
Already booked for next year. So much more than the big 4 at renmark. I see this becoming a Christmas regular for us.
Fantastic spot to camp with the kids. 2 pools, water park and jumping pillow. Clean amenities. And camp kitchens were fantastic, cloths and detergent if you forgot yours and even a fridge, microwave and toaster. Very clean. Had a wonderful stay.
What a great stay at Lake Bonney is in South Australia, about a two-hour drive from Mildura, Victoria (or a three-hour drive from Adelaide, or an eight-hour drive from Melbourne). The town of Barmera, which as a few restaurants, places to stay, and a grocery store, is located at the southern end of the lake. We had a terrific stay LAKE BONNEY HOLIDAY & CARAVAN PARK! We stayed at the Discovery Holiday Park, in a Deluxe Sunset Villa. It was super clean, very quiet, and we loved having a kitchen. Another added bonus was that there were some great dead trees about a five minute walk from our very nice cabin. Super location for night sky photography. Be sure to take flat 5 minute walk straight into town and explore the history of this wonderful Australian place.
A lovely place to go as a family lots to do great facilities awesome water park 2 lovely pools and a huge lake.great all year round for either boating or 4wding
We go back every australia day there is always upgrades and great family friendly fun plus your right on the lake nothing like a little piece of paradise and the staff make the place
Great for family with young kids with the water park and pool, but does get pretty crowded on long weekends.
