British Raj reviews
66Was very surprised with the food here. Was amazing and great taste and the size of the meals are much bigger then other India Restaurants. Make sure you book first if there is a show near by might be hard to get a table at short notice.
I've long been a devotee of Indian food. Tried British Raj for the first time this weekend, and so glad I gave it a shot. The flavour hits you from the first mouthful. It's obviously a well-run establishment with exceptional chefs. Can't wait to eat from here again
The food is always incredible, the staff are nice and I eat here often, however, going to collect pickup takeaway it is consistently a VERY long wait/late. You can be given an estimated time (about 40mins until food will be ready), track it online, wait for it to be confirmed ready, then leave your house…. And it is still not actually ready when you get there. Incredibly frustrating and should be considered when ordering.
Amazing quality food. Very popular with local pick up.
Went there with my wife and had the best Appolo Fish. Awesome flavour. Will come back soon.
Best Indian meal we ever had. Very tasty food. Very busy and takes little extra time but the flavours and food is very fresh. Thanks for the chef especially
I've been ordering take away at the British Raj for years and have also dined in. The standard of food and service is amazing and consistent. It's the best Indian food I've tried in Adelaide

We have ordered a chilli chicken and we asked Lady at counter for any veg rice dish, she suggested we can make a vegetable biriyani on request and we have ordered it.
After a longgg wait for 1 hr just for take away, so called Vegetable biryani ("Chef special").
Ended the meal with surprises hidden.
Half of the take away container full of big sizes of boiled potatoes for a second I felt did we ordered vegetable biriyani or just potato biryani.
Here the hidden surprise found staple pin ️. $22 just for this Biryani is too pricey and not quality food
Chilli chicken smells like a stinky fish flavour.
And final taste is just ok.
Big No
Adelaide tour ended with bad food experience.
My favourite place for Indian cuisine. Their curry sauces are so creamy and full of flavour; always pleasantly surprised with whatever new thing I try here. Service here is wonderful and they are very attentive. Love coming back here, and will continue to do so for years to come.
Very authentic and yummy food with lovely ambiance. Been here first time but the staff are very helpful and gave good suggestions with the choice of meals. Many vegan options available. Highly recommended.
I ordered chicken biryani and butter chicken curry. I had to wait for few minutes before the food came but the taste of the biryani was amazing and the curry was excellent. Should really appreciate the chef.
Biriyani was not fresh, just old one heated up & no raitha. Quality of food dropped significntly from last visit
Always excellent. The meal for one easily serves two people and is very economical. The butter chicken is the best and very flavoursome. I highly recommend either for takeaway or dining in. The owners are lovely.
Absolutely horrible service.
After waiting an hour for my takeaway order and being told constantly that 'it's on its way' and 'it will be ready very soon', they finally realised they had lost the order. Clearly they had not checked any of the other times I asked. I couldn't even get an answer on how long it would be after that.
We ended up leaving and had kfc.
Never ordering again and would strongly recommend others to stay away!
The ambiance is nice, owner seems to be a great fan of cricket. Great collectibles to see.
Regarding food, it was ok as it was cold from the middle, not the worth the money spent. Also, the service was really bad.
We booked our table 1 hour before the kitchen closes but still all our courses were sent together saying kitchen is closing.
We were left without attention and felt unwanted guests at the end.
Wont go back.
The best and only restaurant in adelaide that serves fresh indian food rather than cooking it once or twice a week and use microwave for serving in 10 mins. They take their time because its MADE FRESH. If you can't wait just go to any fast food restaurant. They do not advertise as or claim it as a fast food restaurant. The quality of food is totally worth wait. Don't go on friday night or saturday night in the busy time and become keyboard warriors!
Food and service is Amazing. Long wait times after ordering food is the only thing that spoils the whole experience. Everything else is great!
One of the best Indian Restaurants in Adelaide.
Food is great and tasty. Booking in advance is recommended.
Worse experience ever - visited two weeks ago.
Service was unprofessional - on a table of 8 we had 7 plates. Asked for another one. Waited 30 minutes for our food (fair enough) but got it in instalment. 3 curries and 5 minutes later naan bread and a few minutes later reminder of our curries. We had to ask for cutlery - the lady came with fork and knife - to which very humbly I asked - can I have spoon please? She said you asked for cutlery and instead should have asked for spoons - arrogance and rudeness.
To make it absolutely worse - I provided the main lady with some feedback that we had horrible experience starting from waiting period for food to hospitality and food quality. Shocking response was given - sir as you can see we were really busy and you did not book a table. Are you serious - what difference would that have made and we waited for an hour to have a table. So if I had booked a table they would have cooked food in advance and would have given us good hospitality? I responded that it is not good enough - perhaps should have more staff to handle busy period like this and this would give your business a bad name. To this she stated that we are here for last 12 years. So having a business for 12 years and you still don’t know how to take feedback - shocking facts hey!
Absolute waste of time and money - never ever going there again. Keep your business (12 years) running like this.
Their Briyani especially chicken briyani is very good. The Indian cricket team used to have their meals there or being catered from them.
I ordered take away on friday evening after eating we have upset tummies. It was not the spice as we ordered mild food.
