Border Village Roadhouse

Convenient location, but rooms are not what was expected. The room rate is well overpriced for what is provided, the bed was uncomfortable, and the linen was not clean (stains on them).

Did this trip (again) in January 2023. We had prior booking for Eucla, we arrived 1: 45pm due to timezone, it was hot, we were tired. Lady said we can't book before 2.00, so we sat in the car. At 2.00 we went in and was told 2.30 because they were 'short staffed'.

While we were waiting, staff were seen cleaning the coffee machine with people queued up at reception. I blew my top. That's when the manager happened to find a moment to clear the backlog. Poor front desk service and complete lack of empathy for tired travellers.

We got our key, asked for the pool, the whole reason we booked, told water restrictions, no pool. (Border Village, as we found out, apparently source their water the same way, had a full pool). Got in room, no bowls, no spoons. Wooden sticks and cups was all they had. Wanting to leave early to make Esperance next day, we wanted kids to be able to eat breakfast but would have to wait for kitchen.

So we went back to Border Village to get something we could use, and even with no accommodation booked, they offered us disposable bowls and spoons, told us the pool was full of fresh clean water. We cancelled return booking for Eucla (it was something like $200+ a night) and re-booked at Border Village. BV even offered us some internet so we could cancel Eucla.

On return a week or so later, BV proved awesome. Clean room, no drafts under the doors and windows requiring towels to stop them rattling like Eucla, cooking facilities, a pool, internet and obvious great service.

The moral of this story, don't stay at Eucla, stay at Border VIllage.

Perfect spot before heading to east Nullarbor Roadhouse, lovely staff, great coffee, free for truck drivers, shower facilities available. Welcome to SA sign just before entering to village.

Bitterly cold night only one thin blanket, very noisy air con. Extremely tired and dated premises, won't stay there ever again.

Modern and very clean room. Very comfortable and clean bed. Would definitely stay again along the Nullarbor trip. Thanks

Had a great steak sandwich, and our room was clean and tidy. We stayed with our dog which normally means a not so nice room, but this one was just fine. The service is a little frosty, but I guess they are a bit busy and over tourists.

Very disappointing paid for a so called executive room it was a 3.5 x 2.5 no chair or table not the cleanest of places. Spiders in room corners. Managers need to either check or supervise cleaners and perhaps visit and check rooms every so often. Fridge low down under shelf. Paid $160 for a box room with a TV with 3 channels. I was warned but ignored it at my own cost. Don’t stop here keep going to next place. Live and learn. $13.50 for 2 coffees. Came through here 4 years ago and it’s gone down hill.

SA or WA time very funny
The only place to stay. Swimming pool, bar good solid meals lots to watch and see. So it's more expensive than other places.do you actually understand where you are.
The staff were excellent helpfull and funny. I think they do a superb job, before you get back in the saddle. Stop there it's great

Room number 8,4 cups in the room were all dirty with tea stains, shower lasted 3 minutes and went cold. Window curtain next to the beds is see through when the light is on. I spoke with the staff about getting scourers for the cups they gave me to new cups, I asked about the hot water and was told it's a small old water heater and is shared between 3 rooms so it's first in and will take about 20 minutes to reheat. They said there is nothing they can do about the curtain. I asked if they would mind if I hang the blanket from one of the small beds up, she said it's OK if that's what I want to do. Blankets up. The worst part about this was the poor responce from the management.

Rooms are clean and everything you need for a short stop over.

Customer service is good. I was most impressed with the food at the restaurant, the Barramundi was delicious

$2 for 10 minute shower that was very welcome after a long hot drive. We had a powered van site.

Open 24 hours which is handy. Right on the border. A few of the Motel rooms are currently being renovated but room was tidy and had basics for an overnight stay. Wifi only valid for one device.

Little rooms at the back of the fuel station but is well renovated and modern. Has everything we needed for a comfortable stay overnight as we cross the border. If you can’t make it to Eucla or is booked out, definitely give this place a go. Dinner and good is also great pricing and quality too.

Easy, safe and pleasant stay when there aren’t too many options. Heating and cooling provided (and worked well).

We booked a motel room, and the complimentary tea, coffee & Bikkie’s helped us the next morning as we prepared to cross the border into WA. Also appreciated the ensuite after staying at caravan parks prior (and having to walk in the cold to go to the toilet).

Only thing is Carpets are in urgent need of replacement. There was a large, and what appeared wet stain on the carpet and bed (plus other random stains about) but we couldn’t see any water dripping anywhere? Just kept our slides/thongs on the whole time Our friends booked a powered campsite and we had dinner in their van which was lovely, before sleeping!

Overall we had a great sleep - beds were clearly comfortable too

Tiny dark room could hear guests in neighbouring room fighting. No Wifi. Gross carpet. Tiny bathroom. Highly recommend the Eucla motel! Similar price but huge updated clean room and warm friendly atmosphere and restaurant. Stayed there instead of rebooking at Border Village on our return trip. Totally different experience.

Over night stay okay. Went to buy petrol $2-76 one dollar over other service stations don't buy there.

Tried to order an iced latte and was berated by the man behind the counter who couldn't possibly accommodate my request. Went outside and when I reentered the building the man was still carrying on to other staff about how ridiculous a request I had. Do not stop here if you can avoid it.

Great place to stop. Very spacious and clean cabins. Staff were accommodating. The only thing to know is there was no phone service out there (might be if you are on the Telstra full network but we were not) and the Wi-Fi they offer customers was awkward to use at best. We'd stay there again no worries.

Had breaky this morning Wednesday 13th April. Bacon and eggs and hubby had savoury mince. Huge meals and they were delicious. The young lad who served us was fantastic! Had a chat and was super friendly and couldn’t have helped us more. Thank you!

Staff are beautiful.very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.unlike the manager.apparently been their 3 years.he was rude abrupt and snappy.they where all busy we get that but he certainly didn't set a good example for the workers.or customers
