Please don’t support this crooked bike store!

I called up on Friday 11/8 to check the price to get the nipples of one wheel (24 spoke) changed out. Received a quote for approx. $30 +Cost of nipples estimated around $2 per nipple.

Dropped off the wheel on Saturday, stripped of cassette, tyres and wheel tape (all that was required was changing nipples out) and made a point of double checking the quote of approx. $30+ parts. I also asked for a call back regarding a price to change out the bearings.

I received no communication all week, so I called up Friday and firstly was told they weren’t sure where my wheel was, after it was found I was told it was being brought back to the Norwood store from the city and I would get a call when it was returned. I asked for extra nipples to be added for spares and that my wife would pick them all up the next day.

Come 330pm Saturday I had received no contact yet again so I called up, once again was told wasn’t sure where my wheel, after they found it I was informed that they had performed a ‘wheel rebuild’ and I would be charged $168. $120 for labour and $48 for parts.

Obviously shocked at the difference, I questioned; had bearings been changed, spokes been changed, something other than what I asked for and was quoted for? No, and there is nothing we can do for you was the answer.

Of course my wife picked it up and received no extra nipples and upon inspection I have found that the wheel isn’t even true.

All I can do is make an impassioned plea that if you take your business to bicycle express please keep one hand on your wallet because you can be sure they’ll be trying to rob you!

Steve and the rest of the staff were very helpful in our bike purchase. Steve was thinking of all the options we can get for the budget we had and making sure we are happy with the buy. Steve was also happy to answer any questions we had and triple checking to make sure the bike was good to go before we left. He even left a number and was happy to pick up the bike if theres anything wrong with the purchase. It was a very enjoyable process, thanks! Would definitely recommend!

Brilliant customer service! Called in unannounced to have Campagnolo break pads replaced. Despite being flat out the pads were replaced in 45 minutes. Big thanks!

Knowledgeable staff with excellent mechanical skills from Sam and Michael Winter.

Shop can get busy due to good reputation but location means you can do some shopping around then come back and try your luck.

Excellent store and team. Happy got the bike I wanted and layby is available, other bike stores dont have layby options. Great service and friendly team. Highly recommend store if you love bikes.

My family and I were shopping for 6 new bikes. We were new to cycling and were looking for a good bike that would encourage us to continue to want to cycle. We went to several stores, but the service that we got from Lewis was outstanding. In very difficult times (for many stores struggling to get stock) he offered sound advice for us and kept us in the loop all the way. We are loving our new bikes and certainly have caught the bug, thanks Lewis for the excellent service.

Poor customer service. I have been there multiple times and they don’t seem to want help new customers. Probably have enough business already?

Needed a shifter cable replaced for my road bike and got great service from Norwood store. Lewis suggested replacing cassette and chain as well after testing the bike, but didn't pressure me to do it (a few phones calls were exchanged throughout the day to allow me to decide). I decided to go ahead with the recommendations and my bike is now running the smoothest it's ever run. Cost was very reasonable too. So very satisfied with both price and service and I would highly recommend them.

Friendly and efficient service from Howard to help pick a saddle for my bike. Did not try to upsell a saddle for my husband's bike, advising us that we did not need to change that one. Honesty was greatly appreciated. Will be taking our bikes there for service.

Very friendly staff who know their stuff about bicycles. Lewis was so helpful with servicing my bike and replacing the chain! Can’t recommend these guys highly enough.

Best service Ive found in Adelaide so far! Stephen has helped me so many times, go to him for an expert and honest advice! Love this store!
