Ask for a "behind the scenes" tour of the (used daily!) old wood-oven and dough mixers - they are a fascinating insight into traditional baking in Australia. Try the 'honey biscuits' and a hot pastie to really experience the Barossa food tradition.

Asked on Tuesday when their vegan sausage rolls would be available, was told Thursday, now they're saying Friday (tomorrow) I live in Adelaide. Organisation needs to be addressed because this has left me quite hangry.

Fantastic bakery, always worth stopping at when in Tanunda. They have a great range and great takeaway items. Always a pleasure to go to and enjoy a pie or two!

Awesome bakery service is excellent people are very quick and polite and you receive exactly what you ask for with a smile and The food taste fantastic

Vegans beware, mushroom pies traditionally have meat, as does this bakery's lip smacking, mouth watering, yummy mushroom pies

Shocking service!
Asked for pie selection, mushroom pie was one on offer, went away with that only to find out it was steak & mushroom! Awful as a vegetarian to find a chunk of steak in my mouth. Went back to complain and the woman serving clearly did not care! Told me I should have known it was steak & mushroom and not just mushroom!
Had a poor attitude at giving me my money back! Never again!

I usually grab a pasty cos i know what i am gonna get (always yummy), tried some pies and i must say absolutely delicious got a potato and a smokey must be that wood oven.well done apex team.

Yeah i must say i agree with the last reviewer, The pasties are simply the best, I also love the sausage rolls and pizza pies. Great selection and friendly staff, I definitely be returning.deserves a 6 star review

The pasties at the Apex Bakery are quite simply the best I've ever had, and teir choc doughnuts are awesome.
Their Brioche is pretty spectacular too, and after learning i can get them every week in the Central Markets in Adelaide I will be grabbing some at every opportunity

If you ever find yourself in Tanunda, drop pie I mean by and ask for a tour and they will always oblige its old school wood oven baking at its finest
