Anderson Hill Cellar Door Restaurant reviews
64 We had the best time at Anderson Hill Cellar door today, the wine tasting contained the best wines we had Today, I especially enjoyed the sparkling Chardonnay.
The Cheese platter and Pizza's were really good too.
The service/staff were amazing, enthusiastic and super welcoming, and they took all the time for the wine tasting.
This just the vibe we were after today!
Thanks for the awesome time! We'll be back:)
Lovely view and scenery and charming interior. However some customer service training desperately required as two out of three staff - a man with a beard and a young blonde headed boy were devoid of personality and made us feel very unwelcome. In saying that all that there was a lovely lady who was very warm and welcoming. We talked of our experience with family who had been there and few years ago and they admitted they’d had a similar scenario. Shame as It has so much potential for a lovely experience. We won’t ever return.
Last Saturday I celebrated my 70th birthday at this favourite winery of ours. I wanted a casual birthday lunch for 18. I have only praise for the the location, venue, ambiance, staff, wine and delicious food. We wre so wellooked after. Service was excellent, warm fires inside and out. There was plenty of room for the youngsters to play. We had shared entrees followed by wood fired pizzas. Given we were a larger group, could not ask for better service by Will. Absolutely loved the honey soy vhicken wings, dips and dukkah and of course our pizzas. There were many options on the menu to cater for young and old! Staff were so flexible and we enjoyed an amazing bithday cake made and decorated by my daughter. Thank you all once again for a wonderful day. We will be back!
Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Went for a wine tasting and nibblies, the atmosphere was wonderful and warming, and the staff were super friendly - They make great coffee and pizza too! Will definitely be coming back:)
Had to celebrate some delayed family events due to COVID and this was chosen to be the venue. Ordering and paying was easy. First time using the QR code system. Staff professional and friendly. Food delicious. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Had a great lunch with friends. Beautiful spot. Fantastic service from Will - very friendly and knowledgeable
The only qualm is the size of the pizzas. They were significantly smaller than what we were expecting for the price. If this is a standard thing, it needs to be addressed. 12" should be the standard for ~$25
Great place to spend an afternoon and the staff were great can't wait to go back again. Table 35
The fungi wood fired pizza was hands down the pick of the food ordered today, closely followed by the gin cured salmon and oh the wine was pretty good as well. Plenty of tables inside and outside. Parking, views of vines and friendly happy staff. Love the dogs walking about the customers, so well behaved.
Anderson Hill winery is a beautiful location nestled in the Adelaide Hills with friendly staff and amazing food. We went on a cold Saturday that was slightly overcast and were quite pleasantly surprised that the staff had gone out of their way to book us both a table inside and outside if we were cold.
I can see a lot of people complaining of poor customer service, but our group of 6 experienced nothing except fantastic staff who were very talkative, friendly and helpful.
The wine was amazing and their 2018 award winning Shiraz was beautiful and went nicely with our cheese platter and wood fire cooked pizzas. All pizzas tasted amazing, but in particular the mushroom pizza and chicken/bacon pizzas were a standout and I would highly recommend.
The only thing I will say is be prepared to smell like smoke for the rest of the day if sitting outside near the wood fires.
I would highly recommend visiting this place and enjoying the great food and wine, scenic location and friendly customer service.
Best 4 person platter ever!
Delicious pizzas. The tandoori chicken one is fantastic!
And, the panoramic view is the icing on an already delicious cake. Go there! 6/5.
Today 7 of us had lunch there we ordered 7 meals waited an hour for the 6 pizzas they were tasteless a person at our table asked for a certain sauce to add flavour to his pizza the lady said she would get it, I thought she forgot so I politely asked her again about his sauce and she jumped down my throat and was in my face saying “I’ve got to get a birthday cake out for the other table, we are short staffed and the chef didn’t rock up for work? Like I’ve Never had such bad service in a restaurant before, I asked a young waiter whom was Very polite and very apologetic for his colleagues behaviour if I could speak to the manager and no one bothered to come see us. The Pizzas were half eaten we had very hungry men at our table because they were riding there bikes at Fox Creek Bike Park across the road just couldn’t believe the scenario. If the chef didn’t rock up for work maybe don’t sell food if you cannot deliver what’s on the menu
Delicious wine and lovely tasting - had a lovely young gent serving us who was very knowledgeable about the wine despite being quite new to the job (sorry we didn't quite catch his name!)
Service was great 5/5, wine was also great 5/5. Only let down was the pizza's weren't the best for the price. Sourdough crust & wood oven would be much more fitting for such a nice winery.
Would still go back, keep up the good work.
We didn't feel welcome at all. It all started with one particular team member who obviously had a bad day. When we pointed that out (as described below), the lady who seemed to be the manager, went around the tables, more than obviously telling to other guests what happened, even pointing at us! We were quite baffled by this never-seen-before experience.

It was a rainy Friday, we dropped by with kids after a day in Gorge Park. Initially we sat outside and asked for wine tasting. The team at the counter OK-ed it but one waitress rudely responded "Oh, I'm not doing wine tasting outside! "
We ordered a bottle of sauvignon blanc instead (which, by the way, was amazing!) and a cheese platter (crackers were soggy and cherries wrinkled). While waiting for the wine one of many resident dogs bit my daughter's leg (she's 8), luckily she was wearing long pants and high shoes.

When it started raining we moved inside. We were advised not to sit in the dining area because we were not eating. So we sat on armchairs in the corner by the old furnace. When dogs started jumping on our kids trying to push them off chairs, the kids sat on the bar stools by the big barrel at the entry instead.
The young waitress rushed towards the kids and scolded them for sitting there. We explained to her why they moved away from the table to which she responded that these are dogs' chairs that we were sitting on and that this is their corner. Added that we should have read the note on the door which is clearly explaining something about dogs before coming in.

We asked where we were allowed to sit and she rudely responded that we could stay where we were. When we pointed out her unnecessary rude behaviour, even towards kids, she rushed away to back of house not to be seen again for quite a while.
Instead, another lady dropped by, explained again the silly dogs' rule, not even apologizing for a dog bite. Then she finally brought our order, 20 minutes after our arrival. While we were sitting there, trying to prevent dogs from stealing food from our platter and from drinking water from our glasses, she walked around the establishment explaining to other guests about `the incident`, not even trying to hide that she was talking about us by pointing at us followed by the whole table looking in our direction. When we noticed that we couldn't believe it! She even explained the whole matter to the group of guests who just walked in while we were already leaving.

Definitely not the place we would recommend to our colleagues and friends. Despite the amazing view.
They are no longer dog friendly, this made it difficult having traveled all that way for lunch, we were out of options of where else to go.
They did allow us to come in, which was good, but we were made to feel pretty uncomfortable, so we left quickly without doing the wine tasting in the end.
Pity, coz the location is so nice.
Would’ve loved to have stayed longer.
Beautiful day at Anderson Hill. It doesn't get much better than the view over the valley overlooking the vineyards. The food was super yummy, although quite small for the price ($24 for a 9 inch pizza). The wine was lovely, particularly the new wines on offer. Just a small suggestion.some additional drink choices would be great such as a Lenswood cider or a small spirit selection as not everyone likes wine or beer. We will be back!
A wonderful location and excellent venue and service but food was disappointing. Dips were great. Arachini Balls were'nt nice. Pizzas were cold and should have been cooked more.
Just wondering if new Chef?
We were turned away for coffee at 3pm, the waitress said we could have wine but not coffee due to a second lunch sitting about to start? The kitchen closes at 4pm so not sure how that works! She was rude, there were heaps and heaps of empty tables, won't stop by again.
Always a great place to grab the Best Pizza's with friends.
The wines are good too.
Exceptional views of the Adelaide Hills.
Highly recommended.
Anderson Hill was a must visit for my weekend away after visiting for just a wine tasting last year. I had heard great things about the food, and I was keen to go back on a day when the weather was kinder. It didn't disappoint; the wood-oven pizza tasted delicious and eating outside on the lawns with picturesque views topped it all off (not to mention the winery dogs who loved wandering around accepting pats).
