Rio Rhythmics Latin Dance Academy

I have been having a particularly wonderful time learning to dance with the Rio Rhythmic crew. From the first introduction via their Latin Dance Starter course I have been inspired to go and learn and enjoy and develop myself in this dancing caper.

I am 67 and have never danced, so initially I looked like a dancing brick. But I was and am continually encouraged and I am improving. My hips are loosening up, my shoulders are becoming flexible. The exercise is safe and challenging all at the same time.

And it is such fun. In the Starter classes everyone is expected to be a duffer and make mistakes and get it wrong on the path to getting it right. Then as I improve and repeat classes I notice I am learning stuff. And beginning to understand the music.

I have found all the instructors wonderful with various strengths, flashes of brilliance, illuminating focus and insights, dead-great dancers, respectful, seriously encouraging, and just plain great fun.

I have also had to reconnect with the great thing called the learning-curve as I navigate utterly unfamiliar ways of moving and hearing and focusing on others. It is a wonderful experience. Thank you Tarcisio and all you others.

Excellent class led by Tarcísio! He was fun and patient as we were all beginners and very encouraging! We all left in high spirits and would definitely recommend to others! Thank you so much for such a fun class!:)

As a latino who has been listening to salsa music all my life, I found the music in this place so outdated and boring. The place needs a new DJ or somehow update their play list.

Just to be clear: I'm talking about the social dance event!

Such a great dance school. It is one big community and they are so passionate about it which makes it so much more fun! Instructors from all over the world which gives it more authenticity. Would highly recommend!

Management of over billing due to lack in communication was handled poorly in 2018.

With that said, the teachers at this academy are well educated and trained in their specific subject and are in no way related or reflected in this review.

RR is fantastic, my partner Georgia and I loved it there! The instructors are all absolutely fabulous. Have had Elle, Ju, Raf and Kimberley and they are all so incredibly lovely. Can't wait to get back into it at some stage down the line!

Great affordable dance school for someone learning the basics and up. The focus on fundamentals is great and is transferable to a range of different styles, so you can dance anywhere.fun class, small enough sizes to get time with instructors if you need. Online material to review as well and just plain fun.love it.

Learning to dance Latin is the probably one of the best things I've ever done, and learning it from Rio Rhythmics, the pioneer of Latin & Brazilian dancing in Australia, the "bestest" (for the lack of another superlative) decision ever! Not only do they teach Latin dancing, they live Latin dancing and culture and I have to warn you, it is contagious. The best teachers, the best teaching technique, A great atmosphere to learn, socialise and meet new people. I have acquired a lifelong addiction to Latin music and dancing, learnt a new language, learnt to samba with a costume just like in Brazil during the annual Rio Rhythmics carnaval, met and made lifelong friends all at Rio Rhythmics!

I have attended Latin Mx classes for over three months and Ju and Rafa are amazing professional instructors. Their skills and great instructions inspire me to want to learn more They take their time and correct each person as necessary. Super respectful and super friendly. I always feel welcome.

Rio Rhythmics is the ultimate place to learn any style of Latin dance that you wish. Their focus is on teaching you the correct technique to be versatile in any style of dance. It may seem daunting, but learning multiple styles at the same time accelerates your progress and you will dance better, faster! The teachers are super friendly and approachable, keen to help fix your footwork anytime. This is the best place to learn Zouk, Samba styles, Bolero, Salsa, Bachata, Forro, Tango and Kizomba. There is also plenty of opportunity to dance at Rio with the frequent social nights to practise what you learn in class. I am very happy with my ongoing Rio experience; I never thought I’d have so many styles in my repertoire - a great asset because it means you can dance to any kind of music anywhere - more time on the floor, less time on the sidelines:)

Rio Rhythmics is a wonderful community where you can learn some great dance skills, meet new people and have a load of fun! It is professionally run and the instructors are skilled at breaking down the steps into easy to work out moves which has you dancing skillfully and with style. The people are all very friendly and you dont need to have a partner to come! Highly Recommend!

If you are looking for a dance school in Brisbane with excellent teachers and a friendly atmosphere, I would highly recommend Rio Rhythmics at West End.

Always thoroughly enjoy my lessons.sometimes I come away feeling challenged other times feeling accomplished.

While most of the staff are brilliant and friendly, there are couple of dance teachers who don't know how to teach and just like to criticise students.
But this is not the main issue. The main issue is the management and how they deal with the students. They kept charging me for about two months without me having any enrolment and when I asked why they said I had to specifically mention that I want to stop paying. Any reasonable human being would think you need to pay only if you are using a service.

A geeat and safe place to learn and practice latin dance. Whether attending with somebody or solo, the people at Rio will make you feel welcomed. They offer an eencouraging and supportive environment to learn.

Do yourself a favour and get dancing.

The best latin dance academy in Australia. Love the dance community Rio has created, teachers are fun and full of energy!
