Racquet Film Processing Studio reviews
58I felt so welcomed here in this beautiful store, a newby, entering with trepidation, expecting to be mocked. Such a wonderful experience, and I've shared it with so many friends. Refreshing. Thank you.
I came across these guys not long after they expanded into film processing when looking for a developing lab closer to my workplace in Brisbane. As others have already commented here, this is not a 1hr lab turnaround time but they do an amazing job on the processing of your film scans. It doesn't matter whether you are an experienced professional or an outright noob at film photography in the digital age, you are treated the same with professionalism and helpful friendly service. A credit to the team that has undergone significant change since they have opened up to the greater public.
What a fabulous small business - from the moment i first walked into the store the service was friendly and efficient. Racquet's product is first class and they care about their customers. A great experience!
Fantastic small business! Unbelievable customer service, always happy to answer questions and help where ever they can. Great prices for individually colour corrected photos. Only took about 3 working days before I got mine back. Would recommend and I will definitely use them again.
My overall experience has been great, everyone at the lab is friendly, helpful and attentive. Although some results were negative (pardon the pun) due to my own fault, the last roll came out amazing and it reassured me that film photography is a challenge worth pursuing. Always try new ways, new cameras (or old ones), be creative.
Thanks guys and have a merry Christmas and all the best in 2020!
Racquet Film are my favourite film lab in Australia! They put quality over quantity. I honestly haven't had a bad scan from them, they take their time to develop each roll by hand and produce your images they way the film stock was intended to look. Here's a few other reasons I rate their service.
- The staff are super helpful and happy to chat too
- They put your negatives into sleeves that clip into a binder, this saves you loads of time and means less fingers touching the negs.
- They give you a personal dropbox that lets you access every roll you've ever had developed at Racquet. (Other labs host your scans for 2 weeks and then they are gone forever so if you forget to download them to your hard drive their gone and you gotta start again)
- They offer three scan resolution options which is super handy depending on your job.
Overall, I'm stoked they exist!
A professional lab run by professionals (who also happen to be total legends and spend a heap of time with all their customers). So glad I found this place! Couldn't recommend it any higher x
Extremely friendly staff. Kilian is a homie, helped me with all questions and concerns I had. Takes me 2 n half hours just to get to the shop but it's 100% worth it. Also the dogs really cute.
If you're happy to be patient (this isn't a 1 hour spit-it-out lab), it's 100% the best lab in Australia (i've tried them all over the past 5 years). I can't give enough praise to the team here.so darn good. Props to whoever started this and kept it going. I won't be going anywhere else.
I am new to film photography and these guys answered all my questions and most importantly did a fantastic job developing the film. Highly recommended and will be using them again.
Blown away by the service, attention to detail, quality of scans and the fact that Racquet are turning orders over faster and faster. Add a cute little doggo and the coolest store around and it's a perfect formula. Wish I could give more stars.
Absolutely fabulous little store, I received my film within days of dropping it off, and was welcomed with open arms (and a very adorable puppy) when I came to drop it off. The quality is amazing, especially considering it was an amateur roll of disposable camera film from a very dark event, and I could not be happier with the outcome.
Once again, I recommend this place 110%, and will definitley be returning!
Didn’t know a lot about developing film but all of the staff helped me a lot. There was also a little dog there how cute!
The best quality development in Brisbane hands down. They take slightly longer but review and correct every image. Never had an issue and have used them religiously. I'm aware they had some serious issues of late, but it's rather evident that the hundred plus 5 star reviews outweigh the five or so people who weren't happy during the short time they fought an uphill battle (some of which seem to have not even trialled their service).
HIGHLY recommend Recquet Films. Friendly staff, fast turnaround rate, and excellent scan quality. These guys are the best in the business.
From the way they respond to negative reviews and their general lack of organisation demonstrated by the poor communication regarding operational hours, I think it's clear they have no idea whatsoever what they are doing. A shame as I'm a local to the area and would have loved to have recommended them.
Whether professional or amateur photographer these guys should be your first choice for development. The quality and care they put into your prints is second to none.
For anyone that has been in the loop with Racquet for the last few months you’ll know that an integral member of their staff has been in the ICU. I was extremely disappointed to see some of the impatient, negative comments over the last few months. As Racquet perfectly put it themselves, “a human life is more important than a roll of film” and if some recent customers can’t understand that then they need to re-evaluate their priorities. If you come across one of these reviews please feel free to ignore it and focus on the thousands of consistent five star reviews.
The whole team deserve high-fives, fist bumps and cold beers in abundance for continuing to knock out exceptional work even in the face of adversity.
Massive love and thanks guys.

I understand that a staff member was gravely ill and was in intensive care recently. This is horrible and employee health is certainly a major priority, especially in such a small team as Racquet.
However, the major issue is the staff communication during this time.
In a previous response to negative feedback that another customer left, I noticed that the staff made a plea to essentially say 'well employee health is more important than posting on instagram'. 100% this is absolutely true, especially considering how ill the staff member was. Though I see in response to previous negative feedback RE: opening hours, the staff used the excuse of 'well you could check our instagram where we post regularly to give updates. '
And during this time, Racquet did indeed post on instagram. Multiple times. They made one instagram story apologising for their poor communication around their closing hours, as initially all they did was stick an A4 piece of paper to their door which advised they would be 'back next week', with no date to tell you when next week was. This instagram story was after about a week of being closed. They then made another post 2 weeks later saying they would be open again 'this coming Tuesday'. I tried to go to the studio that 'coming Tuesday' and to my surprise, they were still not open. I checked the instagram post again to see that it had been edited to say 'the Tuesday after next'.
Then my last attempt, I tried to go to the studio on the following Tuesday which they said was the 'official reopening'. Only to find yet again that they were indeed not open, and another customer had even commented on their instagram post to say "you're not open: (" as obviously they were in the same boat as I.
Now why am I so upset by this? Because all of this frustration, clearly experienced by multiple customers, could have been so easily avoided. 2 instagram posts was all it would take.
Post 1: Staff member is gravely ill, we will be closing the doors of Racquet during this time and will update everyone once we're back.
Post 2: Hi everyone, we're back in business and processing film again.
Simple!
Please stop defending yourself with 'oh but I was worried about saving a person's life'. I have had family in intensive care, and I guarantee you there isn't a single thing you can do for someone who is in intensive care if you aren't a doctor/surgeon/nurse. Please stop deleting negative feedback and acting like you're the victim in this situation. This feedback here is intended to help you learn from these experiences and find ways to do things right in the future - right by your staff AND your customers.
I honestly wish Racquet the best as they are the only genuine film processing studio in Brisbane, and I hope that they do learn from this experience and are able to have more success in the future.
Edit: As you can see from the owner's response - they have completely missed the point. I'm not upset because I desperately wanted my film developed. I'm upset they couldn't communicate something extremely simple RE: opening hours, but were more than happy to post 'check out this cool pic by @photographer' on instagram while someone was on the edge of death in intensive care. The owner's response speaks volumes to their maturity.
Based on some rolls I picked up for someone, their film processing is fine, but I've never had my own film processed there. Because they're never open. I work just up the road, been down three times during their listed business hours and twice they've just been closed with no notice. Nothing on the website. I guess always call ahead to make sure they're actually open when you want to go in. Personally I've given up as it's easier to drive across town on a weekend to a store I know will actually be open.
Edit: Not everyone follows social media, and when you have a big note on the door saying you're not accepting more film until next week, no-one is going to drop off in the box. Sorry to hear about your staff member.
The staff are super friendly and they have great quality and consistency. Its why I keep going back for all my film processing.
