Martial arts has been a part of my life for 40 years. When it came time to train my own kids, I needed them to learn in a fun environment with suitable discipline.

The Mighty Matts program offers exactly that, with techniques described as "flip the pancake, cut the pancake" to help the kids and theory about respect and focus.

I train alongside my kids to keep my fitness up and build community, and the MF family welcomes my experience and shared respect.

I'd recommend it for Mums and Dads, and especially the kids. Come along and see for yourself.

I joined back in November 2019 as support to my youngest two boys, the physical activity, self confidence and self discipline was what I thought they needed. Slowly the eldest lost interest due to social factors, but the youngest stuck with me for a few months anyway. What was my excuse to keep going? , both boys had left. There was something I was taking into my daily life out of these classes. So I kept getting up on a Saturday morning (much earlier then I was used to) and making sure I was ready to go at the start of class. Then COVID hit and I was a little anxious, if I don’t have class to go to will I still want to return when it’s all over. As if an answer to my question the Zoom invite came. And like many families at MF I got up a little earlier to make sure I was ready and to rearrange furniture so that I would have a comfortable training space. The zoom classes were amazing and with the watchful eye and support from our instructor just as present. I was proud to be a part of the community, when I saw all the hard work that went into ensuring our training paid off with our belt grading. When we were allowed to return to training in groups you could feel the excitement from everyone. But quickly back into training and getting ready for grading and Championships which I unfortunately was unable to attend.
I am a thankful I kept going after the boys split, I am a proud member of the MF community and am excited to continue my journey.

Our then 7yr old started with MF Mangohill almost 3yrs ago after receiving a pamphlet from his school. It has been the best decision and experience for him as well as us parents. The instructors and staff are beyond amazing. We are very happy with our MF school and have recommended MF to lots of our family and friends.

This is a great Martial Arts community. My son has gained so much confidence in himself since joining. He has learnt so many life skills, not just martial arts. The instructors are patient and bring out the best in my son.

My daughter is heading into teenage years soon and has been doing martial arts with Matt Fiddes Aust.for 5 yrs now. She is going for her black belt grading this year. I initially started her to in still discipline. I could never have imagined the journey could of shaped her to the person she now is. She has received so much more than the physical attributes of martial arts. She has also received life skills. I know that term is thrown around a lot so I will be more specific. She has learnt self respect, respect for others, how to navigate friendships, resilience, how to speak up, how to listen, compassion, confidence, kindness and integrity. She has learnt how to be the best version of herself whilst knowing how to look after herself both mentally and physically. If the need arises she will be able to protect herself and others. To me, as the mother of a daughter in this age, this is priceless. It is the dedication, knowledge, trust, and compassion of each and every person at Matt Fiddes that has assisted my daughter in what began as a chore to a passion. There is no more honourable people than the Matt Fiddes team who genuinely live according to the values they share, teach and enrich into every one of their students. Thank you.

We have had the most wonderful experience at MF over the last 3 years. The instructors are welcoming and inclusive, bringing out the best in every student. They teach karate in a really fun way, making the kids want to listen and learn. The "mat chat' at the end of the class is so valuable, teaching the students about self-control, stranger danger, resilience, how to handle bullies and how to work towards goals.

Lots of friendly instructors who work with the children. Fun games that compliment their martial art learnings. There are grading 4 times a year, so they are always learning new skills. Parents are welcome to watch - highly recommend

We joined my son up for the Mighty Matts program while isolating during COVID to give him an extra physical outlet (over Zoom). We were very impressed with the professionalism of the organisation and instructors, including the way they were able to engage the kids over Zoom. My son even completed his first ever grading over videocon, which was something to behold!
He loved it so much (and we were so impressed) that we stuck with it once real world classes were available again. Mighty Matts has given him so much - new physical skills, new friends, a mutually respectful relationship with his instructor, skills to build his motivation and discipline, goals to strive for and a sense of achievement. Highly recommend.

Matt Fiddes Martial Arts has been amazing during lockdown providing many additional online lessons for kids to take part in. They have gone above and beyond what was expected. My child loved each and every lesson and attended 3 lessons a week. Him looking forward to lessons so much was a good indication on how well the online lessons were presented.

I don’t normally write reviews but this place is 5 stars without a doubt! My son started with Mighty Matts. He loved it! Learning about stranger danger, respect and focus, he went all the way the Mighty Matt’s Black belt. Now he is in Junior classes. He still loves it! Learning to perfect his technique, new kicks and blocks, never to give up and helping with his confidence and so much more. Most of all, my son is part of a Martial Art family that supports him. Even when he was being bullied at school his instructor talked to the kids in class about anti bullying and checking in with us to make sure he was ok. I would highly recommend Matt Fiddes Martial Arts School to anyone. Thanks you Matt Fiddes family xx

My son joined 5 years ago and has LOVED every second of it. When he joined he was very shy and lacked self confidence, but doing martial arts with such supportive instructors has made him so much more confident is his day to day life.

This Martial Arts school was almost perfect until I realised that every kid wins a prize.literally. About 1 year after I had quit on red belt, I went to watch my cousin undergo a grading for his black belt and I had to watch all of the juniors do their PT portion of the grading. This was disgusting. Push ups consisted of going down 3cm before coming back up, so their arms weren't coming down to 90 degree angles. Sit ups were just laying down and lifting your neck up and down. And last of all, half the of them could not remember what they were supposed to in order to complete their grading. If I'm not mistaken, shouldn't a grading be taken seriously? Because if so, the above things said should not be occurring regularly. I did this for three years and nothing changed and it got to the point where I felt like I was trying for nothing knowing that I'm going to complete the grading anyway.
