Great atmosphere, high level training, and friendly community. This is the first time for my girls to try Jiu-Jitsu, but everyone in this school kindly support them. I am so impressed with their growth both in physically and mentally in such a short time. The best thing is, kids are really love to be a part of this team.

My youngest daughter joined here and I was so impressed with the culture of the place and the confidence she got that I enrolled my older daughter - and then I signed up too! In my first year I’ve had a blast, lost weight (10kgs) and improved my fitness enormously. It’s been so nice to feel fit and healthy again! Just as importantly, it’s a lovely community, where everyone is very welcoming and supportive.

I have been going to Gracie Barra Surfer's paradise for over a year now, I have found it to be a very friendly supportive gym to train at. I feel like professor Gui and the coaches are very supportive of everyone's individual journey and goals, whether you just want to learn at a laid back pace and have a bit of fun or if you are person who wants to challenge themselves within the sport, they will support you.

As a woman, close contact sport can be intimidating if you are training with men, but I feel like the professor and the coaches make sure to maintain the feeling of safety for students, and in my experience I have never felt belittled or creeped out by any member of the gym. I feel just as safe and supported by the male members of the gym as the women, and in general, I have made many friends at the gym I have a lot of fun training with and many higher belt friends who support and encourage me through my learning. A special shout out to coach Via also, for making efforts to have the women in the gym feel encouraged!

I highly recommend booking a trial class if you are looking at this review while considering if you want to try Bjj or this gym in particular. Going to Gracie Barra surfers paradise is often my highlight of the day, and although bjj may not be for everyone, you kind of won't know unless you give it a go, and because I love it so much, I can see the potential in everyone loving it, so I kind of just want everyone to give it go!

Where can I start, started off as an interest and was so scared my fitness would be my down fall.
However the team were so welcoming and made me feel so comfortable. I ended up signing up my daughter in the process and she has fallen in love with it as much as me.

This gym is amazing. I have been training here for two years now, and I have grown in every area of my life because of it. Professor Gui is an amazing instructor. I very much like and admire the way he teaches. All of the coaches here are excellent. They always take the time to answer questions, and have a deep passion for what they do. From day one everyone here has been incredibly welcoming. I would highly recommend GBSP for anyone looking to develop practical skills, build character, and meet new friends.

Both my sons and I have been training at Surfers Paradise Gracie Barra for 3 and 4 years now consecutively.

I love training here, it's so clean, friendly and professionally run. If you ever want a safe community to train with, this is the place. All of the people I train with here are awesome, and Professor GUI, Coach Chato, and Coach Cameron always make the classes fun.

I've been a martial artist and, at one point, a Muay Thai fighter for almost 14 years. My second martial art, Bjj, has only lately begun for me. Being involved in martial arts has allowed me to see a wide variety of gyms, the good, the bad, and the ugly. According to the recommendation I received, Gracie Barra Surfers Paradise had a humble, equitable, and sincere attitude that welcomed all novices. I was not disappointed when I arrived; I found the aforementioned attributes, as well as a superb technical learning environment and an epic mood, to be consistent with the advise. This is a pleasant atmosphere. My abilities are rapidly improving, and being injury-free has been a highlight of my time here.
