Cineplex South Bank reviews
78 Hello,
the IMAX or Cineplex is the largest cinema in Brisbane and has replaced the Regent Cinema in the city. A large cinema just 3 minutes walk from the Southbank. The street with all the shops, apartments and cinema is not yet 15 years old but is a very popular meeting place for shoppers and food lovers. In addition to the Kono, there are countless bars and restaurants here. On the weekends there is a lot going on here from morning onwards. But it's also a pretty expensive area.
Nice cinema. There is free parking for 4 hours. True, when we were there on the weekend it was full, we had to look for a place nearby for a fee.
Could be a lot better and regain it's former glory. Was disappointed to see flies interfere with film screening in cinema 5 as they landed on projector lense. Also, fruit flies a problem in Ladies bathroom
Really good price for both movie tickets and snacks. Only downfall was the 30 minutes of adds but very good value made up for this.
Inexpensive cinema with a good ambience. One star deduction because there is only salty popcorn.
It's a great place to go for the price. $10 tickets and a medium popcorn is $4. Free parking for 4hrs when you see a movie.
The seats are not designated so if you're seeing a new release, recommend getting there early.
Pricing is incredibly competitive which was a massive bonus! I wasn’t expecting such a slanted seating section nor was I expecting the curved screen which was cool. I found some of the staff at the ticket booth a little off putting / rude. The thing for my lower rating is definitely due to cleanliness. The bathrooms were quite disgusting tbh, it looked like none of the sanitary bins have been changed in days as there was tampons and pads spewing out of the bins, there was hair and rubbish on the benches / floor too. It wasn’t very nice to come into when that was the first place I went after pulling in the car park. More regular cleans would be the way to go.
Great place to watch a movie for 9$. I watched Barbie there. Pretty impressed with sound quality and picture quality.
Just the seat could be more comfortable, so giving 4 star
Whilst inexpensive, do not go here during school holidays unless you have school children under your consideration for the movie.
Concerning with no seat allocation in cinema and place felt dirty. Toilets floor was sticky. People weren't wearing masks.
Big nice and clean free parking if you get in soon enough and the ticket itself knows what to do once it get validated.
Pretty decent place. Better than event cinemas. The only problem is that they do not have assigned seats.
Good, very well priced, however nothing special. Cinema 5 is probably the only one worth watching a film at
While the Tickets are cheap there are a number of problems.
1. No hot food options.
2. Toilets rarely cleaned and are in a mess.
3. Poor social distancing, mask wearing, etc.
4. Very noisy cinema patrons during the movie
Vast majority of these last three issues belong to the u18 brigade.
As a visitor from Melbourne this may be the worst cinema I've ever been to. They don't assign seats, the people here don't line up and push in front of each other so they can get the seat they want, the seats are horrible quality, people talk loud and some were on their phones during the movie, someone was literally on a call. I guess it's because the tickets are cheap?
Is this normal here?
Didn't really expect one of the staff to be rude and annoyed to serve me even though I just wanted tickets popcorn and drinks but it was sad to experience it hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.
Used to be my to go cinema since high school because it's cheap but it's getting worse lately.
Due to the pandemic, they cut short on staffs so there's not enough people to control the cinema.
My partner got harassed by an old lady who seemed to have too much time on her hand coming to a cinema to condemn people about spreading covid. Not a single security guard to be seen.
First come first serve policy for seating is understandable but you need to have a staff to manage people. Just because you want to cut the ticket cost doesn't mean you should let everyone to fight for their seats. If you were in a big group of family that couldn't come early then good luck.
If I could give no stars I would. Cinemas are outdated and worse seats ever. Customer service is atrocious! Parking here is the worse, old love validated our ticket told us we had 15 minutes to leave so off we went. Little did we know an Audi (TUNA88) was gonna block up the gates, had to get my ticket re-validated TWICE, just to come back down to some old man who works at the cinema and some Karen having a go at my family. Take responsibility and just own a situation, would have appreciated a supporting worker rather than some old man assuming things from other passengers of the car. Hold your opinions and hear a customer out first. Then once you have all the information, get a situation handled and control the situation by being an equal.
If your workers just listened to the situation and held their tongue before assuming anything. Would have had the issues sorted in less time than it had taken. Whole situation was unnecessary.
And to the candy bar colleagues, don’t tell a customer information like it’s obvious they should know. Use guidance and educate rather than putting the blame back on a customer. Control the situation instead of allowing it to get out of hand.
Saw Dune here last night (travelled 4 hours so I could see it at Cinema 5 on the biggest screen possible) and it was so easy to print my online tickets out myself. Staff in the candy bar were friendly and helpful, the toilets were clean and the cinema seats were very comfy. Best of all was the amazingly cheap ticket price for such a big cinema. I'll be back.
Value tickets, in return you get a great cinema experience. There's not much cinema that you can watch an IMAX 3D movie for under $11
