I signed up for a two-week trial class with a friend and found it quite interesting, so I stayed. At first, I was not used to the random teaching method, and I couldn’t keep up with the movements. But after persisting, I found that my physical strength and mobility have improved significantly, and I can get started faster. The coaches and students here are very friendly and patient, and all questions asked are answered in detail. Socially friendly environment.

At first, I had a hard time adapting to the random class content and had trouble keeping up with the movements. However, after persevering, I noticed a significant improvement in my physical and mental stamina, and I also became better at executing the movements. Senseis and fellow students here are very friendly and patient, and they always provide detailed answers to any questions I have. It's a socially-friendly environment, which is great for someone like me who struggles with social anxiety.

An excellent karate school teaching traditional Okinowan karate. While the karate is taken seriously, there is also a smattering of humour to keep classes fun. Definately a recommended dojo.

I joined a few years ago originally to get some karate lessons for my boys. (Their kids lessons are fantastic BTW.)

However, after a break, I came back just to keep learning it for my own sake, and it has been a remarkable de-stress from work and a great fitness program. Also, as a guy in his 40s who has never martial arts before, I would strongly encourage anyone to come along and give it a go.

My kids joined the Dojo over a year ago and the atmosphere created by Cheyne Sensei and the team is amazing. Confidence, strength and general good attitude and discipline is what I've noticed my kids gained, so much so that I've also joined them and we are making it a family activity we can all enjoy and benefit from! HIghly recommended!

My kids (age 9 & 10) have joined recently. They absolutely love it. I love the fact they are happy to go without any complaining
Cheyne has a great rapport with the kids. But any kids who cross the line know they have done so. He provides a fantastic mixture of friendly, but still strict.

I have joined AKA recently as my son has been training here for some time. I did martial arts in my young days, for a long time, and decided to get back into it to stay fit, become flexible and get my body moving – after a day at the desk.
Everyone is super friendly at AKA and I have been enjoying the experience. There is a good amount of guidance, and I’ve been progressing well – or I’d like to think so.
Highly recommended.

This place is awesome! Since I joined 18 months ago I have become more confident and feel as if I have grown more as a person. Cheyne and his team are so easy to be around and the community is very friendly and supportive. I really enjoy learnining the practical self defence and and love the kumite! I personally would reccomend this Australian Karate Academy to anyone!

Fun for the whole family, just like a cheesy 80s Karate film, but with less crane kicks, fewer mullets and many more bad jokes. Unlike cheesy 80s Karate films, AKA classes contain real Karate and will teach you traditional, old-style & modern sports-style Karate techniques. Highly recommended.

I have only recently joined AKA and quickly witnessed that Sensei Cheyne and assisting instructors are very welcoming and supportive of all students, both new and existing. The dojo itself is clean and modern and I knew without a doubt that I wanted to continue training at AKA after the very first lesson. Highly recommend AKA to anyone and at any age wanting to get fitter and learn quality karate in a safe and friendly environment.

100% Recommend Australian Karate Academy to everyone! My little boy is extremely shy and starting karate has been amazing for his confidence. Cheyne and all the staff are wonderful with the children! We couldn’t be happier!
