To all woman looking for a trustworthy and dignified surgeon. Stay well away from Dr James Chen and his staff. Everything about this clinic is misleading and fraudulent. If you feel unsatisfied with the work Dr James Chen and his staff has done on you and you’ve queried it. You are likely to have experienced pain, severe bruising, tissue scarring, uneven lines, severe numbness, regular headaches, with your body looking worse than it did prior to surgery of surgery actually happened at all. In which case, you would’ve called through to the clinic or emailed Dr James Chen requesting a full refund. You may have had to fight for your refund also. As a result of your query, Dr James Chen would’ve either … threatened or convince you to follow his formality of signing a Deed of Release to protect himself from being sued for medical negligence and fraudulent activity. This is the only affordable way to resolve your dispute as he would’ve threatened you with legal action or simply told you that there’s no solicitors that will help you in this situation. So you feel trapped and end up signing the deed. He will also ask you to remove bad reviews. That said, it doesn’t prevent a much larger problem nor does it protect the general public from future damages. If you’ve ever received services by this fraud. I strongly suggest you get in contact with The Office of Health Ombudsman immediately and talk to a solicitor right way.

Very overpriced, rude staff too. I received a quote for my treatment then when it actually came to the day of treatment they used an antibacterial gel without asking if I wanted it and then charged me for it too, very rude and unprofessional. I had to help the girls out the front with their maths when it came to adding everything up. I sent an email asking for an official receipt, they then gave me a phone call and were extremely rude, I had to tell them to stop talking and let me actually talk, no customer should have to do this. They proceeded to say “you don’t get anything back so why do you need one” extremely extremely extremely unprofessional and horribly rude. If I had of done my research I would have definitely gone to a different clinic. I won’t be coming back here.

AVOID ASHBURY —— December 2017 I had a male abdominoplasty from dr Boyle at the ashbury clinic. Long story short I had no liposuction and have been left basically with excess skin removed & that’s it.
No contouring no anything that was promised just a slap and grab job. Living some 4 hours away from Brisbane the ordeal I’ve had is unbelievable. From 2 cancelled appointment whilst travelling to Brisbane and all the work commitments that ones moves to make the initial appointments to 16 hours post surgery dr Boyle telling me to discharge myself from hospital and travel 30 mins to the ashbury clinic office so he may examine me for the FIRST time, no bedside visit just jump in a car after having a surgery from hip to hip. I clearly wasn’t happy with the lack of workmanship and how it doesn’t look right. We discussed revisions and dr Boyle expressed how it often happens & my situation is no different.
At this stage I felt that I really should record this conversation in case I miss any information.
18 months post surgery still nothing has been done neither ashbury clinic nor Dr Boyle will honour the promise even with the voice recording. It’s embarrassing when you see another plastic surgeon for a second opinion and immediately they ask if I had it done in Thailand or Bali. Ashbury clinic take your money happily but do not care about the patient

I had liposuction surgery at the clinic in Windsor a few years ago. The results were very uneven and asymmetrical. I consulted with 2 other clinics after looking for a revision, and apart from being very expensive, I did not have confidence in them. Both doctors did make comment about the location of the incisions made from the previous surgery to be very odd, and poor choice.
I ended up sending my pictures to a clinic in Korea, and after communicating with them, I did the revision there. Absolutely outstanding! Again the doctor made comment about the location of the incisions from the previous surgery. The location of his incisions are so inconspicuous and smaller than the previous scars, and he performed 360 lipo to my upper and lower abs, sides and back to bring everything in balance.and at a fraction of the price in Australia! The standard of service there and quality of work is second to none, and done in world class facility. I would not recommend Ashbury to anyone.

My experience was horrific and a nightmare. I was attending the Ashbury clinic on a regular basis to have my tattoo removed using laser treatment and it was going fine, my tattoos were fading until Dr Chen decided to have a go and he just recklessly destroyed my skin leaving ugly looking scars and when I tried to raise the issue he is being completely ignorant, inconsiderate and unwilling to help and furthermore he harasses me with threatening emails late at night and at 1.30 in the morning that I have reported him to the Police about. Dr Chen persistently harasses me with evasive untrue statements claiming I had some form of underlying scarring on my skin from the tattooing process which is not the case and completely untrue as the ink is meant to be fading away slowly and not completely obliterated from my skin and the City Tattoo Removal Clinic have confirmed that when I visited them. Dr Chen also have the before photos of the tattoo that he is refusing to show that would show evidence of any underlying scarring issues that he claims I had from the tattoo process due to the shear extent of the scarring. I just barely had around 17 treatments at the Ashbury clinic and in the last 10 treatments it seemed to be going nowhere, it was barely fading, Dr Chen was even talking about how difficult it is to get removed because the ink was very deep. He also claims that I have never raised the scarring issue and I did at the time and all his response was that I signed the form about the risks involved and that was it, he didn't seemed to care or show any concern about it whatsoever. He did however treat the scar he caused by giving me an injection to reduce the ugly puffiness. Ashbury is now refusing to speak to me and recently sent me an email saying that I have to contact them through my lawyer in future and if I contact them again they will report me to the Police just so they can get rid of me. Furthermore, they said they have reported me to the Police making defamatory accusations that I was harassing them and being abusive, which Is untrue. If I am unhappy with the service I receive I have a right to complain and I have a right to be unhappy as they have completely disfigured my skin, leaving ugly looking scars. I have also the right to be unhappy as they are refusing to refund the money and show the before photos, the callous ignorant response I received and the threats that I had to report Dr Chen to the Police. He shouldn't be a surgeon his attitude is disgusting and disgraceful. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone, keep right away from them.

I recently had treatments of sclerotherapy for spider veins from Dr Chen with poor results. I had previously had sclerotherapy performed by Dr Chen some years ago with great results, though his attention to detail more recently is now lacking. When I went back about the concern, he was defensive and unwilling to help.

Had some liposuction done around the neck area. Whole process was not good. After the operation there was very little info on what happened next. The following day I had forgotten the time for my post op review and tried calling numerous times to find out but no one answered. Then after one was made up it was canceled due to an emergency, (which i understand) however i was informed that i would be contacted to get another one which never happened. To top it off the procedure as a whole wasn't worth a penny there is no difference at all in the appearance to the treated area even when all post op information was followed.

Rang specifically to ask how much Dysport was a unit, was told they charge per area NOT per unit so for one area it would be $199. Great. After the procedure I am asked to pay $239, I say sorry I was quoted $199, they say it’s $199 for up to 46 units, if the Dr decides to use over 46 units in the one area you’re charged extra, I say - well you should say that when explaining pricing it’s not what I was expecting, they charge me the price quoted after Dr gives the ok to do so - but no apology, just look at me blankly and nod like I am crazy and it’s somehow my fault for not knowing.
If there are exceptions both the receptionist quoting on the phone and the Dr administering should be pointing this out. Not happy with customer experience so 2 stars, incidentally also kept waiting one hour without any apology.

The receptionist was rude and racist. She didn't even listen what I was asking about. Unprofessional!

He is kind, reassuring, confident and very professional. The results of the
procedure exceeded my expectations.
The staff were very courteous, professional and truly efficient.

I had surgery in November 2022 for severe gynecomastia. I was very happy with my experience.

Since gyno is an embarrassing issue for men, I was happy that Dr Chen, as well as the staff, were compassionate regarding my situation. Dr Chen was very helpful and answered all of the questions I had about the surgery and recovery.

The operation was straight forward, and my recovery was quick and almost completely pain free. I was very impressed with the results too!

I went back in 6 months later for both a review, and to ask about minor scar tissue. He provided me with a kenalog injection, free of charge!

I can honestly say getting this surgery was one of the best things I’ve ever done, and for any men out there who also suffer from gynecomastia, I highly recommend Dr Chen.

I had Erbium laser resurfacing done 2 years ago at Ashbury clinic to remove my sun damage and wrinkles. I am so happy with the results because it is more permanent than the other Fraxel laser that I had done multiple times before. Their service is impeccable.
I just had Cooltech fat freezing procedure done a month ago and already seeing a smaller tummy. Ashbury clinic prices are very affordable. I am definitely coming back.

I go to Ashbury Cosmetic Surgery at Windsor for botox in the back of my neck and also my shoulders. I have headaches and neck and shoulder tension pain all the time from a whiplash incident years ago. The injections helped me instantly with a headache I had at the time! I couldn't believe it. And it keeps on helping for quite a few months. I think for some reason it lasts longer in your neck and shoulders than elsewhere. This treatment has been a life changer for me. I no longer need to live on pain killers for weeks on end. I have had it done a few times now with Dr Chen and will keep it up. Thank you Ashbury. My quality of life has much improved.

I had a lower facelift (mini facelift/s - lift) recently performed by Dr Chen and I am 'over the moon' with the result. The staff at reception and clinic nurses were, and continue to be wonderful. They all made me feel so relaxed and comfortable every step of the way. I highly recommend this clinic for this and other facial procedure:)

Based on my personal experience, I can tell that Ashbury Clinic is one of the best places to get liposuction treatment. I got mine done by Dr. James Chen and I was super impressed! He is a highly experienced surgeon with extensive knowledge of the procedure and very hygienic and friendly. The prices are also quite reasonable. You will get good value for money. I can vouch for that.
