The 2 young lads the took us to the southern rock hole in the tinnie, were very pleasant and informative. An extremely cost affective way to experience Katherine Gorge and have a dip in a lovely rock pool. Nb watch out for the little fish. You may find one nibbling on your big toe

The Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge 3.5-Hour Sunset Dinner Boat Tour was an awesome experience. To enjoy the most beautifully presented & delicious 3 course dinner in an iconic location was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.

Did the three gorges cruise with Russell, a Jaywon man and fantastic tour guide. He generously shared his culture and stories. Plenty of cold water and shade on a hot day. Swim stop is a highlight. Highly recommend. Thanks again Russell.

We did the dawn cruise. It was a beautiful time of day to see the gorges and a good amount of time too. Loved how quiet and peaceful it was at this time. I’d recommend arriving a little earlier than the meeting time so you can enjoy the snacks/ fruits and things beforehand.

We also did the cutta cutta caves tour and it was fantastic. Be curious and ask lots of questions and you’ll likely get a lot out of it. Ben was a great tour guide

Great experience. We did the morning half day tour, and I think it would be better than the afternoon one. It was so perfectly still and quiet when we started. I’d recommend being the first canoe out on the water, and enjoying the absolute stillness of the water ahead. The swimming was fun.

If you do the half day tour you’ll have time to do the first three gorges. The first gorge is a boat tour as there are saltwater crocs and you can’t swim or canoe in it. It’s then a short walk across some rocks and sand to the canoes, and once you’re in a canoe it’s a lovely trip for the second gorge. You then have to get out and pull your canoe through a rocky outcrop. This was difficult, and I wished I’d brought my reef shoes for grip and protection. The third gorge is equally beautiful and ends with a rock area and beachy pool with great climbing and photo opportunities. We spent some time in that area, leaving our canoe at the end of the third gorge while we did so.

Note, if you are hoping to see that narrow section of the gorge you will have to go up further than we did (and do the full day tour). It’s also worth noting that canoeing is surprisingly hard work! But for us it was great for the half day.

The full-day kayak tour was great. Amazing vistas, a few lovely beaches you can access, and plenty of time to sit back and soak it all in. We didn't bother getting the kayaks further than the second barrier, i e.the third gorge (perhaps a double would be easier to deal with than two singles), but there wasn't that much water, which in turn made it all even more difficult. We just hung out around a pool instead so that we could go for short walks and come back to refresh.

Checking out the rock art along the gorge takes a bit of skill, but it's worth it and the views are amazing. If you have an inflatable doughnut (or a unicorn if that's more your style), bring it with you.
What could make this tour even better is some more information and perhaps even a map and some advice on what's doable at the moment. We found the gorges past the third one to be quite difficult for portage, and we heard people taking ages to get across, only to have to do it all over again to get back. Perhaps it's easier during different times of the year. Also, we only had a photo of the map and although it's good to avoid paper maps, it could prove useful taking one with you. Bring plenty of food and water, and reef shoes or something to make it easier to move on slippery rocks.

We didn't see any crocodiles, but there are plenty of birds and lizards, some wildflowers and lots of amazing plants and trees. A truly breathtaking place!

Highlight of our NT experience. It has a different feeling being in a place where you know human walked through those rocks 40,000 years ago. Highly recommended, tour guides are good as well.
