Karrke Aboriginal Cultural Experience & Tours

A really great overview of Central Australian Aboriginal Culture. It included an overview of what seeds and plants were gathered and how they were prepared, what weapons were used for hunting, what the symbols on paintings mean, traditional pigments, making clapping sticks, cooking witchetty grubs and medicinal plants.

Absolutely loved this tour. We went as a family (12 + 9 yo). Also great for any age. Very informative on all aspects of authentic aboriginal culture. A must do if in the Kings Canyon area.

This experience is one of the most fantastic things my family and I did on our central Australia adventure. Highly recommend this activity. We learnt so much from our very friendly hosts. Loved the Karrke experience. Our guides were very knowledgeable and friendly with such a warm feeling about them. Explanations were good and information useful. It enhanced our trip through the red centre massively. This was a highlight of our trip. Shady placed to sit during demonstrations. Plenty of flies as expected. The change to each a grub was excellent! Taste like buttery popcorn. Great experience for all, even kids. The chance to be hands on and touch and feel was great. We would recommend this to all people and would go back ourselves. Well worth the money. A+

The Karrke Aboriginal Cultural Experience was an absolute highlight of my Uluru and Kings Canyon roadtrip! The tour was set out and delivered in the most in such a professional and well thought out way. Peter and Christine shared so much about their local culture which amazed myself and friends. The tour took about one hour. They teach you their fascinating ways of life including about Mai (mean­ing food in the Lurit­ja lan­guage) edi­ble tree seeds and grass seeds. You may even get to try some Mai. They teach you about the important grinding stones, weapons and tools of the their land, Painting and story telling.
I enjoyed every moment.

I have traveled a lot around australia and in my opinion this is the best aboriginal experience in all Australia. If you around Kings Canyon you should go and have this wonderful experience.
