Been here a few times in the dry season. Just had three days in the Wet. Awesome flight over the NP from Jabiru. Loved staying at Cooinda and the Yellow Waters sunrise cruise. Lots of water!

Entire parks better sites were mostly closed.thankfully we saved the fuel and went elsewhere after looking it up on the Kakadu website this was also expected to be the case after talking to locals at a few pubs earlier in the week

Kakadu National Park, in the Top End or the Northern Territory, is a World Heritage Site and one of the planet's great wilderness areas. Covering more than 19,840 square kilometers, Kakadu is the largest national park in Australia and the second largest in the world. Within its borders lie monsoon rainforests, mangrove swamps, rivers, gorges, ancient rock paintings, wetlands, and waterfalls, as well as an astounding diversity of wildlife. In addition to the many mammals, reptiles, and fish, more than 300 different species of birds make their home here, and both freshwater and saltwater crocodiles lurk in the wetlands. You can explore the park's diverse ecosystems by car, air, boat, or on foot via the vast network of hiking trails. Note that during the wet season (Nov-April), many roads and attractions close due to heavy flooding.

Most of Kakadu was under a shallow sea approximately 140 million years ago, with the escarpment wall formed from sea cliffs and Arnhem Land from a flat plateau above the sea. The escarpment rises 330 metres above the plateau and extends approximately 500 kilometres along the East edge of the park and on into Arnhem Land. The escarpment varies from near vertical cliffs in the Jim Jim Falls area to isolated outliers and stepped cliffs in the North.

Kakadu has so much to offer. The landscape changes considerably as you drive through. Each season has something to offer. The wetlands have a lot of birds. Heaps of crocs in the rivers.don't swim there. Scenic flights, boat cruises and walks on offer. I loved my visit here. The campsites are also great.

Disappointed. I went in the wet season. The park is huge and mostly looks all the same. The Nourlangie rocks are beautiful, but not worth the drive. Certainly overrated. I understand the great value for the local Aboriginal community, but not much to do for tourists. You will be swarmed by mozzies, flies, ants and spiders. Perhaps if you can visit the waterfalls it may be ok, but if you got a spare day rather go to Litchfield National Park. For me it's Kaka-don't, but feel free to disagree.

Kakadu National Park is a great park where you can get a glimpse of nature. You will be able to play flute and harmonica. You can meditate peacefully. A lovely place. Best wishes from Performing Artist Society!

Very nice place to go and spend a few days visiting. I spent three days there and there was a lot to see and do during that period. But make sure to bring an insect repellent: so many flys over there!

It feels like a big Zoo, not like a national park. Very high entrance price even though 3/4 of the park was closed off. Paved tracks and signs everywhere with things you are not allowed to do. Dozens of Police and rangers at every corner to make sure you obey the rules. It's over the top and should be more relaxed. I expected it to be more natural but I didn't get the feeling of freedom and nature due to all the restrictions. Wouldn't recommend to anyone and will not come back.

OMG.amazing.so deserving of the World Heritage Listing. The birdlife plants wetlands escarpment waterfalls goes on and on. If you are a photographer you'll wet yourself. Yellow water cruise early morning is the one to take. Was there in late December so lush and green.

What a great location. If you want to see it properly make sure you stay somewhere in the park. It is too far to drive from darwin for a day trip. The river cruise was fantastic. Seeing crocs in their natural environment is way better than anything else. Some of the artwork in the area is amazing so definitely something to look out for. Will be returning to see more of the place for sure

Great place. Ubirr with exquisite aboriginal art and distant views- Cahill crossing watching crocs washing over the causeway.

What an amazing Day.
Todays journey is heading to Cahill Crossing and sunset at Ubirr.
Last time through here was dry season again with a scorched landscape. This time the lush apple green new growth. Diversity of Australia bush, aboriginal art and of course the breath taking view of the wetlands from the top of the rock. A cloudy day but mother nature came through with sunset.
Cahill crossing was at high tide and no crocodile to be seen. Disappointingly thwre removed the cars that have gone over the waterway which did add to its exciting history and good photography but a well worth visit.
Long way from Darwin though worth every KM

Hi, we stayed in the lodge as part of a party. Lodge was fine, is early season maybe & some building work going on - but was not a problem. Then in morning had a 2 hour cruise for the birds & Crocs. That was excellent, but as am English I was glad it was early morning. Saw some of the park & art. Thanks to you original guys for that.

Absolutely amazing. Fantastic opportunities to learn about the local Aboriginal culture! Easy to visit most of the highlights on a 2WD. Great for landscape photography, croc spotting cruises and walks. We spent 2 days but would have happily spent a whole week if we could. Not to be missed!

Big but the views are mostly the same. And a lots of biting insects even in dry season. Would be interesting for those who's curious about aboriginal people. Better go to Litchfield for nature

I'm mixed on Kakadu. If you want to see waterfalls or are short on time/money I'd go to Litchfield National Park, as it's closer from Darwin, the roads are nearly all sealed and the waterfalls are great. Kakadu costs $100 a weeks pass for family. The sealed roads are fine, but be aware sites like Jim Jim falls and Gunlom are long unsealed roads and when we were there (late Aug) they were really poor (np park staff advised this was why Gunlom was so quiet). Personally my faves were Gunlom and Maguk which is a nice waterfall but with stunning swimming. Ubir disappointed after getting a permit and seeing the art at Injalak hill. Some of the facilities are great (Gunlom camping), others like Jim Jim where there are no shade/table facilities are poor. For a $100 it should be better. Also the camping, we stayed at Cooinda lodge and Jabiru rather than the b national Park sites, they were no dearer but had a swimming pool for the end of a hot day

Lots of driving but the scenery is great, the amenities were clean, the roads were generally very good, directions were pretty clear, the road trains are enormous, purchased our Park Pass online. We went on the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise on the East Alligator River, we were met by Neville who was very friendly and welcoming and Tyrone was our tour guide, he was informative, interesting & entertaining, highly recommend.

Great place to spend a week plenty to keep you entertained from watching crocodiles at the crossing into Arnhem land. If you intend to see Arnhem land you will need to get a permit before entering. Worth while jumping on a tour with the local indigenous people very informative.
