Gorge View Bush Retreat: Katherine Gorge Northern Territory

Loved this place. Hot pizza watching the sunset Elwin and Chis know how to look after you. Carney is the character making things happen. I reckon this is a must if travelling to Katherine.

Great location, beautiful sunset spot, and pristine facilities. However we were left pretty disappointed as we were expecting a private camp and this was not the case. We booked an unpowered camping spot but we were so close to other campers that I heard everything going on in their tent! And I mean everything.

I think this spot could be great, but unfortunately the information was really misleading online. Definitely not wide open spaces, it was really cramped. The staff seemed lovely and the people were respectful, just not private at all.

Stayed here over the weekend with my partner and we loved it. We stayed in an unpowered site with our tent. There are great facilities; a camp kitchen and bathrooms. Basic but clean and very useful. There is a short walk to a beautiful sunset viewing spot and I assume you could also view sunrise there too, however we took up the option to do yoga with Kate. We went to the Gorge and had a wonderful morning sunrise yoga session. It was pure bliss! We will be back and definitely will be recommending to friends.

Spacious campsite and beautiful sunset views from the hill. The hosts were very friendly and made some delicious woodfired pizza.

I was last here about 10 years ago and a return visit recently and the accommodations area is now full of mature trees shading the whole place giving privacy and a lovely ambience temperature all day. And so quiet after sunset.

Also the new owners Kate and Carney are very accommodating who live in their own house just a shout away on their own adjacent hilltop,

Can’t wait for my next return visit and the township of Katherine is still layback but have more services since I was last here. A definite plus plus.

We stayed at Gorge View Bush Retreat in June 2022 (family of 4) and had the best time! Great location, great views, and great hospitality. This has been our best stay in Katherine by far. The hosts were FANTASTIC, Carney was super knowledgeable and so generous helping us plan the next part of our trip. Can’t wait to be back!

What a fantastic place to stay for both locals and tourists when visiting Katherine and Nitmiluk Gorge. You are right out there amongst the great NT outback and the private campsites are perfect. Definitely recommend it for your next holiday.
