Frontier Hotel Darwin reviews
38Need to put in online booking that you need to pay $100 bond if a card or $209 if cash if you have neither too bad you loose your room. No refunds.
Great budget hotel. Free laundry and 25% discount on drinks if you are a guest. Free live bands and Tab, keno ant pokies available.
Cheap and cheerful accommodation in Darwin. Walking distance to the city centre and sites around town. Great value for the price you pay and staff are friendly
Tiny and very noisy. The cleaning ladies sound like they're having a party in the corridor at 0630! The room was very clean and there was internet TV with Netflix, that was good. It was the night of the Insurrection at Capitol Hill, Washington D. C. Which is why I included the pic of Stephen Colbert looking super serious. I watched the entire thing unfold, so for that I'm grateful for the internet TV.
If you feel like having a glass of wine and takeaway in your room, make sure you take your own cutlery and wine glass.
There are odd comings and goings there, and TBH, I felt afraid at times. Yes, there was a security guard sitting in the foyer overnight, but it didn't alleviate my fears. As a single woman who does a thousand things by myself, I never feel scared.
No undercover parking, and a very strange car park to boot.
Just not what I'm used to. The view from my room was quite pleasant.
Poor wifi internet connection, noisy guests, smelly rooms, found glass near the pool, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone
Room was dirty there was hair all over the shower I paid via booking.com arrived payed $100 deposit was told it would be refunded within two days rang back 3 weeks later to say I hadn’t received my deposit back and was told nothing could be done. Do not stay here unless you want to pay $200 for a dirty room for the night.
Overcharged. I booked through Jetstar and recieved a tax invoice for $40. Upon arrival, had to pay $56. Also the website said there was a continental breakfast included which doesn't exist. Rooms are what you expect for cheap accommodation, bot terrible.
I’d use the term hotel very loosely when describing the Frontier. The check in process was stressful as reception staff clearly had what seemed like absolutely no prior training. We were given the wrong directions to our room and given no information about services the hotel provided. Although the room was clean on arrival and relatively spacious, we weren’t offered any kind of room service during our stay. No fresh towels or bedding, no cleaning products to clean our bathroom with and no one emptied our bin for the entire 6 days we stayed at the “hotel. ” We spoke to another guest who was laundering her own bedding. As far as I’m concerned when paying to stay at a hotel, these basic services should be included in the price. Otherwise, what exactly are you paying for? I’ve had better treatment at budget hostels I’ve stayed in sharing a room with 7 other people.
Although we had access to wifi the connection wasn’t great. Our friends staying on levels 4 and 6 had little to no connection at all. We were on the underground (pool) level which meant our connection was slightly better. Despite there being a pool area to use, there were no sun loungers to relax on. Just a plethora of budget plastic and wooden chairs which I have no doubt would break at a strong gust of wind passing by. We were prohibited from using the pool for the remaining four days of our stay due to the behaviour of other guests on one particular event which resulted in the police turning up at the hotel. No formal apology or reimbursement was offered from the hotel staff. Essentially we were paying for a pool we couldn’t use for four days through absolutely no fault of our own.
After extending our stay for a further two nights out of convenience and a necessary last minute choice, I was later challenged by a rude member of staff at the reception desk claiming I had not paid for my extended two nights. I explained to her several times that it had already been paid and I could offer her the receipt as proof. She continued to argue with me before realising she had read the wrong information and realised I had actually paid. This seems to be a running problem as several other guests were challenged for not paying their fees when in actual fact they had.
The Frontier clearly needs to reevaluate its direction as a hotel and consider making some serious changes to protect the business. It’s clear that this venue does not prioritise customer comfort or satisfaction.
Exellent accomodation, clean and great location; the Punters Bar has a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly/helpful.
Punters Bar at Frontier Hotel a always good spot for live Sports coverage and a sherbert. Very friendly staff, tucker fine also. Very relaxed venue.
A little disappointed with the service provided, stay for 3 nights and was told housekeeping are done alternate days but during my 4 day stay not 1 day I had room service came over to clean my room.
But I guess that what you get for decent looking cheap hotel. If you don’t mind not getting any housekeeping but with similar facilities as what you get from The Mercure this hotel is a bargain for you.
Old hotel but not bad,
best views from restaurant, last night we had awesome food, fish, parmigiana, chips was crispy enough, price also cheap,
The location is great! You can walk to Mindil beach or the Amphiteatre as well as to the city center, spending much less than if you were to stay downtown. The staff is not particularly helpful, one big exception being the Dubliner girl, kudos to her. There were small ants in the rooms, the sink leaked, the toilets are not provided with a fan, which means that after a shower everything is foggy. The wifi was weak at the fifth floor.
Had a good food, family environment, roof top with beautiful sunshine view, wounderful musical program, middle of the city. I just recommend people to go n have a good time for party, dinner etc.
I stayed in this place when I was working FIFO. Not great food.rooms are not very clean. The only good point is the bar downstair.
We stayed there twice in July.
Still havent received room deposit back from our second stay.
When i called and enquired the receptionist called Michelle was very rude and uncooperative insisting the money wasnt debited from my account.
Despite me offering to send her a copy of the bank statement showing that it has.
When i asked to speak to the manager she just hung up on me.
Only $100 but her attitude has riled me up to take it up with Fair Trade.
1 star because cannot give less!
I had organised my daughter's weaning ceremony function at Frontier Hotel, Darwin on 7th August, 2019 and it went very good. The food was very very delicious, all our guest liked the food a lot. Thanks to the chef Prem Dhakal for serving such delicious Nepalese food to our guest on such a reasonable price. The staffs were also very polite and responsive. Me, my family and all our guests liked the food a lot and are grateful for making our daughter's weaning ceremony wonderful.
Stayed at this place for 2 days. Overall, I found it very good. The staff was great. The rooms were clean and everything was good.
