Desert Gardens Hotel - Ayers Rock Resort reviews
40I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The only thing I found a bit odd that you had no toaster or microwave in our room. Not everyone with a family can afford to eat out every day.
Everyone is lovely here, love if you don't get your room serviced, you will get a $10 discount on food and beverage. Clean and tidy, great that u can dine and shop and everything can be connected to your room, it's all under one umbrella,
The resort is done up with relative features.
Cleaners did a bad job on cleaning.
Nice hotel for the value given. Very close to Ayers rock.
Lots of flies, moths and insects
make sure to bring fly spray
3.5 out of 5
Had a lovely stay here after being offloaded from an overbooked Qantas link flight. Good and helpfull staff, and clean rooms. Easy to organise shuttle service to Uluru with front desk. A short walk to look outs where you can view the rock at a distance.
Very expensive for what it is but it is the only place near Uluru. No covered car parking so your car get extremely hot. Some of the rooms are a bit of a walk from reception. Our twin room is quite spacious with good comfortable Queen beds and the shower is great.
It is nice that there is a 4 star hotel in the middle of nowhere but I don't know if it's worth paying that much. Almost 600 AUD per night and they don't even give you a bottle of complimentary water in the room fridge. And on the website you can see Uluru from the balcony but we could hardly see anything.
A standard hotel. Given the limited lodging options, it's one of the better ones. The outback is quite interesting and unlike anything I've seen before.
We had an Uluru view room, expensive but nice. The Ayers Rock resort is a little sterile, a bit like a Disneyland of the outback, but take it for what it is and you'll enjoy it. Besides, there's not much choice of places to stay! The hotel rooms are a little tired, but adequate. Staff are helpful. We also stayed one night in Emu Walk and had an apartment, which apart from the lack of Uluru view we preferred. We had a meal we really enjoyed at the Outback Hotel, decent mix of quality and value - don't let the term buffet turn you off. Wouldn't do the field of light tour again, very underwhelmed when you have the natural spectacles to look at, but I expect that's a personal thing.
The resort contains several hotels, museum, cafes and shops. The hotel was ok, it needed paint and cleaning. The staff was helpful and my room had a nice view of Ayers Rock. The room and bathroom were good sized with a large tv, a microwave and a refrigerator.
Spent two nights here on our tour around Australia. I wasn't really sure what to expect as the location is very remote so was very pleasently surprised by the hotel & it's amenities were very good. The room was a good size & was nicely furnished & clean. The staff were friendly and efficient, would recommend a stay here.
Good resort for your Uluru visit. Be aware that some rooms are upstairs and you will need to carry your own bags so if an issue maybe best to request a ground floor room?
We were pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of the hotel, not knowing what to expect in the middle of the Outback!
Lobby and restaurants very modern.
Rooms are clean & spacious enough.
Reception can get very busy when newcomer arrive with parties going on trips.
Rooms were comfortable with big beds with helpful staff. Location is convenient, being near the town square with shops and within walking distance to some nice lookout points.
The room was very comfortable, laundry free & accessible. Pool was clean and family friendly. For such a remote place, well organised with fabulous amenities! The prices were not cheap, but definitely value, given the location.
Nice garden area. Although everything's pretty close this would have been a 5ish minute walk to town centre so not the closest. Regardless hotel and rooms looked nice
The room we were allocated was a very long walk from the car park. When dragging cases and bags in the heat this is no fun. It was equally as far to the town centre which is necessary to attend for provisions bookings and shops.
Given that our room was a disabled unit it beggars belief that a disabled person would be able to even get to the room. Being a disabled unit the shower completely soaked the bathroom when in use. Water was all over the floor meaning even if you wanted to use the towels twice there was no chance as they were needed to mop up the floor in order to access the toilet safely
No extractor fan in bathroom
Poor shower pressure
Bed sheets were not fitted so sheets became rumpled making sleeping uncomfortable
Given the cost of $450 per night this price is exorbitant as this accommodation is at best 3*
Why make the hotel so big that access to everything in the complex means you are tired before exploration of the area even starts?
Similar to a cruise ship when your cabin is at the other end of the ship to the dining rooms and function areas.
Service and accommodation were great. The restaurants at this hotel were fantastic. But what I liked the most was being picked up last and dropped off first for nearly all of the tours and events.
Rooms are serviceable and the facilities are OK. The hotel is a bit dated and because of its location a bit more expensive than normal. Staff were friendly and helpful and if was clean. It's not something you are going to write home about but it did the job for a long weekend exploring the national park.
Poor housekeeping. More likely due to poor training or cost cutting. Room was OK and was a good size. Not worth the money. Other small things like horrible coffee in the rooms. Prices reflect 4.5 stars but services about 3.5 stars. Restaraunt with the resort below par. Rude foreign waiters chatting to fellow countrymen while customers left waiting and local staff run off their feet to cover them. Duck you needed a steak knife to cut and pie crusts that could have been mistaken for ceramics. At time I thought I was in a scene from Fawlty Towers.
Room 369 was in a great location. Away from the main traffic of the resort, but close enough to the pool and front lobby.
The room had a great ensuite and was large enough to accommodate my family of 5 for our short 3 day stay.
The view from the balcony was amazing with clear view of Uluru.
