Darwin Aviation Museum reviews
57Excellent for any aviation enthusiast, or those that just like looking at a variety of aircraft and the history with them.
Great place if you are into Aviation. There are 3 video presentations, lots of aircraft including the b52. Parking is easy and 2hours should give you time for a detailed overview. We got a combination ticket when buying our RFDS tickets to save a few bucks.
You could spend hours here especially if you are interested in World War II planes. Good shop for books and memorabilia.
Very interesting place with so much aviation history. Friendly all around staff. Hangar Manager Steve is very knowledgeable and a great guide.
Amazing experience that was made extra special by Steve who personally took a moment out of his time to walk around and show us some of the amazing aircraft.
A shout out to Steve from Ashton, Lee and I, you made our day. Thank you so much.
Very interesting place. B-52 bomber is huge. Spitfire was fantastic. The whole place is amazing, a must see for Darwin.
This is a another great place to learn about Australia's part in the 2nd world war the bombing of Darwin
Some great bits of history but as someone in the industry, it was clear a lot of the displays had not been updated in a long time. I understand you can't change history but got to find ways to keep it fresh and you'd probably get more people through.
Great museum, interesting and varied display of both aircraft and WWII history as well. Can also watch planes landing into the airport if the winds are right. Friendly and helpful staff also.
Lots of interesting information, stories and old relics to explore. Office and shop are air conditioned. The hanger is breezy with fans.
A wonderful museum, and better than I expected. Lots of aircraft and aviation history on display. It's definitely worth your time if you visit Darwin.
Great displays of some iconic aircraft. Great history of Darwin wartime and aircraft that flew during this period. Very reasonably priced and very much worth a visit. Great job guy's, our past defence is very important.
For a woman you would think this is not for me.but I thoroughly enjoyed this.so much to see.and to see an actual b52.makes your eyes boggle.so big.greatplace to visit
If you're in Darwin and interested in aviation, this is a great spot to visit.
Darwin has a long aviation history and continue to play a significant role in Australia's defence.
Until visiting the museum, I was unaware that more lives were lost in the bombing of Darwin in 1943, than lives lost at Pear Harbour.
The museum is a good balance of aircraft on display and descriptions of the items. There is a good variety of complete aircraft, aircraft parts, aviation uniforms and paraphernalia.
A great way to spend a couple of hours in the top end.
Very interesting a lot of information about the Darwin bombing, B52 bomber, F111 and other planes worth going too.
If you are a military aviation buff this is a definite five stars and a must see but the other two in the family found it a bit hot and boring on the day, probably museumed out.
Excellent range of aircraft not found elsewhere in Australia (B-52!) and very detailed information boards. I especially enjoyed the 1919 Air Race display which was a really effective way of communicating the story.
A number of WW2 wrecks are on display with some interesting stories associated with them.
The Spitfire and P-40 were missing, presumably part of the Air Force's centenary celebrations.
The small shop has a range of model kits for sale, including some from Russia.
An excellent place to go to get more of an understanding especially of the Darwin Bombing. We visited as part of the Bombing of Darwin Tour.
Fantastic museum for the aviation or history buff, an extensive collection of historical aircraft memorabilia with a particular focus on Darwin's aviation links to WWII and the region as a whole. Definitely worth a visit.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Visited here whilst on a half day bus tour of Darwin. Staff were very, very good and the exhibits were first class. They have a B52 bomber on display and it's the only one in the Southern Hemisphere.
Awesome place to visit, reasonably priced and we spent over an hour here with 3 young kids. Avoid the gift shop as you will want to buy everything lol. Freindly and informative staff. A must see if in the Darwin area.
