Darwin Aviation Museum reviews
57I usually don't enjoy museums but this place wasn't bad. I went in the middle of the hot, humid, and muggy wet season and it wasn't too bad.
Great museum for a small town like Darwin. Historical info and displays are fantastic. Beautifull examples of B52, F18 and F111 just to name a few.
Very cool visit. I was there for my husband, and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. One caution, the hanger is unairconditioned, so might be more enjoyable early in the day and in the dry season. We were there for more than 2 hours.
Very interesting with lots of info & history of military input from Darwin really a great exhibition staff very welcoming all exhibits worth viewing.
Wow this place is an aviators dream. Standing next to some of the world's most iconic military planes is amazing.
Well worth the visit. The presentation of the aircraft is amazing. If your visiting Darwin, add it on the list as a must do.
Went there twice as didn't see it all the first time - so well done and so awesome - watch the videos and wonder around for hours you can - great great exhibition of such a sad time
So much history and the only place that houses a B-52 bomber in the Southern Hemisphere! It also has an F1-11 and an F18 fighter jet amongst other aircraft!
Good gift shop, bought a old TAA and Ansett mug. They have quite a few planes and give a good history of each one, also comprehensive documentation of the bombing of Darwin. Short drive out of Darwin and we’ll worth a visit.
Only a hop from Dawrin city. This place is a labour of love! It was easy to navigate and with easy to read signs. Really appreciated being able to touch the aircraft both inside and out of the hanger. We travelled early October and boy the tin shed gets hot! The staff have set up fans to circulate the air but come prepared.
Very hot and museum is in an old hangar so quite warm inside. Interesting though to see the b52 and other aircraft and to learn about the Darwin bombings
We really enjoyed visiting this museum. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit to learn a little history.
Awesome collection of aircraft, with a special Aussie flavour over the top. Really cool going on a journey of Australian aviation history as well as seeing the massive B52 in the hangar, which they will go to great lengths to tell you "is the only B52 on display in the southern hemisphere" multiple times.
We went as part of an AAT Kings tour and we only had 40 mins here which is nowhere near enough time. Plan at least 90 mins to 2 hours here.
Top place 1-2 hours.b52 inside I sat in the bomb bay to watch a video.take note almost all ww2 eqpment was us.made Australia was lucky they did and still like us
Wow that B52 just takes up all the hangar then around underneath its wings F111, FA18 hornet Sabre, Mirage and a lot more outside P5 Orion, Wessex helicopter and Apache attack gunship and a V12 merlin from WWII.
You walk out and Formation of F35s take off.
Really worth a visit I also appreciated the old movies on the 1919 Ross Smith flight and the world world 2 in Darwin
The B52 was awesome as was the Hornet and F1 11 up close
Returning soon too much to absord in one visit, almost brings one to tears at sheer waste n greed of northern neighbours
I love this place but it's not everyone's cup of tea, the F18 looks amazing can't wait to see it finished
What a place. If you have even a slight interest in anything aviation, this place has done amazing things to see, do, and touch. The B52 was an absolute show stopper. It is such a shame you can't go inside any of the exhibits. Even just one for the kids and the big kids to interact with would have just nailed the 5 stars in my eyes.
