Crab Claw Island Resort reviews
54Crab claw had us as a mixed review it was lovely to visit as a once off. It is expensive to stay for what it is and the staff are all overworked and not as friendly because of this. The pool is great for kids. The room had a very dirty Ac unit so it wasn't working to its full potential but was cool enough by night time. If you are doing crab claw keep in mind the beach has no sand it's rock and shells and take fishing rods. Have some money to hire a boat because you can hire a boat and that would be ideal. Crocs are definitely there so be croc wise
The road into the resort was pretty rough and had a water crossing that we should have been warned about as our small hybrid rental car almost floated across it. The rooms are very basic, with a small double bed, two single beds, and a bar fridge (that I didn't realise wasn't turned on, so our drinks were still warm after waiting for our drinks to cool.) Trying to enjoy the view of the beach from the bed was impossible due to the filthy sliding door windows. (We attempted to clean the glass with toilet paper and water with little success).
There is no TV in the room, no mobile reception, or wifi available in the rooms. But if you want to sit at the open air bar/restaurant you can get access to wifi.
The food was pretty good for dinner. There is no beers on tap on offer, but a selection of cans and bottles are available. The pool was pretty average and looked unclean, and we had 7 helicopters on a pub crawl land on the beach right in front of our room that ruined the only 40 mins of peace we may have had on our shared balcony.
Oh, and my wifes foot went through the floor in our room.
If it was $120 per night instead of over $350, our expectations would not have been so high.
I really liked Dundee beach and wished we had stayed there in hindsight.
Unreal getaway from it all.quiet, secluded, hosts were fantastic, fishing even better we didn't hire boats just fished out front of accomodation, still caught plenty fish.
A very beautiful place, sitting on the verandah overlooking the beach, a dream, my kids went fishing near the boat ramp and caught some nice bream and a barracuda. The quality of the food in the restaurant is excellent. We all loved it and will go again.
Was treated Rudely, won't be going back and as a local that's not good for your business. I'm glad I didn't have accommodation pre-booked because I would've canceled.
We couldn't organise the ferry trip so drove out and glad we made the effort. A nice little spot to sit and enjoy the stunning (unswimable) water views. Lunch was okay, the chicken wrap was disappointing, more lettuce than anything else however the arancini balls were delicious. Would look at spending a night out there next time.
Wow, just wow, if your looking for 5 star luxury you won't find it here, if your looking for amazing beaches, stunning water views, abundant wildlife, outstanding food at the restaurant, helpful friendly staff, and a superb CHILL ZONE, you won't find anywhere better, we are already planning the next trip, absolute gem of a place
Stayed in caravan camping area. Toilet and showers were a disgrace! Not cleaned at all on regular basis. Laundry area, what a joke! No happy hour Manager extremely rude and arrogant and not helpful. Meals and staff were only the highlights
This place would be great if fishing is your thing, but if it's not there is not much to do. The main bar/restaurant area is shady, cool and has a great view of the beach, but the toilets and showers are grim, and a campsite - not powered - is $50, the most I have paid ever, anywhere.
Views are the main draw card here. Staff are friendly, owner is arrogant. Foods ok, don’t expect to find crab in the pasta dish that says includes crab meat, but if you love $28 lettuce you’ll be on a winner.
Staying during the 3 day lockdown, management seems to not understand the rules, they are enforcing some but not others. If you are a paying guest you have to social distance and stay off the deck and you can't hire a boat. But if you are staff/ backpackers who have made friends with the staff you can sit on the deck together and eat and drink, they were also aloud to take out a boat with 6 people in it. We also had issues with the power, it kept
tripping and our allocated power connection didn't work, we had an extra long cord luckily which reached across three sites. For $50 per night it was disappointing, the view was the only good thing about our stay.
Nice place to stop for a drink or meal. Could possibly have loads of sand flies at certain times.
8 nights in a beachfront cabin! Awesome view and great food, only had our bed linen/towels replaced once (day 4) but not the end of the world. Still our favourite place to stay in the top end. Thanks John, Kat, Menoli and the entire team.
Absolutely stunning but can't swim. Croc swam past day before we were there but they have a pool
Amazing view, friendly staff, food is top quality, open deck layout of the bar ready captures the NT feel, worth a visit.
It was a very enjoyable day out! We only went there for a day trip from Darwin but it was certainly worth it, we can’t wait to go stay a night or two there!
The drive in was nice, 15km (from memory) of bush land, lots of bird life to see! Lunch was very nice on the deck with stunning coastal views!
Just popped in (15km dirt road) while driving past turn off. Spectacular. Will visit again for sure.
Best cabins we have stayed in, in Darwin so far. Good service and dining at the bar/reception/ restaurant. A lot of fishing going on there
The best experience with nautilus aviation, the pilot Simon Waa so attentive, could not recommend more
We loved our stay. Stunning views from the restaurant deck. Felt like on a small island.
Our retreat cabin had beautiful views to the lush greenery and pool. But it was very basic inside and a bit dirty. We are not fussy as with kids its never perfect but for that price we expected a little more. Glad we had dinner at the restaurant as there was no cuttlery at all at the cabin and no microwave, which can come in handy with kids. The ceiling def needs a clean, cabin was on a slant and there was brown marks on walls and door, no rails to hang wet towels. That‘s just beeing picky.
We loved our stay and kids had a great time feeding the turkeys, peacocks and kangaroos. Great for fishing and relaxing.
