Alice Springs YHA

Good facilities and atmosphere, but seemed to be a lot of noise each morning prior to sunrise.

Best hostel in town, central position, close to groceries shops. Heaps of bathrooms and massive kitchen.
Sadly you can't stay more than a certain amount of time.

This review comes from a hostel first timer. In a central location in Alice Springs, this hostel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful, accomodating of our request to check out a tad late and the open air movie night was excellent. They have a pool and good showers. Would recommend

Very nice hostel and wonderful people working there. It can get cold in the room at night around this time of the year, so don't be shy to ask for a heater (they are available!).
I had a great time in Alice Springs and on my camping trip. I would recommend that you definitely come to this spot on earth to see for yourself how great it is. Thanks again YHA Alice Springs!

Could use better Aircon but for the price I'm honestly not that bothered. There are 4 windows in the room and a fan so I lived (it's the middle of summer now). I think it's cool they play movies at night on a projector. Location is great and I felt extremely safe.

Anna and Alex helped me with everything I need. Hostel is clean and comfy. Feels like home. Great people to hang out with

The building is basic, not something fancy or new but big enough and have everything. Swimming pool for summer, cozy lounge area for winter.
The best part of this hostel is people. Run by a couple with good heart. If you are a solo traveler like me, do not worry they’re always there for you. Even people staying there are kind and friendly, who turned to be my best friends now in Alice.
There’re many backpackers staying so good place to get connection or travel information around the are. You can easily find a travel buddy to visit Uluru with if you’re looking for one.
There’re quite a few older mature people staying there as well, which I liked as well.
Depending on who’s staying the atmosphere always changes but most of the times it’s chill, occasionally young people drinking at night and can be loud, but I think it can happen everywhere anyway.

- If you consider the average age there it’s more an old people hostel than an YHA (I estimate the average age to 35-40 years old). I had friends in other Hostels in Alice Springs and they told me that in the other hostels e.g. Alice Lodge, the average age is much lower. So think about that If you are a younger backpacker!
- In the Hostel are the biggest cockroaches I have ever seen.
- the Hostel opens at 9am and the greyhound bus arrives at 7am, so you have to sit outside and have to wait (which can be in winter really cold in the morning…)
- Price is way way to high: I paid 36$ for a 16 bed dorm, which is way more than you pay in the other hostels
+ for friendly manager and clean bathrooms

One of the best hostels I've ever been to! The staff is very friendly and reallly helped me out when I needed help. Also everything is very clean and the place is very comfertable. A wonderful place to meet great people and still be able to sleep in peace.

Excellent place. Anna and the crew here always willing to help. The place is so clean and very secure. Kitchen is excellent, tv room is large, they have an outdoor cinema and the pool is good.
U could.nit want for more book early this place is always full

This is my first review. I (Sydney-spider, 34) spent two nights here with Alex and Ana (a lovely couple from Germany). They run the place with excellence. I have travelled half the world but have seldom seen a hostel with such attention to detail. I need say no more than they left Easter eggs on our pillows. As I said earlier, detail. They've got it going on.

Absolutely loved my time here. Stayed there for around 3 months and Alex and Anna were amazing the entire time. An amazing atmosphere and lots of wonderful people. Highly recommend it.

Very helpful staff! I had a problem with my roommate’s behavior, The receptionist immediately changed the room for me after I reported the issues. Give them a thumbs up!

Everything is OK, except for the fact that there aren't enough plugs in the room. I'm expecting to get a plug for each bed these days.
This is especially handy if you're in one of the top beds, and I don't think it should be such an expensive thing to do for all the value and comfort it provides.

Our stay in Room 8 was a little disappointing: (The air con was very poor and the main light didn’t work. Also cleanliness in female bathrooms and kitchen could be to a better standard.

Staff was high and I could smell weed when I checked in at midnight.
Bad service.
And lady at reception is so rude.
Strongly not recommended.

Great place, great owners, although people many guests forget or.disregard cleaning up after themselves.i guess lazy is the word to use here without trying to sound rude.

Great hostel, very central. Rooms very clean and spacious. Very friendly and helpful managers Anna & Alex. Thoroughly recommend.

Management was quite friendly.local residents were very helpful, no safe in room no games room, pool is cold but would be fine on a hot day and can't operate air conditioning.clean amenities clean kitchen clean grounds movie theatre is great, very loud surroundings but very safe very close to the heart of Alice Springs. Enjoyable stay
