Adelaide River Cruises reviews
65 Amazing experience!
We saw heaps of cocodriles very close!
The guide gave us a lot of information about crocs and it was awesome!
100% recommended!
Well worth the drive and the money! We had a great experience with Sean, saw so many crocodiles and felt safe the whole time.
Highly recommend this short cruise. The tour guide was fun and whitty. It was great to learn more about these magnificent creatures and be educated on how both the us tourists and locals can adapt and act safely with their presence in our outback! Recommend booking in advance as is about an hour drive from Darwin. Also recommend stopping at Fogg Dam and the Humpty Doo Hotel for a pub meal - the burgers were great!
Small tour boat which is great as you actually get to see the crocs with ease. Dylan our guide was knowledgeable and did a great job ensuring that all people on the boat got to see the crocs. Cracker tour and brilliant guide, highly recommend.
Great experience. Highly recommend. We saw lots of crocodiles and the commentary was interesting and funny.
Great experience, unfortunately didn’t get to see big Brutus, but saw a bunch of other crocs!
Captain Damo was a bloody legend, and very knowledgeable on the Crocodylus porosus.
Informative and great price for what you get! Saw plenty of massive crocs that came right up to the boat a must do if you’re in the area!
Beautiful experience, one of the best I've ever had. Navigate the Adelaide River and visit the numerous crocodiles that live freely in those waters. The boat guide Dylan very funny and expert. Thank you.
I've been to a couple of the jumping croc cruises and this one was by far the best experience.
Worth every cent! The best of all the "jumping cruises". Can highly recommend for all ages. And it was very safe yet up close and personal with these prehistoric monsters.
Had a fantastic time on the Adelaide River Cruise with Dylan & Seth at the helm pointing out the crocs as we sailed up the river. The highlight was seeing BRUTUS the biggest crocodile ever!
Amazing tour. Saw so many crocs. Fantastic guide knows where they are and how to get them to jump out of the water. Extremely good pictures. Didn't find the biggest crocodile at first, so Tour was a bit longer until we found the dominator.
Spoke to joy over the phone night before she was really lovely as directions were incorrect when you book through trip advisor you need to go all the way down Anzac parade until the dead end. Captain Dylan was really great and informative could answer any question thrown at him.
Brilliant thing to do in the top end. Our guide was absolutely brilliant and went out of his way to find some big crocs and feed them to our enjoyment. Cruise was supposed to be 1 hr but went longer because it was the crocodile mating season and they were difficult to find. The 6m Brutus is a monster
Best jumping crocs in the NT, more personal tour, been about 6 times now and even sent the Moscow circus in there, they loved it, CAMO
Had an incredible time today! Captain Dylan was a great host and an excellent guide. He was informative and very good at what he does. Absolute must see, when in Darwin, couldn’t recommend more!
Best memories from visiting Darwin. Small jumping crocs operator with one of the oldest crocs (Brutus and Dominator) in the area
The best part of our whole time in Darwin, would go on this cruise time and time again, amazing experience.
When I asked recently on Facebook for some travel tips/suggestions for my trip to Darwin, a colleague suggested the “jumping crocodile” tours. This implies something very “touristy”, but my response to such dismissal is always, “It’s okay, I don’t mind, I’m a tourist”.
I had a brief moment of wondering about whether this was ethical, whether or not it was cruel. But in the end, I concluded it was probably okay since crocodiles lead a fairly “brutal” life anyway.
Located about 90 minutes from Darwin (on the way to Kakadu), the tours take you out on a small boat on the Adelaide River. The guide tells you a lot about crocodiles and “tempts” them.
At first, he held chickens on a stick, and then later in his bare hands.
Later, as we had a beer with him at the Humpty Doo Hotel, he told us holding the chicken in his hands was generally pretty safe, as they weren’t much of a threat by themselves, but would be more if Dom (short for Dominator), the biggest and strongest crocodile was in the area. We got to see Dom, by the way.
That said, he showed us the scar on his right arm from an attack last year, widely reported in the local media.
The tour cost $55, lasted over an hour, and in the view of myself and those who I went on the tour with, was worth it.
