Yachiyo reviews
60Visited this eatery as a solo diner without a reservation. I got my seat at the counter. I asked for omakase, and I think they served me extra food that was not on the menu. Everything was good and I was pretty happy.
Really delicious food with a lovely atmosphere and super great service. It isn't crazy expensive and the chef even gave us a small portion of a sweet treat for free:) drinks were also good! Would definitely go back.
Incredible quality sushi - so delicate and there is so much care and attention to detail put into every dish. The staff are also so kind, humble and considerate. Cannot rate Yachiyo highly enough - I will be a weekly regular!
Very cosy and intimate vibes. Fresh seafood and very friendly service. We tried the omakase there however we were not seated right in front of the chef. They brought the food to our table. If trying omakase - try to get a bar seat otherwise it takes the whole experience out of the omakase.
Delicious, fresh sushi and sashimi. The lunch special is especially good value. The staff are always polite and the ambience is great.

Very high end fusion experience.
Really enjoyable. Are at the bar with the full attention of the chef.
Tried a lot of dishes, some not quite to my taste but, went to try it out and came away very pleased having discovered a few new dishes which were top notch. Would recommend if looking for an intimate and enlightening dining occasion.
Decent, but super slow, food delivery not in the right order and sashimi presentation was very chaotic …
Best Japanese food I've ever had. The chef had a drink with us and gave us some complimentary sake. Honestly an amazing experience.
Wow, is all I have to say. My partner and I have been on the hunt for good sushi for six months and the sushi we got from here was insane. The fish is so fresh and such good quality and every single dish and roll had so much flavor. I will be dreaming of the cauliflower popcorn.
Loved everything our group of 4 ordered. We were walking to SCG and popped in for an early pre match dinner, the staff were great and fitted us in. Would love to come back again (with a booking)
Yachiyo is a good place to go when you're craving for something Japanese and can't decide what to get. They have the "me so hungry" tasting menu that will surely satisfy your Nippon urge. My a la carte staples are their Popcorn Shrimp, Pork Katsu Bun and their Sashimi Selection. Their grilled meats are good but a bit gingery for some so if you're not a fan of ginger then prolly skip their pork belly skewer.
Cool fact about Yachiyo: One more thing I love about this restaurant is their automated toilets. Smart toilets are common in Japan but something that you don't see often in Sydney restaurants this size. No need to touch the seats and flush because it's all automated. So cool, sanitary and so Japanese!
Probably the best value omakase in town these days! Have been craving for omakase for a while, and yachiyo is never a disappointment.
Went there last year with a group of friends and the experience has been amazing. Coming back again this year with another group, which turns out even better.
Price point is reasonable with great value! Good with the premium omakase this time and all the sushi are super fresh and rice texture is just perfect on point! The other dishes in between prawn, abalone, oyster soup, black miso cod, zucchini flower, they match well with the flow of the course. It helps cleanse your palette but also keep you excited throughout the course.
Chef micchan san is super fun as well! We had quite a bit of chat throughout the meal and stayed back for more drinks with him. His vision about omakase and the food industry is so bright which makes him proud of what he does. He is a very genuine chef which aims to bring quality food and Great experience to customers and not jsut focusing about the profit. It is hard to find omakase less than $150 in Sydney these days! Would highly recommend to anyone and can’t wait to go back!
Delicious Japanese. A little expensive though as the portions are small so many dishes are needed!
Blew my expectations out of the water! So hard to find good sushi in Sydney. Bug roll and spicy tuna were my favorite!
The kingfish and salmon sashimi were absolutely amazing and the yuzu sake (and the sake we ordered as well) were delicious. Service was exception, props to the staff! Thank you! Definitely coming again!
I would give 0 stars if possible, the most unsanitary restaurant I have been to my entire life, the sashimi were placed on paper towel, and ingredients are placed in plastic takeaway box, the sashimi are not fresh and smushy, I rather pay 130$ for fresh ingredients than for this
The food was good but the service was not so good. 45 minutes to get our food and the place was not that crowded.
Best Japanese in Sydney. The flavours are sublime. Lovely, attentive staff and very reasonably priced. Wagyu beef is to die for but very rich so order some rice with it.
The look of the sushi says it all.
It used to be one of my favourite places however it has gone downhill
