Wollongong Art Gallery reviews
41Great place to see some awesome art from local and touring exhibitions. Recommended visit when you are in Wollongong.
I am not really a fond of art nor an expert in the subject, but I did enjoy my visit to the Art Gallery.
By the time I went to visit it, there was an exhibition about feminism, which I found super interesting and relevant.
Also I had great conversations with the two staff members that I met there. They were super nice and friendly.
I love visiting the Wollongong Art Gallery. They have regular new exhibitions and some very interesting displays. I follow them on Facebook as they have details of what's coming up and what may of be interesting. I support this local attraction and good on you Gong for having this facility in the middle of town! Fantastic paintings in the exhibition room, great contemporary displays, and very friendly staff! What’s more, it’s all free.
Well worth a visit. We forget what Wollongong can now offer. Has many holiday workshops for children.
Superb regional galley with international style and presentation. Several shows all very well presented the summer if love was fantastic. World class.
Although Wollongong Gallery is only small compared to its Sydney counterparts, it has great flair. There was one staff member who stood out as she took the time to approach me and tell me about an upcoming artist talk. The three exhibitions on the lower level were incredibly diverse. Go check it out.
Wish this place was bigger and more interactive but I love coming here and taking my clients whenever new exhibitions are on
Very impressive gallery for a small City. Lots of art programs for local aspiring and experienced artists alike. Nice displays. Friendly reception staff. Most enjoyable.
Beautiful art gallery, run on donations. They have heaps of displays of local artwork over 4 floors. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a kids bit upstairs so good for young families great work Wollongong art gallery!
I saw the Tony Mott exhibition back in January, which was very well done. It was great to see the story of the live music scene in Australia over the decades interwoven with Tony Mott's career throughout the exhibition.
I did explore the rest of the gallery, I was there for the entire day, could have gone back for a second day really - it is definitely worth a visit. The staff were helpful, courteous, really fantastic.
Nice local museum with a ton of local art. Great that it is free and close to the town center along with many other good selections of food nearby. The receptionist was very polite. Note that you cannot take backpacks around in the museum, you must leave them at the front. You can take pictures may take pictures as you like although some rooms can be quite empty and spacious. Would be nice to see more sculpture work in this museum.
Not a lot of people visiting this place. Good size local gallery. If you visiting Wollongong area and have a free time, i would say just give this place a look. The location is very good close to the town centre. +
Really cool place to visit.free entrance free souvenirs. 1st floor 'what a life 'rock music gallery is awesome.
Not many people visit this place. It is usually empty during the day, sometimes you might see one or two others visiting. It would be nce to see some renovations to give the place an update. Maybe different colour walls in different sections like black walls etc.to make it more interesting.
I've been visiting numerous times a year for almost a decade, very family and child friendly. Always new exhibits to see both local and international. Honestly one of my favourite places in the Illawarra
Small, but packed full of arty goodness. Everyone who lives in Wollongong should see this place regularly instead of filling themselves with hateful news over coffee.
One of those hidden secrets. I'm told not many local know about this place. Building design from the 60s/70s gives it a unique charm.
Free and not too big, a nice way to spend an hour or two. Lots of beautiful old paintings of the local area.
Great historic paintings of the Illawarra along with some more contemporary art to challenge my thinking.
My neice (6) and nephew (4) appreciated the kids corner and there were self directed activities related to one of the exhibitions. Could easily have spent half a day.
One of the Illawarra's under-appreciated assets. Air conditioned, elevator for easy access, and multiple levels of quality work from local and international artists. An inspiring building.
