WAK The Salon

I used WAK yesterday for my engagement party hair styling and I could not be happier, my hair is extremely notorious for not holding and lasting about an hour before it all falls out. Not only did my whole hair style stay all day, but all evening and into the next morning.it looked stunning and the service was incredible. Absolutely will be using them for everything event in my future, absolutely life changing could not recommend them more!

I really loved my experience at WAK. I needed to get my hair cut and coloured before my wedding a couple months ago. I had just moved to Newcastle and hadn’t had my hair cut in a year due to lockdowns. They were great with me, refreshments on arrival and listened to what I wanted. Super happy with the result and have already booked for my next appointment

I came in on Thursday for a hair app, this was my second appointment at WAK. Anything I write would be a pure understatement. I really bloody loved and appreciated the girls that helped me, Tiago and Hannah, who made me feel so comfortable and valued. I know during “this difficult times” coupled with night shifts everything feels exhausting but the gals really turned up. As I mentioned It was only my second appointment with Tiah but I could say with all sincerity that she is the best hairdresser I’ve ever had ticking all the boxes of friendliness, gentleness, creativity and knowledge with hair which probably shouldn’t be rare in your industry but evidently is.

Just thought as it’s worth saying. You absolutely have a repeat customer in me and I’ll be like a cool evangelistic youth pastor telling anyone who would listen to head your way.

Couldn’t recommend this salon more! From the moment you walk in you feel as if you’re at home, all of the staff were so accomodating and friendly.
Im so impressed by my colour done by Charlie, she really nailed the warm tones and not even to mention the amazing styling! I already can’t wait for my next visit. Thank you so so much guys.

WAK is such a vibe! I always walk out feeling amazing after my experience at WAK because my hair looks fresh and perfect and the stylists are always so fun and friendly. I feel immediately relaxed when I sit and enjoy some me-time. Can’t recommend this place more!

I have been going to this salon for years and have walked out happy every single time.

The staff are lovely and professional. They are all good communicators and very talented.

As soon as you arrive you get a beverage of choice with a large selection of hot and cold aswell as alcoholic after a certain time if you're 18+. Covid makes things abit different but they usually have little nibbles and treats to enjoy during your treatments.

Everyone here is incredibly good with blonde hair and I personally get foils and walk out looking natural and blended.

You feel spoilt from start to finish during your treatment and I can't recommend them enough. Prices are insanely good too!

I have been going to WAK for just over 3 years now and I will never go anywhere else! I am consistently happy with the results and always leave the salon feeling nothing short of amazing. They always see/hear my vision and make me feel comfortable and relaxed. I regularly go to Wade for my hair who outdoes himself every single time, he is a hair genius! I have also had my hair styled/coloured by the other stylists and they are all so talented, kind and professional, the results never disappoint. The salon has a great atmosphere, the staff are incredibly professional and friendly. I always highly recommend this salon to all of my friends and family who always ask where the best place to go to for hair!

When do you ever walk out of a salon and want to take pictures of yourself, for me it’s never but the way they all make me feel is AMAZING

I was charged $50 on my credit card for not turning up for my appointment; however, I didn’t turn up because the employee who took the booking made a mistake and booked me in on a Friday instead of the Saturday. I would not book on a Friday morning as I’m always at work. When I called explained what had happened I was just shut down rudely and hung up on. I guess they figured they got my $50 deposit & didn’t care. I have just moved down from QLD and was looking for a professional hairdresser, I have now found one but definitely not WAK!

Wade and the Team have been doing my hair and makeup for 7 years. So when I was planning my wedding in Byron Bay I knew I wanted the WAK team there for our special day. I wouldn’t have had anybody else and it felt like I had family there making myself and my BM’s and MOB feeling like a bunch of princesses. They’re fun and always up to scratch on trends. WAK made my wedding experience pure bliss and didn’t even flinch at travelling for me ️ Thank you again- I’ll be a client forever xx

My wife and I love WAK. The staff are very friendly and they always do a fantastic job based on our preferences.

Visited here a few years ago and generally wasn't happy with the outcome with my extensions not being blended that well. Felt ignored, judged and rushed.

Hair extensions are yellow!
Was shown the extensions in a packet and I said they are very yellow and wasn't very comfortable with the colour. I was told they could not apply ash extensions as they don't stock them. I was shown a photo of the exact hair extensions in someone else's hair (didn't look yellow) So I agreed to have these extensions in. When I left and saw extensions in natural lighting I was horrified how yellow and how much they looked like barbie yellow hair. I contacted salon and was sent a photo of my hair next to the photo of the hair I was shown in the salon. My hair was a lot more yellow and when questioned I was told the photo is different as that client had her hair appointment at 9am. My appointment was 10am. I was told extensions can't be toned or coloured so basically my hair will be like this unless I have them removed and my hair coloured and new extensions applied. I went to reply again once I got home and was actually able to assess my hair out of the car and out of their white light that made my hair not look as yellow, I couldn't reply as I had been blocked by salon. Today I spent $700 and have yellow and unable to contact them.

Love my new colour ️ I felt so looked after as soon as I got there and the result was exactly what I wanted. Shannon was amazing.

Had such a wonderful experience at WAK the Salon - greeted by Hannah on arrival who was so lovely and friendly - has beautiful hair too! Then Wade worked his magic - he is incredible - super knowledgeable, very professional, a beautiful soul, great conversationalist and a top hair stylist (knows what he’s talking about so people should listen)! Then the lovely Steph did my curls and I had such a great time talking with her and learning some useful tips on how to style my new locks. What a beautiful team in a fantastic location. Can’t wait to visit again soon:)

Was in desperate need for a hair cut as I recently have had a lot of shedding, leaving my hair out of shape and lifeless. I have super curly hair so needed to find a Salon confident with curls (harder than you think). Scoped out a few places on Instagram & was unable to find a Salon that displayed their work on girls with curly hair. Until I came across WAK Salon. Not only did they have a IG highlight displaying their portfolio of different types of beautiful curly headed women. They displayed a whole range of different types of hair types on their page. DIVERSITY - LOVE TO SEE IT. When I arrived, I felt welcome & comfortable immediately. Spoke to the stylist (I’m so sorry I forgot her name but she also has curly hair) about my concerns & how I’m used to my hair getting cut by my usual hairdresser (I live in Darwin NT - I’m only in Newcastle for a month) & she listened & adapted to how I prefer my hair being cut. She did an amazing job & even styled in a different way that I hadn’t ever done before - It gave my curls a lot more definition & less frizz.
