Victoria Park Pool reviews
67Staff are friendly. Normally not too busy during off peak times - generally get a lane to myself to swim laps in. Great facilities - women’s change room has plenty of space and privacy
Had a lovely couple of hours enjoying this lovely pool with family. Great location. Helpful staff. Clean facilities.
Their gym is a gem. Well equipped and steps away from an outdoor swim, can’t ask for more. The trainer in the gym Alessandro is super knowledgeable and informative. Great guy all round. It’s fast becoming my go-to.
The pool is dirty and it needs to be cleaned. It’s a shame as it’s a great spot in Victoria Park.
I've been going to Vic Park for two years now and have always loved it, beautiful pool area and great gym. Alessandro is a fantastic trainer, he is always happy to give tips and have a chat
After a long walk today I was greeted with a ‘no sunbathing’ sign. They never communicate what’s important to members of subscribers. Don’t know where the No sunbathing direction came from. Numbers could be controlled, temperature was being checked but most were not using the QR CODE to register? So why limit what customers can do?
Went labour day to the pool because the beach was obviously going to be packed. I didn't see the no sunbathing sign so I was asked to leave when I was sun bathing which is totally my bad.
But, that rule just doesn't seem logical at all, I can't sun bath, but i can swim in a pool and cross paths with another swimmer on cm's apart and share all the germs from my mouth amd nose with everyone in the pool?
Unless we swim in a pool made of isopropyl alcohol, we all know chlorine ain't going to cut it in term of killing germs immediately.
However, we did get a free pass which is nice of them but the no sun baking rule is just really silly in my opinion.
Oddly the Council has used Covid19 rules to force swimmers closer together with two way traffic in a single lane. Swimmers bumping each other and breathing into each other's face as they pass so close. They got rid of safer, wide lane swimming where you swim up lane 1 and back lane 2, keeping about 1.5m apart. Complaints by worried seniors whose health is at risk has been ignored.
Great facilities with amazing staff. Special thanks to manager Ali that was always willing to help me with smile on his face!
Have been coming on and off for years. Great staff, great facilities. Nice little cafe. Smallish gym but it has a good vibe.
The pool is well situated in inner city suburbs in a beautiful park. The pool facilities are great and there is also a gym. However. The customer service at the canteen is appalling and the range of meals and snacks is not great. I was in disbelief at how poor the service was and how slow the 2 staff were at responding to a line of customers.
Very helpful staff- they lent me some goggles when I forgot my own. Very good lane system and nice seating area. Quiet despite being in the centre of a city. Water occasionally looks like it could be a little cleaner though
Excellent facilities! Water is well taken care. Very well organised the lane distribution so that everyone has an adequate space. Despite being busy it has never felt crowded. Reception is helpful and attentive, always gives good service.
Great pool for doing lengths and for hanging out at. Bit of shade and some grass area too. Not a lot of parking but a nice oasis near the city.
Hands down the best pool in Sydney! Great vibe and amazing atmosphere the location is only out done by the staff. Simple gym and pool setup but it's all you need!
Truly an oasis in the city!
Good to come here for a swim when it gets too hot. Not the ideal pool for exercising though, try indoor pools for that. Sometimes the lifeguards act like police officers though which is kind of strange.
Nice green place in the city center. With warn water to swim whole year round. And friendly staff.
Never particularity busy. Rarely packed with hordes of kids and competitive swimmers. Historical postwar pool with competent staff, reasonably priced and well maintained.
Very bad experience with payments, I have been charged 250$ after 3 months I was’t actually going to the place
I'm a pretty big fan of Victoria Park Pool. I have been coming here on and off for over 20 years. The main reason is it's location which is right next to Sydney University and at a pretty big bus junction (City Road and Parramatta Road/Broadway) so it is convenient for dropping in on the way to or from work or Uni. I have never really used the gym though.
Here's the downside: I am slightly underwhelmed by the pricing - it just seems a bit over the odds for what I feel should be priced better than the commercial gyms. It is, after all, owned by the City of Sydney. For what it is - a well worn-in public amenity - residents of the area should be offered a discount - just a suggestion. While I was living overseas, they installed lovely sun-lounges that give it a slightly resort-like feel - I wonder if this was the justify the ex-y price of gym + pool subs?
Also, the cafe is pretty average
The water is clean (except on super crowded days in the height of heatwaves.my advice would be to stay away on those days).
Upside: I can almost always get in 20 - 30 laps (it's Olympic sized - 50m) without being in a crowded lane. In case you're wondering, I swim mainly between 8am and 10am.
It can feel like a little oasis in what is otherwise a pretty grungy part of town. It's especially nice to be there on a fine weekday, during school time, when it's quiet and pretty.
