Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum reviews
28 Very friendly and helpful staff.
Large amount of trains to see and you can go inside many of the cars and locomotives.
There are small exhibit inside including model trains.
They have a running steam trams that you take a joy ride in, it is an old wooden tram from the old Parramatta lines. The tram wide takes you out to Valley Heights train station and back and takes approximately 15 minutes
Great day out for a family. Have a couple of rides on the steam tram, look around the roundhouse and watch the model trains. The model trains were my boys’ favourite. The place is run by really nice people who are passionate about the place and its history. If you’re a train nerd or raising a couple of them you’ll love this place.
Great place to discover/ rediscover the old railway.
Excellent talk on the funeral trains that ran to Rookwood.
Staff friendly and informative.
Highly recommend.
Went to Valley Heights for History week event.
My husband and i spent the whole day there!
We loved the train ride, chats with people at Valley Heights Locomotive depot, the presentation and all that was at at the locomotive depot and we had great lunch and hot cuppa!
Such fun for all ages. So interesting, and beautifully presented. With a sweet little onsite cafe for refreshments, and dedicated volunteers, many of whom were dressed in period costume. Love the old retro tickets and memorabilia all in situ. The site is not so large as to be overwhelming, it was just the right size and so-o pleasant. A tonic.
What a wonderful place to take the kids, or for enthusiasts. So much history, lovingly restored and cared for, great tea, coffee and cakes. Steam train ride, model trains running. Terrific
A small interesting locally run train/rail museum opens 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. Has several steam locomotives and train carriages plus a 1920s Sydney steam tram. Regular short steam the train rides are included. Has a museum shop and cafe.
Fantastic place to spend a few hours and learn so much rail history.
Keith and crew are passionate and informative. We even got to ride on a steam train, what an experience! I took as large group of seniors, we enjoyed a cuppa and beautiful scones they provided. They even had a lovely GF cake for the Gluten free visitors.
All so friendly, will have to take the kids next time.
