University Health Service reviews
47Receptionist was rude and there was no reason for it. I understand that they might be get upset when patients disagree with them etc. But I just came in for my appointment and then she asked me for my health insurance card which I didn't have so I showed her a letter which had my policy number and provider. Then she changed her whole attitude and just went: "we don't work with them - you need to pay for consultation! " In my mind I'm thinking what's wrong with this lady? Why is she raising her voice at me? She should have said it politely.
There is always a longer wait (15-30min) than anticipated, as such I started showing up 5-10 min later than my appointments. They can only do direct billing with Allianz and for the rest, they charge you directly and hold onto the receipt until the end of the appointment which has cause me to come back at least twice since I forgot.
Since my last visit I have found better service at central park medical clinic, so try to find alternative centres if you are able.
Highly recommend GP Dr. Geoff Hansen. He has been treating me for many years and takes very good care of his patients.
Everything about this practice is unprofessional, especially the absurd waiting time to see a doctor, despite having made an appointment. I've come here twice, and in both occasions I was made to wait for at least half an hour. Neither the reception staff nor the staff take responsibility to investigate and hence rectify this issue. Classic example of running a 'monopolistic competition' style business where issues are never addressed because there is always going to be demand, especially from international students, whom I presume make up the most percentage of their patient numbers. Wouldn't recommend this practice and certainly would not come back here again.
The hotline of help-desk service is very awful. I missed a call from health centre and then called back. The desk staff said: “I don’t know why we called you” with very cold and careless attitude. IT IS RIDICULOUS. Health centre is an important department for people’s health, please at least equipped yourself with responsibility and professional skills. Your attitude sucks.
Absolutely worst customer service ever. Came all the way for my appointment and was told I could not attend the appointment because I didn’t have my student card but was able to if I brought it in the following day (they mentioned it doesn’t expire) even though I’m not a current student at the uni.
Avoid reception staff by using the online appt portal and use online check-in screen located in waiting area.
I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my GP to come out and call me for my appt
Super busy clinic, expect a wait time of 45 - 60 minutes, and as a result GP and nursing medical care is limited.
I have been here 4 times.
Doctor kept me waiting more than 30 minutes all the time and administration has taken NO steps.
Receptionist may or may not be aware of anything and hence they may have become part of following #UNETHICAL practices of:
1. Keeping patients waiting
2. Making them suffer in their schedule. Full time employees may have to take leave half day leave just to attend 10 minutes consultation just because of MIS-MANAGEMENT by the staff or doctors or both.
3. Management has not shown any responsibility for any of these so far.
4. Reception always asks to wait and provides no estimated time to be attended by the doctor.
5. No prior emails sent if there is any delay. I have been to many doctors in Sydney as well as in Melbourne. However, this is #worst_experience ever.
Either this is the way #Wenthworth doctors work or management may not doing their job properly or management is ordering doctors NOT TO BE ON TIME.
However, there is a lab which is managed by an old man. Despite of his age, he had given me 'exact advice', manages time well for each patient, and lets know if there will be any potential delay.
Further, some staff (over the call only) are helpful.
This has been my go-to clinic for the past few years for everything from mental health issues, physical injuries, the common cold & flu, and just to fill out forms/certificates/prescriptions. I see whichever GP is available and most of them have been very good and professional. Especially Dr. Louise Dolan, Dr. Anna Raif, and Dr. Robert Bezimienny (who no longer works there but he was the most patient and thorough doctor).
The online booking system has been a huge plus and cuts waiting time by a lot. But even before this system was in place and when I've had walk-in appointments I've never experienced long waiting time. I've even called them once as I was running late due to an emergency and the receptionists rearranged time for me. They're a bit jaded face-to-face, but they're professional.
One receptionist pronounced my name wrong and laughed at the pronunciation of my name when I corrected her. It was rude, bigoted and racist (not sure if they are all that bad, I hope not)
All services here is totally bad.
Generally, recpetionists are quite rude so I feel like being discriminated from them.
They usually say "plz" to anglo-australians, but have never seen doing that to other ethics.
Some GPs are very kind and nice but some are pretty impolite, for example, they should listen carefully what patients talk, yet they usually use "stop" to patients.
I realise that the worst clinic is in the best university.
It must have failed if this click was an individual clinic.
Geoff hansen is the strangest doctor I have ever seen. It is normal to have sharp stomachache and just eat degas medicine as well as panodol?
This place ordered a stool test for me but when I went to the counter to pay, the receptionist said that I didn’t have to pay anything. So the next day I submitted the sample to Douglas Hanly Moir Pathology and the guy there didn’t even mention anything about payment or that they would mail me the bill. Fast forward to today, I checked my mailbox and found a bill for $266 just for one test.
The staff here both in Douglas and the GP and receptionist at the health centre have to tell their patients when there are additional costs or even mention that hey, you kinda need to pay for the test your doctor ordered and listed in your account.
I probably won’t get reimbursed for something that wasn’t my fault but I sure hope no one else goes through this.
I visited the clinic last year and decided never to go there again. Decent doctor but receptionists are condescending.
To the receptionist staff.it doesn’t hurt to be nice. Stop talking to everyone like we’re from a jungle and we don’t understand English.
The doctors are great but the reception staffs act like they own the place. They are extremely rude, unprofessional and act like the patients are some sort of idiots. I have been to the medical Center many times because of the convenient location but honestly the reception staff need to be trained well
The receptionists are exceptionally rude and unprofessional. They rolled eyes and talked rudely to patients. Went there simply because have a regular doctor to see. But in the future Definitely do not want to visit again.
Poor service especially Receptionists are so rude, inpatient and unfriendly. They even speak with you in a bad temper, I don't think we deserve that. Hope someone will fix it out.
I am very disappointed in this clinic, especially since they are representing the University of Sydney. Receptionist are rude, unprofessional and lacking compassion. You are working at a health clinic, if you don’t like your job then find a new one. Communication between patients and doctors was very minimal, they too did not seem to care about their patients outcome. I would avoid this clinic.
