We brought our 6 month old son to Tresillian with hope that we could have help with his night sleeps. However when we got the centre, they insisted that he slept in sleeping bags with arms out due to his age (note: he hasn't been rolling). Since he's been in LTD transition swaddles at home which he has been used to for self-settling, he could not settle for any naps and bedtime without it. The first night was horrible with only 3 hours sleep and the nurses who came in and talked to us of settling methods while we were trying to settle our son, who was crying and screaming, were not attuned to the fact that you cannot settle a baby while adults are having conversations. The 2nd and 3rd night did not improve whatsoever with a screaming baby that went on for hours. The techniques provided were age-based and some of it like patting of mattress infuriated our son even more. He hardly ever napped in the cot provided which was so clunky and noisy plus the cot area was too bright for naps & causes an early rise due to light coming into the room at 530am.

It is such a great disappointment that a place like Tresillian only works by the book and does not cater to baby's needs. Rather than getting to know my son and how he behaves and self settles for sleep, they imposed their own rules/policies (forcing him to be unswaddled and to sleep with arms free) and age based theories which did not suit. We left with no improvement and a chronically sleep-deprived son, who only wanted to sleep on us instead of self-settling for naps and bedtime (i.e. Going backwards instead of improving!). Any parents who are thinking of going to Tresillian, please ensure they get to know and understand your child rather than conform to their rules, policies and methods which are by the book and not by baby's needs.

I've been to Tressilian twice, but the one in Canterbury was a far more worthwhile experience. Not sure if the staff were better, or whether I had a toddler here this time round which made things more challenging. Meal times were strict, and because the food was already reheated, you werent allowed to eat it later, which messed around my son's sleeping routine, which in turn made the visit a waste of time, as adjusting the sleep routine was the whole purpose of attending. As a result, my son slept early, woke at 3-4am, back to sleep at 7am, then had an afternoon sleep, sleeping through until 3.30pm. The staff noticed this on one occasion and dared to criticise me for allowing it, despite the fact that this never even occurred until his routine was messed up upon arrival. The room was not ready on arrival, including things like having a cot in the room instead of a toddler bed, when a special phone call was made to me earlier in the week prior to arrival, to check what my son slept in - so just generally disorganised. We were told to arrive at 8am sharp, then made to wait 20 minutes until the receptionist finished her social conversation to meet us at the counter. We were given a set time to meet somewhere for the tour, which after 20 minutes of waiting, my 15 month old had enough, so whenever they decided to eventually start the tour, we ultimately missed out. And as an added issue of disorganisation, despite the phone call asking for dietary requirements prior to Day 1, the chef could not tell me the ingredients of any of the dishes.

Had such an amazing experience. First day/night was very daunting as I wasn’t sure what to do or expect but the nurses were so supportive, so attentive and just over all amazing. They have so much experience and knowledge to offer and are also very nurturing. After my first night, I felt more comfortable being here and more confident as the days went on. Can not recommend Tresillian enough!

Very helpful staff. Didn't stay overnight, just day service. Our nurse has been very reassuring and informative.

This place is a joke! I’m only giving it 1 star because I have to have a star rating otherwise it would be minus! My wife has been in this place for 4 days and I was there on the weekend and I’ve had my wife on the phone in tears on days I haven’t been there! They barely help and the majority of the staff are rude, passive aggressive and not helpful! There are a few staff that are lovely and I feel sorry for them having to work with such people! One it the other mums over heard that there is tension between the staff. Also been told our baby is just to much hard work for them! We went there for help and got nothing, if anything our bub is worse because of their ideas! Would not recommend this place to anyone, very horrible experience!

On the third night of staying here with our 11 month old son.
There has been major improvements so far.
The staff are always around to help and there has been so much support.
For anyone considering coming to tresillian for help I recommend you do it.
